How to make a good looking overworld

If you press the button with the iceberg on it in the overworld editor, you get a window containing every single 8x8 overworld tile, including angled land tiles, ready to be pasted into your overworld.

Yoshi, its re-he-heaaaaly hard to find what you want in there, isn't the an easier way?
You can always make a copy of the original SMW overworld in the event tile area, so that you can just copy objects from there.

Realy nice guide. Start to make my OW. n00b question: How i can delete the sprites?.
i just lurk sometimes

Click the Lakitu shown above, and you can then select and delete sprites
Your layout has been removed.
Actually, you can't delete overworld sprites like that, just move them. To delete them, click the fish button and select "None" in the appropriate dropdown box.

Here's a before and after pic of my overworld for my current hack with the paths showing.

i still have a problem with "blocky" issues, im trying to avoid that as much as possible, it's not quite finished yet but I'm getting there.
I think a post layout goes here somewhere...

I like your overworld even if it is blocky ( bye the way I DON"T care about blocky overworlds).
Your layout has been renewed.

Whoa. . . Hey do you make overworlds like that? Each time I try, I can't go on!

I just have a general plan of what I want to do with the overworld areas, but just build the overworld as I progress through making the levels and such.

you need to get 8x8 tiles off the 8x8 tile selector (iceberg button) and
keep them in pallets 4-7

Well, what I mean by "I can't go on", I mean I can't go to another level.

if you mean the paths

click layer 1 16x16 editor (ghost house) and click a level, and open "modify level tile settings" dialogue (yellow level marker) under "standard layer 1 level tile settings" change the direction to enable once you complete the normal or secret exit

</table>
Okay. But, how do you change where Mario starts?

Mario doesn't spawn where I place the sprite. He ends up on the wrong tile.
