You'll remember last year we implemented a "pronuns" field into the post side bar, to allow other users to express their identity and to make it easier for other users to know how to refer to yourself. Since this has been implemented, we've been fairly strict on its usage. We took this route to as misuse of the field may be interpreted as a jab or mockery towards gender minorities. You may have noticed that we outlined all of this in the (now previous) rule B5.
Unfortunately, due to the misuse the field has received, we have taken the decision to turn the free text field into a multiple selection box with prefilled values. You can now select as your pronouns:
• -------- (default, i.e. empty, will not show Pronouns information at all)
• He/Him/His
• She/Her/Her
• They/Them/Their
• Any
You can select multiple values, if you wish to identify as more than one.
Current pronoun field values have been reset, so if you used them you'll need to select a new multichoice option.
We are fully aware that some may prefer to identify with something alternate. However, this list is what we have worked to up to this point when enforcing the (again, now previous) rule B5 on pronouns. There's been no other legitimate use of the field other than the above list as of right now.
If you do have a legitimate, serious request for a set of pronouns to be added into the field, that you intend to use yourself - we will happily hear you out, of course! Please forward requests to a forum moderator or an administrator.
Rule B5 has now been removed, and all consequent rules have been shifted down a number. This has been noted in the Site Rules Changelog thread.
