its fine to question your setting, to doubt the world youre in. thats what makes you human. but youre conveniently ignoring positivity in your life, and that means youre painting a very skewed picture of your world.

as stated by katerpie, fuck what others have to say, though i'll add that some people might genuinely worry for you, and your negativity is causing you to interpret their attempts to help as a bad thing. alternatively, theyre just helping in the wrong way. in which case you have to let them know. but only once you have a clear, balanced mind. if the environment youre in doesnt allow you to create a positive balance, then its time to leave it

side note: even fake positivity can help sow true positivity
Just went to go see a movie in a theater for the second time in a year. And just like the first time, the room was EMPTY.
We could pick the best seats in the house. We didn't have to deal with loud and and annoying people or cell phone lights. We had the perfect theater experience.

Was watching Black Widow, by the way. First time was Fantastic Beasts.

I think it just depends heavily on what movies you see and when.

Personally, I tend to never watch movies on release day, I tend to wait a couple of weeks at least. That gives hihger chances of finding many empty seats. Then still, I usually reserve a ticket online. That way, I can usually just pick my seat(s) ahead of time, so I will always have good ones.

There is a few exceptions. Certain movies will only ever be shown once or twice in the cinema at special events. This includes most Anime movies. If I have any interest in seeing them, I have no choice but to accept a full hall and potentially bad seats, because that's naturally just what happens with these one-off events.

On the plus side, these special events are often filled with nothing but the most hardcore fans, which can lead to a quite funny experience.

I tend to not watch movies at all. I just have a tough time paying attention, just sitting there watching a screen, no matter what's happening. That's not to say that I don't enjoy movies at all, I have a handful of movies that I like, but without any sort of active interaction between me and whatever it is I'm watching, I just can't focus on it half the time. If I watch something with at least one other person than I can focus better at least.
It's sorta why I prefer video games as a medium of entertainment because there's a constant interaction between me and the game through the controller and whatever's happening on screen and such. Though I do also like to read which is much more passive than video games so idk.

Haha~ This reminds me of when I worked at my local cinema like 5 years ago. Rogue One came out and we had lines out the doors at every theater that was showing it opening night (which was like 4 or 5 I believe), and we saw some real super fans.
Some people dressed in full Star Wars merch, and even a few others were in cosplay. I might have seen a Chewbacca I can't remember. #tb{:p} Despite being busy and hectic as hell, it was a fun night.

pretty much the exact same way here. i practically have to be forced to watch a movie, and usually i enjoy it more if i'm at home with friends/family riffing or otherwise talking about it, since that keeps my brain a little more engaged than just sitting in front of a screen for an hour thirty or so

tv is easier to sit through but i haven't had reason to ever watch tv since we ditched cable lol
I'm pretty much the opposite. I do sometimes talk with my gf about a movie while watching it, but only in small amounts. When it gets too much, I just get annoyed, because I can't pay attention to the movie any longer and miss details. If I want to talk to my gf about something in a movie and know it takes more than a few words, I usually pause the movie beforehand, so that I don't miss anything.

I don't know, but personally, I consider reading to be quite exhausting, so to me, it doesn't feel passive at all. For this reason, I don't enjoy reading books at all.

Ironically, I don't have quite the same problems with writing, probably because it's a form of self expression, so I tend to write a lot. Though writing very long texts will still feel exhausting, which is why it'll often take me multiple days or even weeks to finally write a review on a game I played.

These days I pretty much need to be high to watch anything for any length of time. I get too fidgety and anxious otherwise so I can't sit still and just watch.

When it comes to reading, I don't do that much either. As RPG said, sometimes it feels taxing. However I've been telling myself that I need to start reading because my vocabulary sucks ass. Should open up the new WWI book I bought, but I also want to preserve the spine, haha.

The last book series I was able to actually finish was 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.' Great series, done by a Swedish author by the name of Stieg Larsson (may he RIP). Somehow it managed to capture and hold my attention for three entire novels. It's been some time since I've had that connection to a book, but it's also been awhile since I've actually sat down and tried to read a book.

For me, it's been kinda zig-zag between that and feeling exhausting. I guess it depends on what other things I'm doing at the time. I go through moods where I just wanna check out book after book from the library, then there's a book that I either finish slowly or don't feel like finishing at all and then mentally feel like "recharging" until I next feel more in the mood for reading.
Right now I'm in the middle of a series called Bravelands, which is by the Warrior Cats authors, Erin Hunter. Currently on book 5, which is titled The Spirit Eaters, which I'd sorta paused because Metroid Dread happened, and naturally working and playing Metroidvania games will cause me to finish books slower than I otherwise would.
Just the other day the YouTube algorithm showed me this video talking about a book called House of Leaves which is a weird, unconventional book where his description of it kinda reminds me of a creepypasta, so naturally I thought "What better time of year to check it out than the current month of October?"

Also I heard that Gary Paulsen, author of Hatchet, passed away today.

Just noticed my SMWC account is now 10 years old.

For last 10 years, SMW hacking and SMW music porting changed my life a lot, helped me built one of my best hobbies, and made me feel happier than ever.

I am going to keep contributing for the community in foreseen future!
Happy 10 years, tcdw! Your contributions to the community are very appreciated. You're really talented and one of my favorite porters.

My account is about to turn 10 years old in a couple days too. Seems like we decided to register in similar times :P
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
your account's not even ten years old huh #wario{-_-?}
Well, my account is about to turn 11 years old shortly #wario{o_o!}

What a trip. It seems like I've registered for the first time yesterday, as time flew by too fast and we didn't even realize.

By the way, happy decade, tcdw! Here's to 10 more years.

That's really amazing, I'm glad you enjoyed these 10 years!

It's kinda weird to think about certain things when you've been on the internet for too long, especially on a particular site. I know my YT account will turn 10 sometime later next year. I have so many memories, I changed a lot during these times, and I feel really nostalgic to think about all those days. There's something to be said about cherishing moments as much as you can, life always has ups and downs, sometimes very intense ones, but it's easy to later look back at it with some fondness, as the good memories stick out more than the bad ones (usually).

I easily feel melancholic when talking about these things, and just thinking about them, I'm gonna leave it here, otherwise I'll just keep talking about this forever, but yeah, I'm honestly glad I found this hobby and this place. I'm glad for many things in life, and this will always be special to me, the community, the hacks I played and watched and so on.

I feel particularly emotional today. lol

Cheers. tcdw. My account is technically nearly 12 years old, but I've actually spent time here for far lesser than that.

STELLA!
For me, it's been over 13 years now. On top of that, I'm also turning 30 in a little over a week. Still a little difficult to believe. There's a few things I wish I'd have achieved by now, but I'm not living in regret. I'm still overall very happy with my life.

Hmm, 13 going on 14 years here with this account... and I have at least lurked for most of it. I think the reason I didn't re-register right after the great wipe was because in the first version of SMWC someone in my household had gotten us IP banned, which redirected any attempts to connect to the site to a page that simply had the text "idiot." so I just waited a little bit to hopefully fly under the radar, and it looks like it paid off. I have to wonder how different life would be if that wipe never happened, as I have benefitted much from this site in personal growth and connections, despite never finishing a hack.
Thanks for all of your guys, I am really appreciated!

Yeah, through I am not really constant for that (for example, I may being inactive for certain period of time, but does not fully abandon this hobby), but it's maybe a miracle for my life.

Since I am not really good at English, I can't talk with people in wide range of topics 😅
