Really good Hack, can't wait til "release"

Great hidden exit btw :P
I just realized I never posted the newest video (at least not in this thread). Might be interesting for those who haven't played the demo yet. It shows the normal exit of Iggy's Tower.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jDVWAVyg8fs&hl=de&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jDVWAVyg8fs&hl=de&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

By the way, I'm working on something semi-secret for C3... It has nothing to do with the hack though.

I love the whole hack, and I've playe through the first demo and loved it, but I have one thing to say:
How about you edit the palette or GFX of Iggy's platform? It doesn't fit in with the rest of the level.
I love the hack, though, really great job!
Everything has a reason.
Glitched graphics are there to get annoyed at.
Bad palettes are there to induce vomiting.
N00bs are there to ask stupid questions.
I'm here, because I wanna be.

Yup! Great hack cant wait for the next area!

Your doing a great job dude! Keep it up!
Time for an update... This time it's a video again! :D

EDIT: Slightly new presents logo:

That level was very clever. I liked that you used 2 different types of goombas, and how the 50-coin blocks could turn against you.
Nice level once again, Wye! It looks really enjoyable and well-designed. I also like the YI theme from "Touch Fuzzy get Dizzy" that you included in the level - it's somewhat catchy and relaxing. I also like the cutscene that you included before the level itself, it definitely adds some more information to the plot of your hack. ;)
I think that was a great level! The 50-coin blocks for the munchers was a great idea! I've got a great idea myself! If you make a key under some 50-coin blocks and have some over some ditches you could require the player to run and jump over those with the key and fly up to a key hole! You've put in two creative secret exits so far, so it'll be tough to make more.... I hope this counts!
Also, (I forgot to mention this...) but I think that you shouldn't have used Iggy.... You could have made a boss that requires you to kill a bunch of enemies or just used a different koopa kid....
Also, I like how you hid the midway point but, shouldn't it not be difficult to get too?
Well, it's not too well hidden IMO... the 3 cement blocks kinda tell there's something down there. Also, you can see a little bit of the pit at 1:24.

EDIT: I don't see why Iggy as the first boss is bad... Okay, he's a bit too overused, but there could be worse things. By the way, I still have problem with Sprite Tool (I know how to insert sprites, they're just all glitched up), so I probably won't be using any more custom sprites.

I want to give you another tip: Please do not overuse the munchers. World 1 already had enough of them... Maybe try something different? Some munchers really look like fillers, so, yeah. Use some passages like turn block bridges, springboards, floating platforms on water etc. It makes thing much more interesting, dolphins may be also very handy in this world, since it's full of islands.

The graphics are very nice, I love the bg!

That's weird... does every single sprite that you insert in the hack become all glitched up? Have you put the ExGFX for the custom sprites correctly?

Yes to both, unfortunately. I haven't tried inserting generators yet, so that *may* work, and I could at least do a semi-custom boss fight with a level ender sprite.

Have you tried using Romi's version of Sprite Tool? It seems less buggy than the original Sprite Tool.

Let me know if you need help with this - I'd like to see this hack be as good as it can be.

[?] Miscellaneous Helpful Hints
If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.
I thought of an idea for your gfx! How 'bout you make pokey's fireballs tubleweeds? :)
@Simple Bag: Please check dates on threads before posting. 13 days counts as a bump.

@WhiteYoshiEgg: PM me with an update to have this thread reopened.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Thanks for reopening, Kyo! By the way, I sent the same "please reopen" PM to edit1745 before , but apparently he wasn't online long enough to read it... He'll probably be a little surprised.

Anyway, on to the real topic: I somehow got motivated to work on the hack again! I was kinda depressed by the OW glitch. Now I decided to transfer everything to a new ROM again, and thankfully the glitch is fixed now. In other new, I used Romi's Addmusic this time, as AMME seemed to be incompatible with custom sprites. Now take a look at this:

Custom sprites are finally working! :D I've updated Goomba Island with some Giant Goombas.

Now for some other minor updates:

Another slightly new presents logo.

New colors for the title screen font.

New custom ground GFX. I plan on using them in forests, but I'm not quite sure about releasing them yet...
(I know about the wrong corner tile BTW, I'm still working on it.)

So... Feedback is appreciated. Prepare to see new updates soon (hopefully)!
Also, in case you don't know yet, Demo 2 will NOT be released at C3. I mean, I've got one and a half level done, and I've yet to make about 12 levels... it will take some time. I plan on showing some bonus material at C3 though, like level sketches of (partially) unused levels and a very early beta IPS.

Those graphics are really good, as usual. I like those custom ground tiles, and so do I like your fonts (Logo + Titlescreen).
The Logo effect (light at top, slightly darker at bottom) makes the font look quite nice.

It's good to see that you're still continuing this hack, and eh ; why shouldn't you continue? It's a nice hack.

Keep it up.
--------> Don't follow "Find Roy's Dignity", my hack. Because it's pretty outdated. <--------
Oh... it's such a nice thing to see more updates from PA!

I'm glad to see that you're using Custom Sprites, this hack really needed some sort of them. The title screen is also much better now, the font colors are lighter and way better IMO. And about the new grass graphics... they're great! I would suggest to keep them with you, and avoid releasing them, although that's just my opinion.
I've always loved Pokey's Adventure and I have a feeling it's going to be one of the top hacks of the time being. It's going to be amazing at C3 /anxious :P
D:...

Some small updates again.

Pretty much the final version of the ground GFX. I think I could also use them in world 2 already, I'm not too satisfied with my other ground GFX...

Oh, and I need some opinions about the block style... Should I stick to the old question blocks, or should I use these?

Comments would be nice. :P
