Super Odd World Walkthrough and Discussion Thread

Super Odd World

In case you didn't already download it from the Kaizo Hack Submissions thread, I put it here. This thread is sort of a walk-through for my hack Super Odd World ("not the other guy's, by the way). This will show off how to get through the hack and get all the secret exits leading to Bonus Levels and other stuff.

Secret Exits

1. Bone Maze

When you make it to Bone Maze, you should notice the fact that this is a red level. The secret exit here can be found by taking a path that's sort of "marked" by two munchers. This alternate path can be found just before you encounter the first Chargin' Chuck. The path is pretty straight-forward, and you'll notice the key and hole for sure while going down it.

2. Bonus Area

While on the course of the secret exit from Bone Maze, I might as well talk about this one, too. Now you might be thinking, why would a level called Bonus Area have an exit? Well, when you make it to the part with the coins, simply jump over the wall of translucent blocks to find the exit.

3. Central Island 2

Central Island 2 has 2 exits, of which the secret one can be found by going in the opposite direction that you should be going. When you make it out of the structure to jump to the fish area, instead go on top of the structure and head back to the entrance of the level. You'll find the key and hole on top of structure while heading left.

4. Davy Jones' Locker

The last red level. This one's secret exit can be found when you, instead of heading up, go back to the area with the munchers after hitting the P Switch. You should now see a path leading to the top of the building. Take it, and at the top, dodge Chainsaws moving on lines. At the end of that, you'll find a maze with an overabundance of moons. The secret is somewhere in the mini-maze.

Other Stuff

1. Moons in the Maze

There are a few moons hidden in the first level, Maze Time. If you use your noodle, you might be able to find them all.

2. The Turn Blocks

In a few of the levels, turn blocks are used that bounce Mario around off the sides, just like a note block. I incorporated the use of these just to confuse players (and show off my use of the Direct Map16 block selection area).

3. Islands 2 Secret Moons

In the level "Islands 2" there are two moons hidden up on top of a structure made of translucent blocks. Since the screen doesn't pan up, however, you are not able to see them.

4. The Useless Path

There is an alternate path in the level "Islands 1" that has no purpose whatsoever. The door there just brings you back to the beginning of the level. This path can be accessed through the upper path when the main path splits in two (or more simply put, got to the top of the cave).

There you have it. If there's anything else you want to know, just mention it and I'll put it up. And, yes, this is a Kaizo(ish) hack. Deal with it.

I knew those, but I somehow missed the key in Bone Maze. My apologies for saying:

The only way to continue is to get the secret exit in Bone Maze, but the pipes are blocked by cement blocks. I'll take them out to continue playing, but keep that in mind.

I saw that message box that said:
"This... thing has
been sealed off
for your
protection. I
call
it................

Illusiyellow!"
It was hilarious! I love it!

This is a weird glitch... In The Underground Mt. 2nd area, I was almost at the top, that was when I was in the cement block area, with the AFHB (Amazing Flying Hammer Bro.). I killed the AFHB, and then I went up on it, and guess what...HE CAME BACK! That's how I got hit by it.

I know. I used a well-known glitch (known as Sprite Limitations) to make you think you've killed it, but when the second one that's on-screen goes off, the remaining one comes back.

An even weirder glitch (exploited by cruc1f1x21) results in AFHB disappearing, but the hammers remain generating in one spot continuously. I'm not sure as to how that happened, though, because the second AFHB wasn't on-screen and the AFHB hadn't already been killed.

Also, fell free to give me any feedback you might have about the OW (excluding Events, cuz' I'm no good at that).

The raft of Peaceful Raft level changes color depending on what level you play on. =O
Peaceful Raft...? Oh, yes! I used on of the palettes that don't quite work right with the game, so as to provide a little bonus. Y'know, if you beat, say, a castle and come back to that level, the OW tiles will be an eye-pleasing pale blue. But if you beat the level before Peaceful Raft the OW tiles will be a vomitty colour. Sort of a bonus for beating levels.
