Last C3, I showed some screenshots from my upcoming hack (here). The project is still codenamed Epic (and that might very well be the final name lol).
Unfortunately, progress those months has been slow, mainly because of work constrains and because I want to make sure the hack will be unique and polished. However, I still have some gifs to showcase from some asm resources of the hack:

A boss has been added to that stage... the
Hot Lips king
As you can see, it has a lot of different attacks that he learns as it gets hit, and at low HP it will also move from side to side before attacking to throw the player off. Beating it will involve a certain degree of disco shell manipulation: as you can see in the gif, you have to direct the disco shell towards him with the correct timing.
Sand Hands
The Sand Hands from Wario Land 3 made it into the hack! They will come out from burning sand (lava) and a single touch will suffice to kill Mario. They use up to 4 extra bytes to control speed, frames of "rest" between up and down movements and height, among others. They will appear in a pyramid level alongside other custom sprites.
Ravens
The ravens from Paper Mario and YI also appear here. They have their own gravity: the sprite uses some extra bytes to control speed of movement, frames between jumps (and if they jumps at all) and also direction of gravity!
Final words
Although the style of the hack is not pure kaizo in the sense that there might be more than one way to overcome a setup, it will still prove a lot of skill to finish, given that there are no free powerups in the hack, so expect some sort of genre-blending here.
As I said in the last thread, I don't really had any kind of deadline for the project, but hopefully I can have this finished for the 2022 Winter C3. It will probably have around 12 stages (each with 3 sections, evolving and combining gimmicks centered around one or more sprites. I have experimented quite a lot regarding design) and 5-6 custom bosses that are hopefully fun to battle (3 are already coded).
For people interested in the sprites, all of the asm resources (except from the bosses) will hopefully be released in due time after the hack is released.
I'm also looking for some playtesters for the bosses and the levels, so if anyone is interested, send me a PM on the site or a DM in discord.
