Okay, change in plan, guys- No custom bosses. Why? Well... The complexity of the GFX stuff, and the fact that adding it would mean I'd no longer have a vanilla hack... You guys don't mind, right?

This time, I have 4 pics of the 2nd level, Morton's Springs! Ehh... Not much of a hot spring, really. Yet.

This is an underwater cave. Errr... Not like the part you're swimming through in the other pics, I mean. I'm talking the kind that's deep underwater, yet has large pockets of air, so it's like a normal cave. Just deep underwater.

SuzyM: What 5th screenshot? I'm trying to figure out what you're talking about. Could you show me which pic you mean? I don't see any cutoffness in my pics. (In fact, I do my best to avoid that by any means necessary, even if it means throwing out my original plan if the fix entails using Direct Map16 Access, which I am avoiding the use of, as one of my personal restrictions.)

Neko: Heheheheheeee... Not counting the secret levels, 6 of 'em. I'm not telling how many secret levels there will be, but I'll say this right now:

One of the levels in this hack (normal or secret, I won't say) is a Switch Palace. Now, if I end this with a Morton battle, I won't have a Switch activate, right? Well, here's my plan for that: You hit the Switch to end the level the first time, but it doesn't destroy the Palace. Instead, you can enter it again to find a passage to a door opened, which will lead to MORTON! Nice idea, no? I mean, this is EVERY LEVEL MORTON!, so EVERY level MUST have Morton in it!

Also, to all those who have not played EVERY LEVEL IGGY! yet, I greatly advise you to do so. That way, you'll know what to expect from EVERY LEVEL MORTON!. ^_^

Actually, I have a little suggestion. I know you won't use custom bosses, but maybe you could make modifications to the original boss to make it a little harder in each level. The first battle would be exactly the same as the SMW version, but later battles could use Bullet Bill generators, and maybe fireballs (I don't know if they work in Morton arenas).

Hmm, I've never played EVERY LEVEL IGGY!. Maybe I should.

I could probably make a hack called "Every Level Palenemy Lakitu Boss". I love those guys. The cloning thing reminds me of an idea I had for a semi-serious hack, in which the main villain has the power to replicate herself. Many of the bad guys would also do that, similar to what Splittin' Chuck does. The problem is, in order to make enemies and bosses that have that ability, I'd probably have to add a good deal of ASM to the game, and I'm just not that good with ASM yet. That's the problem with all my great hack ideas; they all require new custom sprites and usually custom bosses. If custom bosses are as difficult to make as everyone says they are, then why do so many people say they're going to include them? Oh, believe me, it's not like I don't want to eventually learn enough ASM to make a custom boss. But in the meantime, I have to be satisfied with the dime-a-dozen bosses everybody knows.

I like the idea of making a seven(eight?)-part series. EVERY LEVEL LEMMY!, EVERY LEVEL WENDY!, and EVERY LEVEL BOWSER! would be the easiest to make, since Lemmy and Wendy's boss rooms can be edited and you can edit Bowser's boss room if you use the SMB1 Bowser...which happens to have four different settings.

@ Pikaguy900: It would be awesome that when you finish your EVERY LEVEL (Blah) Series, you would do a boss room with all 10 bosses in it; or, just 1 boss in each room, kind of like a boss rush.

No. Those sorts of things wouldn't really increase the difficulty. Besides, they're ALL the ORIGINAL boss. Never anything else.

imamelia: I don't know if there will be an EVERY LEVEL BOWSER! or not. If I were to make one, I'd have to fit it in with the EVERY LEVEL theme, which is ORIGINAL SMW BOSSES ONLY. Thus, you'd be facing the SMW Bowser over and over again, and that's the one boss I'd NEVER show multiple times. The theme of the EVERY LEVEL series is Vanilla Hack with Changed Palettes. Basically, all I change are the OW, Levels, and the palettes. Nothing more. Oh wait, and the title screen and credits. (But just to add a message to the end. ^_^)

So yeah. Even EVERY LEVEL LEMMY! and EVERY LEVEL WENDY! will remain the same, except for TWO things... The background, and the tileset. Design will still remain the exact same. (Also, take that in this way: No, I'm not making EVERY LEVEL BOWSER!.)

I just finished up the Normal Exit for Morton's Lake, which was previously "Morton's Springs". I HAVE PICTURES. ENJOY, OR DIE!


Monty Moles have (somewhat) infested this level...or at least, the first part.


Deep into the level, Mario finds a Vine. Where does it lead?!


Why, into the sky, of course! There's really nothing to do here but go to the left for a few coins...right?


Ahh, the midway point. There's no enemies here, so you can relax...until you remember that you have a time limit! (Also, update: ? Block forced up above that hill.) Incidentally, this is the same level number that the underwater cavern for the underwater part is on. :p


Finally, we've reached the lake! Go swimming!


What's this? Where does that door lead...? (No, I didn't edit graphics or do super special palette work- This is a Layer 2 level!)


An underwater tunnel...


And eventually, you find yourself back in the lava caves. This leads into Level 3, Morton's Cavern! ...Before you ask why that goal post has no goal tape on it, please remember the name of this hack. Remember, this hack ends every level with Morton. However, unlike EVERY LEVEL IGGY!, all levels will be absolutely complete!

I won't reveal my plans for Morton's Cavern, it might ruin the puzzle I want to put into it. For the same reason, I may not show screenshots of it, either. But just know this- the look of it will be the same as i just showed in the final screenshot here.

AWESOME! Every screenshot you showed looks very good, as well as all your paletting! I love the design you're showing, and I'll surelly play this hack when it's released.

I actually never got around to playing EVERY LEVEL IGGY!, but I had planned to. I really think the levels have fantastic design to them and the overworld is very unique. I like the palettes you've used and how the levels have different split-paths to make the game much more fun. Fantastic job, Matt!
