Devoid Spirits II: Complete Soundtrack
+ Various Coverings
Version 3
Hello and welcome to my thread I timed on accurately!
Today I'm proud to announce that the full soundtrack of Devoid Spirits II of 2021 will be released both on central and as a playlist (soon),
which can be listened and downloaded to everyone here. Unlike it's predecessor from 2020, I used up an extra full day for sequencing
alone, only fitting in for a sequel like this.
It has 16 complete background tracks fitting to represent various scenes in the book, thus each track having a different vibe to others. Here's the complete tracklist in SPC form: (click to listen, right-click to download source files):
01 - Pumpkin Cult (dark/haunted/night)
02 - Dead Harvester (haunted/town)
03 - Gale Forest (dark/forest/night/mysterious)
04 - Unlit Candles (castle/dark)
05 - Skeleton Rave (!) (bonus)
06 - Goblin Echoes (cave/dark)
07 - Graveyard Spirits (dark/sad)
08 - Treat City (bonus/carnival/town)
09 - Trick's Auction (switch palace)
10 - Candy Factory (carnival)
11 - Abandoned Headquarters (haunted/industrial)
12 - Blood Moon (dark/sad)
13 - Parallel Worlds (!) (night/ruins)
14 - Joker I (!) (boss/carnival/chase/tense)
15 - Joker II (boss/dark/final/sad)
16 - Credits Roll (!) (credits)
Playlist in order (all songs above)
Download
These songs were created with SMW in mind so it can fit easily without much of quality loss.
I added tags for theme relatiblity, and (!) signifies some of my favorite works of this entire set.
In addition to this soundtrack, I also done some ports and arrangements of various games that I thought were useful as they're quite hidden in current state:
Music Coverings
Covers Playlist
Sampled Ports:
Final Zone II - Randy Hansen
A near perfect recreation of the Hansen song, which is short yet has a lot of
percussion to keep the tonality alive, and can fit in more calmer areas.
There are two versions included: An HQ version which is more cleaner but omits
some of uncommon SMW samples, or the SMW versions which keeps all the samples
in tact by losing quality.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - Capi Cave
This song has stuck in me for quite a long time since the last decade I've played this game fully, so I eventually had to port it.
I modified a lot of the samples to fit in closer to the typical SNES mix.
Rendering Ranger R2 - Stage 7
As requested, this song is quite the hit, with lots of old and interesting synth sections
that repeat progressively in the song and ported 1:1 into SMW, with more channels
given to the drums.
Unsampled ports:
Bonk's Adventure - Round 5
Version has been rearranged to fit in SMW intruments and adds in more
percussion along the way.
Joushou Mahjong Tenpai - Quiz
Pachinko Fan - Stand Theme 3
This game has some exciting tunes, so is this one.
It plays as one of the three possible background themes when visiting through the slots.
Rabi Laby 2 - Hint
When I found about this song, I thought it could well fit in the SMW instruments,
so I decided to port it here. It has a distinct feel of happiness and can be
utilized an athletic levels that are more laid back and not tense.
Super Black Bass 3 - Track 11
SBB3 is one of the SNES soundtracks I really like the most tracks in, many due to lack of
erroneous pitch bends that plagues the predecessors of the same series, making this particular
soundtrack more bearable and I'm looking for doing more ports of said game.
Super Black Bass 3 - Track 18
Now this song is one I'm overly excited about, mainly due to how this song utilizes some of
the greatest chord progressions I've heard, and it moves the tension that much further.
I suspect this is used in the last overworld, and it's fitting for final areas.
BRR Samples
(not for listening!)
In addition to music, I also have ripped more custom BRR packs from
various soundtracks which contains all samples from each game, divided into
various categories to use and insert into custom songs/rearrangements for more music.
You can listen to the SPCs to preview the instruments. Comes with BRRs and
patterns.txt to tune your instruments properly.
Bahamut Lagoon:
Easily one of the greatest RPGs that has been made on the SNES, and so are
the samples that make up the songs for this game.
Spriggan Powered
This one actually originates from a PlayStation game yet has samples that are
relatively short, easy to adapt for SNES usage, making it a true successor.
It's almost shaped like a SNES soundtrack, except that there can be more
samples/drums loaded at the same time usual.
Spriggan Powered
A late space shooter game with an insanely overloaded soundtrack and a
heavily synth-based sample pack with a lot of power and leads inside.
Rudra no Hihou
This game, unlike the other Square titles, has a unique sound palette which
makes up for more variation and a more dry sound overall.
Treasure Hunter G
Another string set of samples, accompanied by various composers and makes
up for a lot of reverb and synth elements.
Thanks to listening and check out by my thread! All the stuff present here I will submit soon enough to the SMW Music Sections and it's respective sections, so you will find it there soon enough. Comments are welcome here, and have a great C3!
