Mad Scientist - ASM Contest [Final Results]

ASMResults

Hey hey hey, I will ask for feedback, I have already planned that but we'll do that after we have revealed the winner, okay?
Thank you for voting,

and this round's winner is...
Darolac
with the entry of Custom and score of 60 points!

ParticipantEntryScore
DarolacCustom60
KevinMDitto55
NerDoseOverused47

This round surely shows how much a difference modifications can make to bosses and each in different ways: Darolac for customisations, KevinK for an interesting twist and NerDose for giving a new spin (\o/) to an overused boss. I won't force you but I surely hope you'll release your modifications at some point.

I'll reveal the winners and open up a feedback thread in an hour, please be a bit patient.

Mad Scientist ASM Contest - Final Results

Since four years. As such, it's a good idea to have a feedback to improve on (possibly) later ASM contests.

On place three, we have got:
NerDose
with a score of 1,163 points

On place two, the silver coder is
anonimzwx
with a score of 1,956 points

And the grand winner of Mad Scientist is...
Darolac
with a score of 3,983 points

The score may be low but remember that they're scaled logarithmically. I used the following formula: ln(n) / p where n are the total entries and p the entry's placement in that round. Using that, we'll get the following placements:
ParticipantTotal Score
1stDarolac3,983
2ndanonimzwx1,956
3rdNerDose1,163
4thEternityLarva1,096
5thKoopster1,04
6thRuberjig0,619
7thKevinM0,549
8thVon Fahrenheit0,52
9thUltiMario0,416

You will all receive a trophy for participating except the top three who receive a dedicated bronze, silver and gold trophy, respectively and can pick a list from our

You can also write a feedback here if you have any.

I have a discord server, feel free to join if you want
I feel bad taking third place just for participating in all three rounds, I'm uploading an improved version of boost and dual soon.
Regarding the boss I'm too busy to improve it :( but I'll gladly hear all of your feedback!
I suck at ASM and AMK
Congratulations to Darolac and Nerdose for 1st and 3rd place. This was a funny contest, i hope participate the next time, i dont know if i will have enough time.

I will release my "Eel" (Unagi) entry and some sprites that i made for third round but i didnt have enough time to finish them, (Metah Slug's grenades, molotovs, mine and explosions) the next C3, I won't release "Beam" (Hotario) because It is patreon only.

All my resources were made using Dynamic Z, (in the case of hotario, it uses dynamic palette change to make darker/more blue/more red the FG and BG and to change windowing color, others sprites uses dynamic sprite system) It will be released also the next C3, i hope finish all features before C3, if not then i'll release it, but i will do some updates later.

I hope that after my release staff helps me with a remoderation of Dynamic Sprites, because my patch won't be compatible with any of them and port them to Dynamic Z will be very good for the community, more dynamic sprites in screen, less slowdown, more flexibility for enemies ,a lot of extra features, bigger dynamic sprites, a tool to insert dynamic resources on the rom and a tool to autorip spritesheets for Dynamic sprites.

I agree with anon. I'd really like to see dynamic sprites be easier to use for the community, and Dynamic Z is a really powerful tool.
Congratulations to the winners, who clearly put a lot of effort into their resources, but also to anyone who participated and made the contest turn out well. I would've liked to participate in every round but I didn't have much motivation for the first one (although I had a couple cool ideas) and I didn't have any idea for the second. For the boss I just wanted to make something silly, so I made something inspired by JUMP's House of the Holey's secret exit boss, and had a lot of fun doing that (I didn't have too much time to polish it so it's a bit clunky to play but whatever).
This contest was for sure a bit experimental, coming after a long hiatus and failure of the first contest, but it turned out fine I think. And thanks to MarioFanGamer for hosting it!
I would like to congratulate you for Darolac, anonimzwx and NerDose! #smrpg{y}

I only had time to participate in the first round before real life drained me back, but it was really fun to be part of it. Thanks for taking on this contest MFG, and good job to all winners and participants!
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
