Yes, the FastROM Patch.
So, can you release it with the slowdown patch?
Nope. That patched just screwed up my ROM. :( (Don't worry I made a backup)
*sigh* I guess I'll just delete a few unnecessary sprites and hope it gets accepted...
Allright, I fixed some of the slowdown and resubmitted it to the hacks section. I'm not posting a link yet, though. I need to make sure it gets accepted first.

Consider it accepted!

The area I had the most trouble with (the weird scrolling one) still had a bit of slowdown, but it was much more playable.

Don't know what the eff "awry" means? Never PM me.

My Hacks:

wow, the demo is really great:)
it has some slowdown but nothing major.too bad, that you can't get to the castle:( the star temple is my favourite level:D also, the overworld looks really nice:P will you have more minigames like the coin minigame in the sewers?

Your hacks is really good, man. I'm now in Kamek's Tower.

BAD POINTS:

I've found a small graphic glitch: When you kill a super koopa (These ones with a cape), they don't wear sunglasses, but when you kill them, they appear with sunglasses. Really easy fix. Also, I've found lots of areas with slowdown. Yoshi's Plains, Kamek's Tower, Koopa Fortress and specially in Yoshi's Lake (With Layer 3 Tides, which apparently makes the level more slow than the normal). It's caused by Blocktool. I think you should consider applying either this, because you're using the old blocktool, or use BTSD. Other bug in Koopa's Fortress: When you hit the P, you can't free up the YI Chomp Rock, because the smashable brick blocks can't be hit while the P-switch is on. But, there's a return pipe, so it doesn't cause many trouble. Other one: In the level that you go when you use the Yoshi Wings, why Yoshi is in a different color than the other levels? I didn't understand. I think you can fix the P-Switch with weird color bug changing the sprite that generates the P-Switch to pallete "B".

GOOD POINTS:

Levels aren't linear. There are lots of small puzzles with P-Switches and shells, which I like. The overworld is in a nice pallete, and very well designed, which is a plus. The music is well-used, they really fit in their levels. Continue doing the hack in this way, and it'll be a very good hack. I was going to rate it 8.5. But, there isn't 8.5 in the section, so I'm going to rate it 9.0.

Hm... and can you tell me... From what game is the music that is in Kamek's Battle? I've seen it in another 3 hacks, but I couldn't figure from what game it is. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm glad you enjoyed the hack. :)
I was beginning to worry that my hack would get rejected because of some small problem.

Yeah, I was planning on adding a lot of minigames and bonus games in some of the levels in a later demo.

It's the final battle music from Final Fantasy 4, and it's available in the custom music section.

Oh! And if you guys are wondering when the next demo will come out, it will be a while. The next demo will be a 3 world demo, and I've decided to take a little break from SMW hacking. I'll probably be porting songs more often now, so expect to find a lot of new songs on the custom music page.
I've started working on Demo 2 now. But before I start working on the next world, I've made a few changes to the first world:

The silver star icons on the map represent which levels have secret exits. To get the secret exit on those levels, you need to collect all 5 silver stars, kind of like Super Mario 64. I've also applied Smallhacker's Extended Level Names Patch. Here's a video of the Silver Stars:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AhYdcNET094&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AhYdcNET094&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
(Thanks goes to Iceguy for helping me code the silver stars) And now it's no longer required to press the Green Switch to pass the level. You only need to press it if you want the secret exit.

And I've also replaced the empty Star Temple level with this:

It's a shop where you can use the Power Stars that you've collected to buy certain items. (The star icon counts how many power stars you have.) But there's still a lot of work that needs to be done. What do you guys think?
about your shop:
the things are too cheap.
A Mushroom for 5 Coins....It should be 10 Coins.

about your Hack:
It was playable, but it had tons of slowdowns and your levels are soooo long,it was a bit frustrating.I gave it a 6,because...I explained it.
But this hack was one of my favorites, because it had a good story, nice music and a cool boss. You edited the Big Boo Boos GFX into Kamek.Thats the best Idea, that I ever saw!

By the way, I gaved up hacking SMW. I think I'll come back, but not yet. ~ X-King

They're not coins, they're Power stars. That's the amount of exits that Mario has gotten.

Yeah...don't worry. I'll make sure to fix the slowdown in this demo. Just as soon as someone makes an Xkas version of the FastROM patch. The IPS version just crashes my ROM. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
YESYES, NEWS FROM THIS HACK! :D

I'm glad to know that you tweaked the second level a little bit - one of my few complaints about your levels was the second level's concept, of activating a switch in the switch palace in order to proceed. I also liked your silver star idea - it reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy, actually. To be honest, I had ALMOST the same idea you did a while ago, and I plan on turning it into something neat to my hack. I'll do the best to don't immitate yours too much though. ^_^

Oh, and also, that's a nice little shop. I would only suggest to replace the sprites for the items with tiles instead, as it would cause less slowdown in the shop.

Also, you've probably already seen my review for your hack, but I would like to say again that this hack has lots of potential - I can't wait to see more from it, and play the second demo, by the time it comes out. ^_^
Thanks! ^^
The silver star idea was sort of my brother's idea. I was thinking that I should make Mario have to grab a silver power star to get the secret exit, and my brother suggested that he should collect 5 silver stars instead of just 1, like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. So I went with that idea.
Also, I re-did my port of "Make Eggs, Throw Eggs" for the second level:

YI-Make_Eggs_Throw_Eggs.spc

What do you think?
Hey guys. I haven't updated in a while. But I have done a lot to my hack. First of all, I'd like to announce that I have finally fixed all of the slowdown in my hack by switching to Blocktool Super Deluxe! :D Some of the blocks acted a little glitchy, but I managed to fix them.

Also, I've replaced some of the songs in my hack. I improved Bluemoon's port of Good Egg Galaxy:

Old version
New version

And I made my own port of the New Super Mario Bros. theme instead of the Addmusic version:

Old version
New version

And I also made a new port of "Hop Hop Donut Lifts" from Yoshi's Island:

Old version
New version

But I still have a lot more to show. I also made some custom power-ups for my hack.
Here's a video
(Some of you may have already seen this in the "ASM Projects Show-off Thread") The first powerup allows Mario to break through cracked blocks if he's big, and the second powerup allows Mario to Wall-jump.

And here are some screenshots of a secret level in World 2 called "Fun with Switches":

This level requires you to have both of the custom power-ups to beat the level. Also, translucent Layer 3 FTW!

Looks like we need a key to get through that door.

How will I get that springboard?

Whoa! That's a big fish!

Looks like I need a P-Switch to get into that pipe.

Random Screenie

Looks like I need a springboard to get up there.

I'll just hit this switch then.

Looks like hitting that switch freed the springboard.

BOOOOOOOING!

So. What do you guys think? I may post a video of the level later.
Everything seems awesome, as usual, Jimmy. This new level looks as unlinear as your other levels, which is great - your level design is really cool, and you're really talented at making levels, I must admit. Your several ports sound great too, but nothing has changed so much between your version of the Good Egg Galaxy port and Bluemoon's, except that you added the very start of the song in yours port, heh. :P

I have a small complaint, though - the log tiles in the 7th screenshot kind of make a small cutoffness in the sandy ground - I would suggest adding an edge to the ground cut by the log tiles, rather than keeping it up like that. Other than that, everything you showed off seems amazing. Great job once again, buddy! ;)

EDIT: Also, yeah, a video would be great for me! <:P
Your levels are always awesome Jimmy52905, just like 3 other guys hacks. Anyway, the level is very unlinear, the springboard ideas are nice, and your hack always has cool graphics, Custom music, etc.
Can't wait for another update, video. =D

Edit: I just found a minor error, only one though, so still good job. In the last screenshot, the wooden post/pole rising to the ledge is making the ledge cut-off, may want to fix this. Other then that, cool level. =D
meh
There's nothing bad from the screenies.
Good work Jimmy!

Thanks for the comments, guys. ^_^
I fixed the cutoffness in the ground already. And also, I have a video of the first part of the level! :D

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/alYDoe6CLfY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/alYDoe6CLfY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And not only that, but I also have a video showing something new I did to the Overworld, using Carol's Overworld Spritetool. I created a custom sprite that causes the music to change depending on whether Mario is on the top half or the bottom half of the overworld.

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://s399.photobucket.com/flash/player.swf?file=http://vid399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/J52905/OWSpriteTool.flv"></embed>

What do you guys think?
My main comment regarding this update consists of 3 words - I AM IMPRESSED.

Your level design is definitely awesome, and the song that your ported for that level definitely matches with the environment you created for it - you really made a great choice of instruments. This level looks like a lot of fun - I can't wait to the next demo, this is one of my favorite hacks from the site, and I still don't get why it's not featured - I know that there's a lot of slowdown within the demo you released to the site, but apart from that, your hack is fantastic. Oh, and speaking of slowdown, it's quite good to know that you get rid of most of the slowdown of the hack. ;)

As for your overworld custom sprite, it's quite nice as well, and it's rather creative too. Aside from your amazing level design, you're also doing a nice job with the ASM stuff the hack features - can't wait to see what you'll be up to next! :3
