HackJam Judge And User Voting RESULTS!!!!

It took a bit longer than planned, but it’s finally time for the results of our first ever HackJam! We have an excellent batch of entries (many of which are now available in our hack section), and a variety of trophies to hand out to them! All of the trophies were drawn by Teyla, and they’re spectacularly done!

First off, I want to thank our entire judge team for going through all twenty entries in a reasonable amount of time: Amethyst, JamesD28, and K.T.B. for Standard; and GlitchCat7, katun24, and lungfish3000 for Kaizo. I also want to thank our two backup judges, patcdr and Alex_X8 who were able to provide their reviews for the Standard and Kaizo entries, respectively.

Finally, I want to thank bebn legg, Doctor No, idol, Tahixham, and the rest of the PR Team for their excellent work in bringing this event together. I can’t wait to see future HackJams grow even bigger in size!

Well, thanks for coming everybody, don’t forget to make an entry for WLDC2! :)

....Oh right, I think I forgot something…

THE JUDGE AWARDS

Best in Show - Standard:

Best in Show - Kaizo:

THE USER AWARDS

NOTE: The following methodology was used when deciding the rankings of the User Voted Awards:
  • For categories 3 to 7, you can only rank 1st once, and 2nd once.
  • If you ranked 1st/2nd in multiple categories, the category you ultimately end up ranking in is the one you had the highest percentage of votes in.
  • Your ranking then get's passed down to the next entry that had the most votes. The process then repeats to finally decide who won which categories.
  • The reason behind this rule is to prevent the same two/three entries sweeping all the categories, therefore giving every entry a good chance at winning a category they deserve.

These first- and second-place trophies will be awarded to Standard entries that won a category in their respective place.
These first- and second-place trophies will be awarded to Kaizo entries that won a category in their respective place.

The rest of the entries that did not win any previous trophies will receive this participation trophy instead.

Finally, the judges and hosts will receive their own trophy as a thank you for their work.
Out of all the possible prizes, "Most Grandest Finale" was deffinitely the one I least expected our hack to win.

Congrats to everyone who won a trophy. I played a fair share of the standard entries and I really enjoyed most of them. Y'all earned your prizes here.
JamesD28 is now my least favorite mod after the HackJam. I'm still fine with Amethyst and KTB for liking it (We spent too much time on the boss). I can't wait to do this again next time!

You're still not forgiven, James.

Great job everyone! Congrats to the winners! #wario{<3}
Yay!! Congrats everyone <3

and thanks again Circle and Ham, pleasure to work with y'all!
I've admittedly never seen most of these hacks besides SMB For Lost Players and South Point Hotel, but I've heard that every Hackjam hack was very good. Congrats to all of the winners!
Check out my WIP romhack!
Just a quick note that I've added James' and katun's full review write-ups to the judging spreadsheet.

I am absolutely floored that our HackJam entry won four trophies!! Perhaps even flabbergasted or bewildered! But seriously, I didn't think this project would come so far, at least not to such an extent. IBoCP was admittedly rushed as the contest's end was drawing near, so seeing all the positive feedback for it through the forums and Discord and judge streams and likewise has been quite relieving. I'm still glad with what we were able to accomplish within the HackJam timeframe though, especially with the different directions things could've gone through the potential of a Mario and Touhou design philosophy mashup.

Congrats to the award winners and participants! A lot of cool and interesting hacks came out of this event, which in and of itself is an accomplishment. I'll be sure to play the ones I missed out on soon due to various distractions. Congrats and thanks to all the judges too for playing through the entries and reviewing them, it was very fun watching things happen live!

Thanks as well to the PR team for bringing HackJam into fruition! Without it, I wouldn't have been able to experience creating a hack in collaboration with fellow Touhou fans and friends, which was an enjoyable experience overall. Although, it also introduced me to the experience of crunch time for video game development, so there's that.

Anyways, time to get back to working on my WLDC2 entry!
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
good job everyone else with the hack jam
Congrats to everyone, and thank you judges for giving every entry thorough feedback and getting it done so quickly! I haven't really played any other entry beyond a little bit of a few, but I've seen a handful and so much incredible stuff came out of this event. I'd call it a success.

This was quite a fun event, all the deadline-related stress aside. I was really happy to see people enjoy our entry so much despite how rushed some aspects of it were. Stepping out of my comfort zone and collabing with different people than I'm used to was a really nice experience too. I have to give big props to the rest of my team for making such nice content for it, from levels to ASM, from graphics to music. Hopefully we'll get to polishing it up and submitting it to the section eventually.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
congrats to my buddies for making a cool hack, and winning too #smw{:TUP:}

congrats to the rest of the participants for being part of such a legendary contest
Glad to see the judges generally got some enjoyment out of our submission; makes it feel it was at least worth the rush to scramble getting it together at the end.
Congrats to all.
