I couldn't help but reveal the visuals of a special world level on Discord the other day so I might as well post it here too (but, point somewhat taken, in spoiler tags):

Late, but those clouds look look like they were done on the PS1. I can't wait till this is done.

This hack looks amazing! I don't usually look forward to rom hacks, but this one is really cool! I really love the visuals!

Keep your spirits high, and your noodle sweaty!
Just stopping by to note that as of now, APFAS is feature-complete! I implemented all the ASM that remained, and I got the credits done this weekend which means the game is fully playable form start to finish. All that remains is bugfixes, polish, a bit of music, and porting to SA-1, which will all be a thorough but hopefully not too lengthy process.

I could now keep updating this thread again without spoiling anything about the postgame, because right now I'm going back to the beginning and doing a second pass on graphics, palettes and level design. Turns out when the hack's earliest levels date back to nine years ago they benefit from an overhaul after all!

What I did today was touching up level 1-1, tweaking the background gradient and several parts of the palette to make it look brighter and more vibrant. (Back when I made the spring world I might have had a tendency do make things too dark, which isn't the best fit for spring.) The changes are subtle but I think they make for a much better first impression. I wanted to revamp the clouds as well but I realized a few hours in that it was too much of a timesink, which I can't afford. #ab{^^;;;}

It's coming along!

Can't believe you're currently finishing your hack on a daily basis! Did you have the complete powers of ASM and ExGFX? Let me see the powers you got and I thought you're not working on a very slow pace!

With all being said, keep up the good work! Can't wait for the full release sometime this C3.

The real hack of the summer of C3.

I'm looking forward to it soon. Please let me know how many exits there are.#w{:>}
I love you! I'm a girl.

As it snows, the atmosphere is very unstable and lightning keeps hitting me. ㅠㅠ

I like the cartoon character of the girl the most.

This place will update photos every month.
Figured I should keep this up to date!

A Plumber For All Seasons is now essentially complete - all the levels, graphics and features are in place, there have been a few beta testing rounds, and all the addressable bugs are addressed.

What's left now is to port everything over to SA-1 - that should fix the slowdown issues, probably take care of some of the more minor and/or obscure bugs, and hopefully go somewhat smoothly without wreaking havoc on the ROM. (oh boy oh boy fingers crossed)

The way things are now, I'm fairly confident I can meet the C3 deadline! It'll definitely be about time.

In case any music people are reading this, there are still a handful of songs to be composed for the soundtrack! If you have time and inspiration this month, please get in touch. #tb{:)}

There are 37 levels and 41 exits.

I'm sure countless others have told you this before, but this hack looks truly fantastic and I can tell just how passionate you have been about this project. It is awesome to see this essentially complete. I'm excited for the release.

i don't think i've ever seen a stronger argument for replacing mario's vanilla graphics. the background work is phenomenal, but i feel like mario having his normal palette breaks the cohesion a bit too much

Have I got news for you!

And these aren't the only player graphics replacements either, but you'll have to play the hack to find out what else is there. #tb{:)}

What's with the cap? It looks a bit weird.

Maybe you're using DKCR's Sunset Shore level as a base where Donkey Kong's tie and Diddy Kong's cap aren't a silhoutte, but that doesn't quite fit here. With some modifications it can be made to look good.

YY-CHR > Photoshop.
Sorry, I'm not about to make "some modifications" any more. #tb{''} Something needs to be in color because you have to be able tell the powerup status, and having it be the cap looks far less weird than the overalls would.

i think having mario's hat visible is just fine! looks a lot better now that mario matches the rest of the level #smrpg{gdi}

Just watched the Plumber Trailers on YT again (don't know how many times in sum) and realized that July isn't far away #w{<3}
It's very rarely that I'm hyped and looking forward to game releases but man I'm really hyped after watching these trailers #w{<3}

Perhaps unpopular opinion but I think that the (mostly) vanilla Mario visuals fit very well to the game but apparently we get suprised with some special plumber suits #w{=P}

I heard that SA-1 ROMS arent't working on some custom consoles. Does anyone know if the SNES Mini is able to handle these? I really hope so because I want to play this gem on a comfy couch #w{xD}
I'm glad you're looking forward to it! I hope it'll live up to the hype. #tb{:)}

There will be beta testing going on for as many consoles and emulators as possible, and the SNES classic will also be covered assuming there's time. For now I'm still working on the SA-1 conversion of everything, which is going more or less smoothly but also making the deadline really tight. Fingers crossed!

The only thing I'm hyped for this year
Might as well give another progress update: after a couple of days spent doing other things I have a bit of time to get this hack wrapped up. There's only one minor bug I'm aware of (I hope) that's left to be fixed, a couple of missing music tracks to insert, and of course final testing to be done, as extensive as the deadline allows.

Other than that, A Plumber For All Seasons is now in a releasable state. Which is something that still hasn't registered.

A C3 release is looking pretty doable!

Alright cool, I've been following this hack for a while now and wow it looks like your nearing the finish line.

Also have we done a C3 this summer yet here at smwcentral? When will the summer C3 happen?
The site has hosted a C3 in the summer for multiple years; Summer C3 this year will take place in early July. I believe the event starts on July 2nd, to be exact.
I've been watching this thread since its inception, and, as an onlooker, to see a hack of this quality reaching completion is pretty surreal. Amazing job as always WYE, I look forward to playing!
July 2021 … fingers still crossed #w{=3}
