The reason the VIP Mario series are on the site is simply that it was on the site before the hacks were wiped and submissions standards were truly created. We're not going to retroactively delete the hack simply because standards have changed from the time when it was submitted. Yes it may have errors that would earn it deletion now, but it's on the site, had been before the wipe, and if anything ever happened and we had to re-upload hacks, I'd allow them on once more.
Originally posted by raocow- though I have always had the impression that mods made exception when the total is more then the sum of the parts. I mean, even TSRPR has weird cut-off vines in parts, and smi2 gets pretty much in kaizo-range of difficulty about midway through.
It's like raocow says, we tend to go for a quantity thing when moderating hacks. Each VIP hack is a finished hack with level totals ranging from 50-90 (I estimate). We're not going to delete a hack like that based on a few isolated instances throughout the hack. If it's a common problem as you go, then maybe it'll get nuked. And of course, if there's a game-breaking glitch, then that's a deletion for unplayablitiy.
However, another thing to keep in mind with the VIP series is that they were submitted here by the people and that was that. If we deleted it, it's likely they wouldn't fix anything just for us or resubmit because they were probably expecting it to just be accepting and that's it. So deleting it would probably make it so we'd never again be able to host it here. And knowing how good parts of the hack are, it'd be a shame to delete it because of a few bad palettes, floating munchers and/or cutoff.
