Some awesome new BG's courtesy of Edit's BG Ripping tool.


Firstly we have Level 1 from Castlevania 5: Dracula X.
Absolutely huge page consumption, requires VRAM rearrangement.


Castlevania 5: Dracula X Stage 5 background. Nice and simple, only uses one ExGFX file and half a palette.

I've actually released this. if you want it, just click the picture.


The Forest Section from Dino City. Palatte is awful at the moment, but you get the jist.


An updated Halberd BG, this one assembled straight from KSS.


A 'Sunken Castle/temple' BG Ripped from the last level of SMB1 (SMAS). i could have easily assembled this myself, but this way is more garunteed to be complete.

Actually, that last screenshot is one of 2 of my new levels for World 1.

Firstly, we have Sunken Temple which is in the above SS. Here are some more:



This is actually a very short level, but it's quite difficult (Being underwater n'all).

It's a secret level, and at the end you get a heart container, and the level automatically finishes.

I know the status bar palettes are all terrible, but thats because of a bug either with my computer or with Edit's ripping tool. Basically it forces all palettes onto palette 0, which causes buggerence.

From what I know, that's only a bug if you're using Internet Explorer. If you trie Firefox instead it will most likely work. (If you're already using another browser, I don't know...)

That's right, I am, and alot of others, able to pick what palette row the palettes are on.
I use Firefow btw.

Thats right guys, this project is still happening. I'm on study leave, I'm bored, I can't be bothered to revise constantly so what better way to pass the time than hack SMW.


My latest level, called 'Ruins of Sol'. (Pending name, it's a bit cliche'd).

Geographically it's quite near the beginning of the game, but you can only properly enter it when you've hit all the coloured switches.

There's a big reward at the end of it (Which is yet to be decided). Suggestions are welcome! I'm thinking along the lines of a powerup...

Thats it fr now, I just wanted to reassure you that it's still happening. More updates later today/tommorow.

And this BG is simply awesome (did you draw/rip it?), it looks like an oil painting or something. And the FG-BG matching is good in my opinion. And I think, "Ruins of Sol" is a very good name for this level.
Big reward at the end? Let me think...Powerups, many coins, maybe a 1-UP, and some little bonus thingy (I mean maybe a cutscene with some fun stuff or a NPC etc)

aww come on, a massive side quest level tower ruin thing, and all you get is a 1-up? Not cool, man. :D

Jokes aside, that BG is not drawn, (I wish it was, then I could get an art degree). Anyway, it's ripped from Dino City, of all games.

I mean: powerups, coins AND (maybe) a 1-UP. Sorry if I wasn't understandable.
And one more things: the status bar's palette is a bit weird (I can't read it easly). Probably you can make it some better.

I got permission from Carol to use some of the coding of his really old sprites. Using this, I've now fixed up the minecart to work perfectly, and also the Whispy Woods!

Yeah, this stuff's quite old, so expect a really awesome update very soon. I'm just struggling to find time to work on this, but I have some inspiration regarding the Variable Width Cutscene editor thing. (And some of the new sprites).
