^ this. It's not certain how many days exactly, though.

No, today is solely the day where submissions close. sincx then needs a few days to compile the entries and set up the voting.
Can't wait to listen to all the entries! Really excited to see what's in store, GL everyone :)
Kinda surprising how the total amount of entries reached 100, tbh
VOTING INFO

Voting will be done through a Google Form, like last year. All the necessary info should be there, but I'll copy it here too:

Quote
For each entry, please give a score from 0 to 100, and you can optionally write comments and/or provide a guess for who you think made each cover/song. You can leave fields blank, and may edit your votes at any time before the voting period ends. Keep comments friendly and please avoid the use of slurs or otherwise offensive speech (there will be ZERO tolerance for this). All info for each entry should be in the same field, e.g.;

Score: x/100
Comments: comments
Author Guess: guess

You don't have to format things exactly like that, but you should try to keep the three things distinct if possible (and you don't have to include all of them). You may leave comments on your own entry, but any score will be ignored.

Each category is grouped into pages of 15 songs, to avoid having one giant page to scroll through. You can move back and forth between pages at will.

NOTE: You must submit the form to save your votes. You can come back at anytime to edit them, as long as you are using the same Google account.

The voting form is HERE, and the entries are HERE.

All entries have had their comments cleared to avoid author giveaways. Cover tags have otherwise mostly been left intact, unless any tags were missing or if there was author ID anywhere else. Originals have had all tags except the song title wiped.

The following entries are in ROM format and as such do not have tags, so their titles are listed here:
  • Cover25: Tom Jobim & Elis Regina - Inútil Paisagem
  • Cover63: Orange Island - Coral Grove
The following entries may have tags that have been corrupted or are in an unsupported encoding, so their titles are listed here:
  • Cover28: Ashinaga Oniisan - 錦鶯花吹雪
  • Orig07: スピード
Additionally, while not required, Orig19 and Orig20 are intended by the author to be listened to one after the other. They are separate entries for the sake of the contest, though. Just something to keep in mind!

There will also be exclusive trophies for any user that votes on every single entry, as well as a distinct one for any user who leaves comments [within reason; joke comments/shitposts/etc will not count] on every single entry! You need a SMW Central account by the time of results to qualify for a trophy. Note that your own entries are excluded from this, for obvious reasons.

Due to the large number of entries (107!), the deadline for voting is quite far away, but don't leave it to the last minute! Votes are due Sunday, December 5th 19th, 23:59 UTC.

With that all out of the way - have fun listening to all the entries, best of luck to all the entrants, and let the voting begin!
Additionally, if I have somehow missed your entry, or if there is an issue with the files or the voting form, please let me know immediately so I can fix it! Thanks!

ONE LAST THING I ALMOST FORGOT: While not required, Orig19 and Orig20 are intended by the author to be listened to one after the other. They are separate entries for the sake of the contest, though. Just something to keep in mind!

To clarify for now and the future: what is the verdict on sharing authorship during this period? Since voting has ended, revealing our entries wouldn't affect user's votes at all, so it couldn't cause any harm, but it's not clear as to whether it's preferred that we just not publicize them until results are out or such.

It might make sense now that voting has ended, but I think it's good to just play it safe and wait for the results to come in, even if there are 100+ songs.

Even if I don't use SMWCentral a whole lot nowadays, I don't want to risk being blacklisted from future Super Famicompos.

Actually the same question has been asked in the Discord server too and here's what sincx said:

And with that, this year's iteration of Super Famicompo is finished. I hope everyone had fun, no matter your placement, and I look forward to even more incredible work next year! Site trophies should be handed out in the near future.
Additionally, if you notice any errors in your comments, please let me know immediately. I did try to double check most things, but a large amount of the work was partially automated so there may still be minor issues (most likely just garbled Unicode or cut off sentences).

See you next year!
Really had fun with this contest! It was a pleasure to join and honestly with this being my first real SPC contest (72hoSPC was more of a trial run for me personally =P), I placed pretty okay.

Congrats to the winners and thanks for hosting this, sincx!
See yall next SFC! #smrpg{<3}

Also, damn apparently I'm JX now :)
First, thanks to everyone for the comments and suggestions. I already had an idea of what I wanted to do with the covers in this Super Famicompo, but next time I should do less covers and more compositions :P

This Super Famicompo had a vast improvement of the entries' quality, too. Well done, you guys.

Man, I need to add more panning in my future songs, but I always forget about them because I don't feel the importance in it... and even get worried about unbalanced panning. How could I separate the instruments' panning, especially in Cover01?

Lots of people told me that the mixing is messy, too. I think I understand about Cover10 (with the harp and brass stabs at least), but I'd appreciate some elaboration about how the mixing is messy in my other entries.

About Cover10:

I'm not particularly proud of how this one came out because of the quality of samples while trying to fit in the total ARAM, but I'm surprised that I got mostly positive comments, and that it overall scored higher than Cover01. A considerable amount of people commented that the harp and brass stabs are too loud, I will agree with that.

It's from the Kirby anime.

the vanilla SMW instruments sound a bit flat compared to the custom ones, so I feel like echo would've helped make them pop; as it is,

I couldn't. ARAM space ran out, even if I disabled sound effects and arpeggio code in AMKFF. In hindsight I probably could've optimized the other interval brass instruments just a bit, and that would've added more room for at least 1 echo delay, but even then I had no idea what to really optimize without worrying about sample quality.

About Cover36:

About the tropical rhythm: This takes inspiration from Romeo Knight's arrangement of the same song, which itself had a samba rhythm like that.

I used AMKFF for the PWM effect. Now, depending on the pulse sample (I used musicalman's 50% pulse samples intended for different octave ranges due to the pitch limit and quality difference), some of AMKFF's PWM sounds a little different, I found. Looking at an oscilloscope view of it, some of the modulation "cuts through" the middle of the pulse wave, while the other pulse wave completely modulates itself... Also, when the song loops after, why does the PWM wave start a little quieter when keyed on?

With panning, echo, more balanced volumes, something great could pop out of it

I don't know a good echo setting without using the surround effect, and if I apply the surround effect there, the inverted side would invert the FIR effects too, which I didn't want. So in the end I just scrapped the choice to add echo.
