SMRPG hacking Questions? Post here!

Yeah, THIS is the ultimate ROM hacking flaw. You can never (or almost never) add new graphic files and such. You can only replace them.

In smw, it's the same. You can add exgfx, but you replace the gfx in order to use it.
Our world will stop advancing once humans manage to create sufficient magnificence for a whole lifetime. Until then, I just create.
Awesome video game music on my youtube channel

Not that I know of. You can change the sprite animation for attacks, though. An example would be switching Ice Rock with Flame Stone. The process is rather long, though. I can't really explain it in detail here.

You can also change Pallets to give the attacks a whole new feel. Look at all the things in the pallet editor. Everything from drain to even the A/B/X/Y grid can be changed.

For the moving, make sure the action # is set right. I haven't worked with any save points I personally put into a level yet, but this is a likely cause. Other things can include the Event number the save uses or even it's position on the map. The latter is far more likely because the people who made the Bomb-Omb mafia, the hack that is the Super Demo World for Lazy Shell, so to speak, didn't use any saves. That last statement depends on if I remember right, however.

As for dropping down, check to make sure that the "Sequence playback" box is marked. Also check and manipulate the Bit check boxes at the bottom of that section of the editor. They matter quite a bit.

Edit: From what I gathered, ALL BUT 1 of the saves in the original game use the following:

Event # 80
Action # 120
Bits: B6, b6/B7, b7

(the one in [0DC] uses a different event then the rest. Other then that, all of the above follow true for all save points.)

The extra marked bits, sprite #, and pallet + # fluctuate. I'd advice some experimentation on a separate, clean Rom.

In the Level editor, under the "Fields" tab, look just under the event field section, to the right. You'll see "level properties." Music can be adjusted from there.

If you meant the music for the battle fields, (ex: Bowser's Theme at the beginning when you first fight him) that can be found in the Stat editor, under the "Formations" section. Look for "Formation Properties" and you'll see a music section for it. You'll need to pick the formation that you want the battle music changed for.

I've only used LazyShell once... But I think I know what you're talking about. Do you have the copy of "Lunar Compress.dll" in the same folder as LazyShell?
Now with extra girl and extra hacker

I've never gotten this before, but you might have to simply extract the files from a zipped folder.

Scripts work, but everything else gives me a warning message, saying that it is unable to load DDL 'Lunar Compress.dll" and that the specified module could not be found. Does that mean I should put all the lunar compress files into the Lazy shell folder?

well since it is partly a square (soft?) creation, turning it into a final fantasy game would be interesting. you should leave goombas in though, just for kicks. Make it a boss named "Demonic Fungus" or something :P

I got it working again. Now, whenever I try opening my hacked game, the front door doesn't work. Now, I can't test my new enemy! Can anyone help me?
Did you remove the exit? Are you using preview rom? The preview doesn't work with the door for me.
How can I not use the preview rom? I didn't use an enemy that was used in the game so can I attach the enemy into my hack?
Save the rom, then open the whole thing in your SNES emulator of choice.

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.
If not for respect, but dramatic effect, take on the face of Guy Fawkes.
Can we change attack names and what the attack does?
Like, can i make Geno use Genocide, then the enemies lose all their health (or maybe 255 or something)?
