SMW Quest for Gaming - FInished!! ( BETA TESTING AVAILABLE!!)

Standard

--SMW Quest for Gaming--

Hello guys, for the ones who checked it out my last C3 thread probably know that I have been working on a new hack, at the time it was temporarily named as SMW The Great Adventure and had no story or final name defined yet.
And to be honest even that demo was a bit rushed out so it could be released on C3, thats why it had some issues and didnt even received an update until now.
But now here we are, the project finally has started to get his own identity and since there's no pressure I can finally take the time I need to polish it before the next demo which will contain 5 worlds and will be in a greatly improved state.

SMW Quest For Gaming is the name that is defined for this hack(with SMW Uma Aventura Gamer being the brazilian version name)

And the story is simple and silly but quite fun:
After rescuing the Princess so many times, Mario and Yoshi decided to take a break and play some SNES games, however the evil King Bowser has stolen their SNES along with all their favorite games and gave 1 game to each of his koopa kids.
Now Mario and Yoshi must go on an adventure and defeat the Koopa clan to get their games back, now why would Bowser do that? that will be explained during the story in the full game.

The hack will be gaming themed and with that there will be some gaming references through the dialogues, such as the koopalings talking about the game they got on the message boxes inside their castles.
And NPCs talking about their favorite games in some specific areas.
I'm also planning on making a "gaming themed " special world with the purpose being primarily based on paying a tribute to some specific games(mostly from the 8-bit and 16-bit era), with that the levels inside this world will feature lots of custom graphics to fit the theme of the game .
However this idea will be relying a bit on my GFX ripping skills, so I guess I'll have to work on learning a bit more on that.

Some Screenshots of the hack:

Title Screen:

I'm not a big fan of static title screens as they look a bit boring for me, however with the hack being themed on games I wanted at least something related to it being always displayed on the title screen and that wouldnt be possible with a scrolling title screen, so thats why this choice was made.
Also I choosed the SNES Controller to represent the theme of the hack since it is the major console focused on the story.

Random screenshots:

The screenshots above show a bit on how the hack is turning out, so far the progress is going smoothly and I have around 50% of the hack completed.
Right now, I'm working on world 5 and it is mostly done, just 2 more levels to go.

Sunshine and Spikes
Big Bridge Clash
Bouncing Heights

I also decided most of what the world themes will be, with only world 7 not being decided yet, and being honest world 8 is kinda the generic volcanic theme from most Mario games finales, so feel free to give some sugestions on themes for those two worlds:

World Themes:
1-Island - This world starts with the typical grassland level, however there's not really much of a specific theme to it.
2-Chocolate Mountain
3-Snow
4-Underground
5-Tropical Ruins/Beach
6-Haunted Forest/ Graveyards
7-???
8-Volcano/Bowser's Hideout
S- Gaming themed

The hack will have a new demo released once I finish working on World 5, it will pass through beta testing before being uploaded in the SMW hacks section of the site.
So stay tuned#tb{^^}
Meanwhile you can also enjoy the functional but a bit clunky Demo released during the 2021 C3.
It carries the previous name, but it is this same hack youre looking at right now.

Hello guys, its been some time since I last updated this thread, however dont worry the project has not been canceled, in fact it is almost finished.

During all this time I havent been able to come here at smwcentral for long due to being very busy lately, however I have been working on the game during all this time and have finished development on worlds 6,7 and 8 and I'm almost finished with the secret world 9 that I wont spoil here.

Once I finish creating all the levels I'll start the beta testing phase so the people interested can test the hack and give feedback about some problems that need to be fixed.

But for now, here's some random screenshots and videos with no particular order of the levels and stuff I have been working on:

Also some videos:
Four Seasons Maze

Also spoilers about world 9:
World 9(aka the secret special world) will feature levels with diferent art styles, each one paying an homage to some specific game or game franchise.
However I would like some feeback about one level in specific, its the only one that dont feature an art style and reuses assets from a previous level in the hack, its main gimmick however is inspired on the lost woods from the game Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time
