One thing I definitly like about this site compaired to the other forums I go to is the fact that here; the admins and mods don't make appearances just to give ban threats and nuke topics; here you guys actually talk to the other users; and help when you can.

My original forum is GameFAQs; and the only time we ever really see the mods post besides banning and topic killing is when you go to thier public message board; which I'm not sure I can say the name here. And the head admin (he's considered the head anyways) almost never post in a open topic; when he does he's gone before you even realize he was there. I have never seen an admin or mod there actually help in any of the game based forums; or at least help with anything more than a hint on what the answer to your question is.

And no; I'm not kissing anyones ass here; I'm stating a fact.
SMWCentral makes GameFAQs look like a warzone. They could use to take a page out of your book.
GameFAQs IS a warzone basically. I hear tons of horror stories about it and its users. The thing to remember with us is that we were normal users once. That gives us strong ties to the forum and actually posting. With GameFAQs, I'm betting the mods/admins there are simply staff, not truly users. They're just there to take care of the administrative parts and that's it.
True; but the way things go it seems like they do noting at all.

I've seen forum trolls make moderator satus; even when they were supposed to be banned.
Then that means that the forums are run by idiots who don't have brains.
ohh. Nice!

Truth hurts; and that would sting.
Yeah. I used to regularily post on GameFAQs, but once I realized that the moderators could not keep much of anything under control (I mean, with the amount of forums and users, I can't entirely blame them, but still...), I just left. As for why it works well here .. basically what was said about how we have gotten to know regular members of the community due to the fact that we were regulars once.
Personally I like the mods and admins here much. (but not in that kind of way)
And they often even post in the hack threads, or often review the hacks. In the last time I really liked the forum, there are many nice users at the moment.
I agree about GameFAQs being a warzone. I know a moderator there, (Xenesis Xenon) and we talk on Windows Live. They actually just volunteer. The staff here is friendly, and never extremely critical on a user. Example. "Your hak suks!11!!1!1"
I have been on many forums and SMWC's forum is handled very well.
I'm not the star of the show but I try to be.
Currently making a SMW rom hack with 7 worlds. Hope to finish it soon.

Yeah, you always get a sort of disconnected feeling from the moderators on GameFAQs. This is a problem when it comes to closing threads, since they may not be in on whatever's being discussed, and might close something by mistake.

I stopped posting there when they began to mod me for ridiculous things. For example, I got modded for posting a topic that eventually led to a fad, and they said I was a part of it. Heck, I even brought it up to a lead moderator, who upheld it and refused to look at the dates the threads were made, instead stating that "he was sure" mine had been created later.
GameFAQs sure sounds like hell. I'm glad I never joined.
Don't forget Post Throttling. I hated that. I really did. =/
I hate Gamefaqs with a passion. I used to go on every day but I stopped once I started joining smaller forums with better communities. I occasionally troll the boards out of sheer boredom, but besides that I stay away. I lost about 400 karma on one offense for insulting a moderator. Not only the mods, but the regulars on the boards are asses also, especially in major boards (Brawl).
I know this one Zelda forum I joined, almost two years ago. I actually liked the looks of it at first, but after posting on it for awhile, I realized how much the users attack each other, always trying to accuse one another of being gay and whatnot. What's really sad about it all, is that the member age range is 20-35 years old. The mods aren't any better. There's this one mod that flames regular members, I'm guessing, just to make herself feel better. The staff is just horrible there. They banned me for no good reason too. Their reason was horribly exaggerated. They said I "made a post that bashed on how my topic got locked," which in reality, the post wasn't even close to referencing the locked topic, and not to mention, that the topic was locked A LOOOONG time ago. They also banned me because, "I got into a fierce argument with a staff member". In reality, it was actually a short conversation through private messages, where I politely diagreed.

It's hard to find a good forum sometimes.

This is a key concept that I have always gotten from moderators I've interviewed.
I like most of the staff on this site, some more than others but I really don't have a problem with anyone. I think they run this place very well.

Its kinda like santa, he was just a normal person, then he became a creepy old man who broke into houses giving little kids candy. Except i dont i will fine any mods here creeping into my house...

But yeah i really see your point, the mods/admins are really cool here. And it nice to be able to look up to you guys. Most of you always know what your talking too. But not SNN hes just an idiot.

I wouldn't be bashing the actual site of GameFAQs too much though - they are probably the best 'game help site' out there right now. Aside from the forums, it's a pretty awesome site.

(of course, this is coming from someone who really only goes there for game help or release dates nowadays).
The moderators on this site are very nice as they do not see everyone else as inferior to them, they also have somthing called a 'personality' that moderators on other forums do not seem to have - I guess though forums such as GameFAQs have such a large disconnected community that moderators do not have time to know regular users due to the ammount of spammers and such.

Yeah, the mods here are not only good at what they do, but they all have awesome personalities and i really wish i could hang with some of you hehe. But snn said it right, gamefaqs does give great help, and i never go anywhere else for walkthroughs, but their forums just suck ass.

edit : speaking of SNN, why have you kept your new name so long.
