I also found that the length of the song "Natural Killer Cyborg" was wrong, the length of Maxodex is 2:37 and 2:17
and Dominator is 2:44
And also the music versions were 10 or 9 years ago, I really want this

On SMWDB's page of the hack you can download it in both .bps and .ips formats. Just choose .bps which is what you want.

I have a very basic question about what is and isn't possible with ROM hacks. Apologies if this isn't the correct place for it.

I was interested in whether you could do three things
1) introduce novel power-ups - for example could you create a "boo" power up that allowed you to possess enemies (similar to the mechanic of avenging spirit)?
2) introduce mini-games based on existing games- for example, like the pairs game in Mario brothers 3, would it be possible to have an area where you play a mini game that is just like a level in bomberman/wario blast?
3) change the way a player controls- for example, suppose you wanted to introduce wario as a playable character and wanted to allow him to control as he does in wario land (e.g. Charging enemies)?

I suppose I'd be really interested to know
Is this possible?
If it is possible, is it realistic- how long would it be likely to take?
Are there other approaches that would be better suited to making that type of game?

Are they possible? Absolutely. Are they easy? Depends. You can pretty much do anything you want (within the scope of the SNES's processing power) via ASM. But, of course, the more complicated a thing you want, the more code you'll need to put into it.

In your cases, some similar resources already exist:
1) lx5's custom powerups provide a framework for coding new powerups, along with a variety of pre-built ones. Adding new ones is doable, but for something like possessing enemies you'd need quite a bit of extra code to handle different kids of sprites.
2) SMWC actually had an ASM contest a while back where one of the challenges was creating new minigames, which you can find demos of in this playlist (resources in this post). For other ideas though you'd either have to code them yourself, or make them using existing resources on the site from the blocks/sprites/patches/uberasm sections.
3) Wario's dash attack is actually available from this patch, though it's coded to give that ability to Mario rather than a secondary character. You'd have to edit the ASM to handle that.

As is probably clear, I am very new to this. I wondered if you felt ASM hacking was the best approach, or if there were game engines that would allow someone to achieve the same kind of results.
So, I have a minor issue. There's a song used in SMWCP that I want to use. The SMWCP music list says they're all available on the site. However, when I try to search for the music used in Wieza Niebo, "Super Marisa World - World 5/Hakugyokurou", nothing comes up. Was it removed?

two part question for level editor. I am trying to make slopes.
1. is there a way to flip objects on the x, or y axis?
2.object 3a in level 105 has an extra graphic in the corner. is there any way to get rid of that?
