Saph and the Great Rebellion *C3 UPDATE*

Standard

Well of course he gets the final say, its his hack. I'm just a fan throwing some ideas out there. Buster Beetle would be cool though, imagine the boss possibilities.
I have a hack thread - Link (Now with a demo!)

The movie looks good, but you're still using these 8-bit turn block bridges. Also shouldn't the movie be in the first post too?
And now a more...important...thing.

I can't remember that I allowed you to change my upsidedown triangles. I'd allow you to do that if you asked, but trying to change them without asking doesn't sound very good to me.

Sorry.... I was getting impatient by 6 hours and... well... you hadn't been on for two days... and... stuff like this... and... I'll stop.... I'm sorry.... I should have waited.... I should have... and I didn't.... I figured that I wasn't doing anything yet.... I was trying to see how I could edit the code.... I got carried away.... Beat up on me.... It's the only way I can feel even slightly better about this....

EDIT: Just so this doesn't happen again... saying you don't need credit is... well... asking for it to be modded....
@ Alcaro: Good idea. I'll add the video to the first post. Also, I guess I hadn't realized that we should've asked you permission before making any edits to the usdtri code. Sorry about that. I hope there's no harm done.

@ Anti-Matter Drone: There's no use in feeling like that. Just apologize and then ask permission. There's no need to beat up on yourself.
This hack looks so fun....cant...wait...to....play.....
Could i possibly test it :)
Why... is... everyone... talking... like... this...?

Anyway, I still can't wait to see what the demo's going to be like. I think the levels are probably going to be straight-forward though, since Parabuzzy can only climb walls....

What gave you that idea?
Parabuzzy can't jump, which means his only method of traveling would be walking on walls. The only other ways of travel I can think of are springboards, note blocks, etc...
Pipes, the flight powerup, dropping off the ceiling to a place you cant normally reach... I'm sure theres more, but those are examples of how he could make levels not so linear.

First of all, the character's name is Saph. Please try to call him by his actual name. Otherwise you might offend him. D':

Anyway, in all seriousness, though, I took out the jump ability for a reason; to make the player approach the staes in a whole different way. Sure, in any other Mario game, lack of jumping would be a huge limitation, but I am designing this game in a way that st many points you won't even notice the ability is even gone. Saph does fine without jumping, and I have actually found that puzzle and secret ideas seem to come ro me very easily in this design style. As Namelessprotagonist said, wall and ceiling running can actually lead to many great things if you keep an open mind to it. You're not the first to ask about how secrets and nonlinear levels are going to work, though. I suppose to prove this point, I'll make a new video soon, showing a couple examples of these ideas. Stay tuned. ;)
Sorry Saph... DON'T SHELL SHOCK ME!

*me runs out of thread*
do you just have to press up to go climb a wall or can you just keep pressing left or right? i really like the hack

:D If you do the Buster Beetle powerup, I will give you infinite praise and love you forever. The ASM in this hack makes me proud of how far smw hacking has come, that such things would be possible to make. It seems like a very unique and interesting game, and I am defenitely looking forward to trying it.

I might be able to pull that off but that would be rather difficult.... Sorry!

Thank you, but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank a few people, Alcaro and Anti-Matter Drone specifically, for helping with the ASM in this hack. I myself kinda, well, suck at ASM. I wouldn't be able to pull off anything this awesome on my own. Thanks for everything, guys.
Just have to ask, when you climb a wall or ceiling do you have to continually move in that direction to avoid dropping like you would normally in SMW? It would seem beneficial if you could find a way to make Saph have the ability to sit on a wall/ceiling without falling.

Make a morton boss battle like in the original smw, it would be ownage with saph. If you can get it to work, that would own. You would have to drop down from the ceiling on him after he drops down on you, in fact, lemmy/wendy would be pretty fun too...

Any updates on this hack?
Who knows what post number this is?

Why did you do a month bump? He will post updates when the time comes. My guess is C3 is keeping things secret.

Anyways, to make this post not pointless... I can't wait to see what new things happened. The idea of playing a Mario where you can't jump is very interesting.
Working on something!
