Monty Mole



This is a monty mole from Super Mario World. Uses Super Mario Maker Graphics.

Disco Shell



A disco shell also from SMW, it chases you and you can bounce on it to your heart's content!

Exploding Platforms



Although they use Yoshi's Island graphics, they act a little differently: they'll start ticking down as soon as the player presses them.

If you didn't know, I have a github repository where I put my SMB3 things. Usually I'm too lazy to upload some stuff, but this time, all of these sprites have been submitted to my repository. You can check the repository here: link.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is cool and all, but what about Super Mario World? This site is called Super Mario World Central after all, so it won't be right to not show some things.

Yes! Moles in SMB3. What's even more amazing is the disco shell sprite. Now I can't wait to see some devilish kaizo setups with this sprite in SMB3. I think the most interesting addition is the powerdown for SMB3. Great job with this, RussianMan. #smrpg{:3}

I really liked these sprites, especially the "innovative powerup". Good work!
Really nice stuff here, as usual. What I really found cool was the disco shell. It fits in pretty well with the rest of SMB3.
Your work never ceases to impress. This set of sprites in particular is really cool to see in SMB3; at the rate you're going, we'll soon be able to have a full recreation of SMW in Mario 3!

As for the SMW bootleg stuff, that is nice as well. Unexpected, but welcome regardless.
Honestly with people like Russ and anyone who has a good knowledge of hacking/coding in general we will soon be making hacks in Bootleg SMW.
Seriously though it's pretty insane to see sprite getting ported backwards into older games and them functioning so well it's like they have been there the whole time.

I wasn't aware anyone cared this much about the SMW bootleg. #ab{^^;;;} (has there been a resurgence in interest lately?)

SMB3 custom sprites are always cool - they're at once very familiar and really strange to see. (might have said the exact same thing last c3 but it's true)


 
Interesting how you went on to the SMW NES bootleg as well. Any reason why you have coded the timed platform to be a temporal platform instead of one which you can jump off limited times?

You never fail to amaze, Russ! These sprites all look so interesting! I think what I always love about your sprite showcases is that they all feel somehow authentic to their respective games, and I feel like that's such a nice accomplishment alongside the feat of actually programming these in. I think the bootleg SMW poison mushroom is honestly my favourite, probably because of how much I did not expect to see a custom sprite for that game, haha.

Can't wait to have all the assets for a NES SMB3 World-e.

Ayyy finally the true Super Mario World is getting some deserved recognition here. Jokes aside, well done recreating these stuff in SMB3. I don't know that much about the SMB3 hacking scene, but the sprites are all looking fresh, specially the art style which is pretty faithful to the original game. Nice job!
