What do you think about Windows 11 leaks? (Windows 11 was finally revealed)

I've been seeing Windows 11 leaks and videos talking about the leaks.

A day or so ago I've gotten my hands on a copy... (I DO NOT suggest you go looking for these. It is not a good idea, at all. I'm doing it just to look around at it.)

And I've gotten curious, what do you guys think about Windows 11? Anything at all about it works.

(Also I think am the first to have Lunar Magic ran on Windows 11)
Not in a big of a hurry to know what it's like at all cause I don't really care what system I'm running as long as it's functional.

I think it looks okay. Doesn't look that different from 10 aside from the position of things.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

Yeah. I'm sticking with Windows 10. It's just what I'm really used to.

Also yeah. You can put the icons back to the side if you activated Windows.

My thoughts as well. It really doesn't look too different from windows 10 from what I have seen so far.

To the mods: I think this should be in the Computers & Technology subforum 'cause this thread is about the upcoming version of the most popular operating system. I'm not sure if this will help...
Saw this on the Touhou Project Discord server a few days back when people tried out the upcoming version of Windows and people seemed to bother about the issues in installing the test build (i.e., requiring TPM 2.0 to install).

Me too. Unless there's a forced change or something, but I'm satisfied with whatever I'm using now.

To be honest, I don't really see a difference at all. Not on a first glance, anyway; if you told me that this was a screenshot of Windows 10, I don't think I ever would have questioned you or noticed anything unusual.

Does it run decently enough, and are there any significant improvements? I don't have any real reason to stick with the older version if the new one's good, regardless of whether or not I'm "used to it".

(Also, Klug is technically right about the forums, so moved.)

E: For those curious, here is a video going into more detail on what's actually different (thanks Mr Scotsman for sharing this with me <3). So far, I like what I'm seeing.

Windows 11 runs… nearly like Windows 10 but with a few updated icons, MS Paint was added back to the menu, I don’t know what that has to do with anything, but that’s something.

But, it’s still just a leak. So a lot might change about Windows 11 when they officially announce it.

Also, oops… Wrong forum lmao.
If the main new features they're touting are purely aesthetic and they cannot come up with an answer to the question "how is it objectively better than Windows 10?" then there is no reason for it to exist.

Well, we don't know much about it until Microsoft says something about it.
Well, well, well, friends. Windows 11 has been finally revealed, and there's a lot of new features to try it out for you (but you might check your PC's settings first!). Here's the list:
  • A redesigned Start Menu. This one here is much more simple than the one used in Windows 8 and 10. Also: RIP, Live Tiles.
  • You can manage windows easily thanks to Snap Layouts. It makes decision making much easier than ever before!
  • Say hello to Windows Widgets! A far cry to Gadgets used in Windows Vista and 7, this mini-tools can personalize your PC for a different look. Built-in Widgets include News & Interests, Windows Weather and Windows Maps. As a bonus, it also includes one that lets you tip local creators from within Windows 11.
  • Touch gestures, another big game-changer for Windows 11, improve the functionality for tablets and touchscreens: Instead of switching to Tablet Mode, the OS simply adapts to allow you to touch everything on-screen.
(Does this mean we can play Senran Kagura on Windows 11? Sign us up!)
Other improvements include support for haptic feedback and improvements to inking and voice typing.
  • Windows 11 is specially designed for gaming! Combined with the powers of Xbox Game Pass, you can play games in blazing fast speeds and clearer graphics, thanks to the new feature from Xbox Series X/S—DirectSorage! (Note that DirectStorage may require the latest NVMe drives to speed up game load times on Windows 11, and game developers will need to enable this technology to boost load times further.) And oh, you can also stream games via xCloud (included in the Xbox App!), too.
  • It runs Android apps. With greater help from Amazon and Intel, Microsoft is giving Windows 11 the true ultimate power to make this one a reality thanks to the powers of Intel Bridge technology. This beats BlueStacks' sissy butts and send them to the giant flaming dumpster! (But please, don't take them literally.)

And without further ado, here are the minimum system requirements for this upcoming operating system:
  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
  • RAM: 4 gigabyte (GB)
  • Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device
  • System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
  • TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
  • Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
  • Display: High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9-inches diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
  • Internet connection and Microsoft accounts: Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use. Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity. For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates and to download and take advantage of some features. A Microsoft account is required for some features.

What do you think?

Most of these things I don't care about very much. DirectStorage support definitely sounds nice, although I thought they were planning to bring this to DirectX in general, not just Windows 11. Probably the biggest thing for me is running Android apps, assuming it means I'll finally be able to use a lot of internet-only apps (such as WhatsApp) from a wired connection.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!

Respect for typing that out for those that didn't watch the video. I just skipped around the video to get the real meat. So uhh...... Sounds cool. Might use it on a virtual machine. But I am not getting rid of good ol' Windows 10.

Pretty much this, but I don't care about most of these things because I don't know what they are. I'm curious to see if Microsoft is still concerned with shoving Edge down everyone's throat, perhaps with this new operating system, if that topic has any relevance to the discussion at all. (It probably doesn't since I don't know much about this kind of stuff at all.)
It doesn't seem like a substantial change, but sure, might as well get used to it. I'm not too attached to Windows 10 in particular so I guess I'll switch to it when it's out, or at least get it with the next computer I buy.

It looks like they're updating and unifying the graphical design, which is all I really care about (or rather, am curious to see).

Just a few new things, nothing special. What I hate about new programs and Windows versions these days is simplicity in design and their logos.
It looks like we're going back to 1990 instead of 2030.

Just look at this:

Now Windows 11 logo:

Very disappointing imo.

Same with Firefox btw (just an example):
I remember reading something about Windows 10 and how it was supposed to be the last version of Windows. Guess that information was either wrong or Microsoft has changed their mind. Either way, I'll probably pass Windows 11 as my primary system and instead switch to a Linux distribution (could be OpenSUSE like my laptop or a different distribution) when Windows 10 get discontinued and try to use Wine for Windows-exclusive games.
@Ice Man: Yeah, the new logo design looks more simplistic than the one used in Windows 8/10. Also, they pull the plug on "Windows 10X". #w{xD}

Like I said in this thread, it seems that Windows 10 is about to end in four years or less, so people might need to switch to the latest version when it's released. Also, the devs at Wine would have a hard time to make Windows 11 apps work on other Linux distros!

It's UPDATE time! The first Windows 11 Insider build is now available to try, but first, you might need to check your PC's system requirements! As a bonus, they finally updated the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11. (But there's still hope for Intel 7th Gen Kaby Lake and Zen 1 users...)

As we release to Windows Insiders and partner with our OEMs, we will test to identify devices running on Intel 7th generation and AMD Zen 1 that may meet our principles. We’re committed to sharing updates with you on the results of our testing over time, as well as sharing additional technical blogs.

Later on, rumors are swirling that Windows 11 may be released on October 20th, according to these new images showed by Microsoft. Does this mean we can wait for next few months to get Windows 11? Only time will tell...

I never really understood the complaints about "simplistic" logos, personally. Like yeah, I guess the art's no longer as complex as it once was, but simplicity is just what's becoming increasingly popular nowadays. I don't think it's necessarily worse, it's just a different style. Especially considering the fact that even the "newer" versions of these logos are still recognizable enough for what they are.

I also think that the newer versions of the Firefox logo look much more like a "fire" fox than the older versions did.
