I always thought that the "NEW" at the top of the site was noticeable enough.

What do you mean? I've never seen that.

It's only on certain site schemes.
May I suggest to create a YI Hacks and original GFX Section? It'll might interesting...
Fierce Deity is cool.
Workin' in OW request...
Currently attendind Scape Santa, but I don't know what to do...
I like the search bar idea and the "main username" idea. I like the one about not allowing two names from the same computer to prevent reregistering as well, but I can see a problem with that: if somebody has forgotten their password, then unless there is another computer at somebody's house nearby, they're screwed. I had it happen to me two weeks after registering for the first time on this site. If I hadn't reregistered to get my old account back, I probably wouldn't be on this site today.

A suggestion I have, though, is a new thread, "Intermediate SMW Hacking." This would bridge the gap between N00b or Basic SMW Hacking and Advanced SMW Hacking, so people could ask questions in between "zomg how do u make a secondery exit" and "My custom boss glitches up on the 14th animation frame. My tilemap is dcb $28, $2A, $48, $4A, and I have a JSR to the secondary spawning routine that is based on the binary input of the 51st byte in...". This thread would probably be centered around people who are pretty familiar with Lunar Magic itself, and are decent with a couple other programs, but still run into occasional difficulties. For instance, someone might know how to use Addmusic, but one particular song isn't working, and they don't know why. Or they might know how to insert custom sprites, but there are a few sprites that aren't behaving like they're supposed to. Maybe somebody even wants to remap a custom sprite's graphics, but can't quite figure it out. I think a thread like this might be useful. It's a possibility, anyway.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
I think posts in the forum games or WoI forums shouldn't count towards postcount total. :D

You sick bastard. nice avatar btw!

My suggestion: We should get to review ExGFX like we do hacks!

By the looks of it, the submission system needs an overhaul. There needs to be a way to submit an updated version of something. It also could use some cleaning; I see like 6 different SMB3 Pipes patches/blocks, with no real indication which is the best.

Change this dithered background to a proper alpha-blended PNG. Or at least make that a selectable theme.

Second the smilies and the "Stab over TCP/IP" feature.

On Jul there was this neat thing set up where certain people could customize the user info next to their post (e.g. having a background image there). That'd be neat to have (obviously only for staff and/or people who make really nice layouts).
(I could fake it with some CSS trickery, but that has a tendency to break things when you have different themes, non-fixed table width, etc. <_<)

BTW, for search: Google: 1337 h4x site:www.smwcentral.net
Heck, put a Google Custom Search box in. They display text ads on the results pages, which might help with the whole hosting costs thing.

...Also, apparently the italics tag doesn't work.

I think we need some more restrictions on ExGFX submissions.

For example, who is ever going to use this? I don't mean to bash that rip, I'm sure he worked hard on it, but we need some kind of limitation; if it's beyond reasoning that it would ever have a good use, it needs to be denied :|

EDIT: Post 900 get

I beg to differ ;)
HH: The italics problem is probably caused by the <_< in your post. The HTML filter is... well... not as good as I thought it was when I first made it. It isn't something I care to fix as SMWC2 will have an entirely new filter. Try changing the < to <. I suspect it breaks because of the unclosed tag start.
No one has made a suggestion for a while, so i might as well:

I have been reading posts and things in the IRC about too many PM's in an inbox, and how lag occurs when you sometimes open your inbox or how you can't find certain PM's because there's so many. So, why don't we have a grouping feature? It can be by user, ie: All PM's by SNN are stored in one link, and all PM's by Blumiere are stored in another link, or using any other grouping system you see fit (like Yoshi's Island-related PMs, SMW PMs etc.)

I might not have as many PM's as someone else, but this is just a useful idea ;)

(Btw, i know the obvious fix is to delete old PMs, but you might want to keep them ...)
...how about the ability to rate reviews based on accuarcy and fairness. ...though people who don't agree with a review could ...rate it low.

I'd enjoy it if we all kept our post levels when we switch over, however I might just be a major post++er!
I suggest that on the "waiting to be moderated" list, you should be able to see who is moderating what.
Now with extra girl and extra hacker

Waiting to be moderated means nobody has moderated it yet. V_v

...a moderator may be half finished moderating a hack. Hacks may take over 20 hours to play through, ...so Noobish wants to know who is currently moderating it. I'm sure a moderators will tell the others ...not to moderate the one they are doing to prevent conflict.

A nice suggestion would be to be able to preview reviews. It would help me and other reviewers preview reviews instead of editting and seeing how the review looks, and going back and forth.

Another would be able to sort hacks by number of exits, and put the ones with unknown at the bottom. We can already sort them by hack name, date, author, if it's a demo, it's rating, and the # of downloads, so why not # of exits?

Yet another fine suggestion would be to choose which forums alert you of new posts, because I don't care if World of Insanity has new posts, I care if Basic Hacking has new posts.

I was just browsing the Hack Removal Log, and I noticed that 4 consecutive hacks were removed because they were roms.

My suggestion is to have a filesize limit so it would be impossible to submit roms. (I assume that even after it's compressed in a .zip file, the filesize would still be bigger than an IPS patch compressed in a zip file)
Luigi-San:
I don't think that'd work. The .IPS for DW:TLC (unzipped) is 1.5 MB, while many roms are 1 MB (unzipped), so I don't think that a filesize limit will stop roms.
Or rather, it propably will, but it'll give a false positive on almost any good hack.
However, some script that checks if there's any files with the extension .SMC in the .ZIP file would propably work (scripts for this already exists, gmail blocks zipped .EXE's).
(Also, we already have a filesize limit (2MB).)

HyperHacker
Yes, it'd be fairly trivial to examine a zip file's contents for ROMs.
