Kero Kero Bonito - The River
Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line
>tfw Set B was posted while I was listening to Set A
Guess that's what happens when you forget about contests like this, huh? For what it's worth, I probably would've voted for Knights of Cydonia and Vichnaya Pamyat.
Luckily I'm in time for this week, so let's see...

1. Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line: Super chill song, this is the kind of thing I'd listen to on long car rides.
2. Kero Kero Bonito - The River: This song is very unique and has a ton of variety. I found it fascinating to listen to.
---------------
3. Porcupine Tree - Lazarus: Nice and laid back, but not quite as vibe-y as the Zero 7 song.
4. Seal - Kiss From A Rose: This is a nice song, I like this one.
5. NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me: I really like the music and the lyrics, and the vocals are so bad that they're actually hilarious. This was a fun song to listen to : P
6. Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural: Not a bad song by any means, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to listen to.
7. 4-Mat - Lunawaves At Sunset: Alright song, but it takes too long to get going.
8. Anamanaguchi - Air On Line: Kinda boring.
Check out my WIP romhack!
Suburban supernatural
I wished the money changed me
Seal - Kiss From A Rose // this song is one of my personal classics. I was shocked to find out it was made for some Batman movie though lmao.
Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line // love the vocals here! Edit: just found out Sia is leading vocals in this album, so that's no wonder I loved it. Thanks for the discovery, Counterfeit.

4) Kero Kero Bonito - The River

Seal - Kiss From A Rose
Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line (gonna have to look into this band 👀)

if it was a little less sterile in the production I might've liked Porcupine Tree more. Sounds like they were trying to be discount Bends-era Radiohead. shout out to KKB
ask me if i give a f*ck...
Kero Kero Bonito - The River - If it were possible to paint with audio, this song would be the one to do it. It's unbelievably visual with its atmospherics. I forgot I'm not in a lush water temple before a final judgment and the room is not actually mana-blue. What an adventure. I had to replay this several times: I get completely lost in it.

Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line - everyone's taken everything they can . . . nothing is real . . . do you believe?

/////////////// LAVA LINE - DO NOT BURN ///////////////

Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural - Oh god, this is like a certain C's Winter-chan and Shin Megami Tensei 3's world map themes thrown into a blender. I love everything about it. This is something I'd put on my MP3 player. I'm putting a vote for this one forth if I can't vote for my own submission.

Seal - Kiss From A Rose - This song gets stuck in my head for YEARS when I hear it. It remains MY POWER MY PLEASURE MY PAIN. I still hear "addiction that" as "a dictionary" but enough of that. It's a classic, gentle romantic song that doesn't have to be lewd to sell. It's beautiful.

4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset - This reminds me of the vaporwave artists I listen to, oddly enough also reminds me of Baywatch in parts lmfao. Not a bad chiptune. The progression appears to be kinda weird, in that it seems like it's got three peaks and trophs. It almost seems like it should be half its length, or split into parts like Shine On You Crazy Diamond. (Now imagine if someone nominated that or Echoes, eh?)

NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me - I ...can't stop laughing. This song is hilarious... but it also has a touch of sincerity, so I don't know if I should feel bad for laughing or if it was the intent for it to be funny-haha and funny-sad at the same time. The production is minimal yet full-sounding, the auto-tune makes it sillier, but I'd slap the Stupid A$s who blares this while I'm sleeping down my quiet side street. -.-;; I'd listen to this ironically. It's not my taste at all for casual listening.

Anamanaguchi - Air On Line - This is a perfect example of today's "War of Loudness" - the production is rife with sample clipping. It is a pretty fun song despite that, with touches of Sega Genesis, NES, Malon singing, high quality synths, and Vocaloid style here, and jumping between a booming calm and crazy energy. I feel like I took video game acid listening to this. I could never casually listen to this.

Porcupine Tree - Lazarus - Beautiful instrumentals, lyrics, and vocal melody, but I just don't like the voice of the singer at all. It's like, the same voice that sings in 200 bands and sounds so hollow and brittle, like there's no heart and a lot of strange-colored air from a tank in it. (No disrespect intended to the person who nominated the song - it definitely has other great qualities.)

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Set B, for the bees.

1. Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural
2. Kero Kero Bonito - The River

Didn't mention this last set but I'm already struggling to choose between certain songs so far. I've noticed that lately my taste in music has opened quite a bit, though for this tourney it's more like Pandora's Box was what opened!
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
1. Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural
2. Kero Kero Bonito - The River

3. Anamanaguchi - Air On Line
4. Seal - Kiss From A Rose
5. Porcupine Tree - Lazarus
6. Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line
7. NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me
8. 4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset

List Soundtrack - List Hacks

Mega Man X3 OSTs
1. Kero Kero Bonito - The River: Whoa. Pretty chill and upbeat song I'd have a casual listen to.
2. Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line: Yes. Beautiful vocals, too.

3. Anamanaguchi - Air On Line: Yes. This one builds up gradually.
4. Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural: Why does it remind me of the times I've played on a NES, lmfao. Overall, nice song, but kind of weird at times?
5. 4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset: Something to rock to. Last few minutes give me Jazz Jackrabbit vibes
6. Porcupine Tree - Lazarus: This is a gentle and calm song. Doesn't suit my style too much, but that's alright.
7. Seal - Kiss From A Rose: It's classic. (Shoutouts to the comments in the sense I didn't know it played on a Batman movie, lol.)
8. NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me: Eh. Not exactly the sort of song I'd listen to casually, what with the super inviting track title. There are other, way better songs from this style, though.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
Kero Kero Bonito - The River (holy fuck this is good shit lmao, loving the feel this one has a lot, along with the sound design and SYNTH SOLOS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (also the synths in general, they have a nice sound to it); never actually bothered to listen to their stuff on my own even if I knew them for a while, but now I'm kind of sad I haven't :V)

Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural (this is also pretty cool, tho I wouldn't exactly say this is my favorite FoD song either; still has his style and the sound I like about him tho, and that's all that matters :P)

Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line (this one is pretty cool, and was actually thinking of getting it in before I listened to that KKB song, but sadly it wasn't good enough in the end; definitely feel like I could vibe to it after a few more listens tho)

4mat - Lunawaves at Sunset (pretty cool, but takes way too long to build up and feels kind of like a slog lol)

Porcupine Tree - Lazarus (not bad; would not actually mind listening to this on the radio sometimes :V)

Anamanaguchi - Air on Line (meh. cool fakebit I guess; definitely not my favorite from them, but admittedly I have seen very little from them, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Seal - Kiss from a Rose (oh god this song LMAO; I'm so damn tired of listening to this on the radio, but it's not a bad song, just really, really burned out from it)

NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me (meh, just shitty ass rap and shitty autotuned vocals I guess; not bad, but I have seen better from the genre :V)
Layout by Mathos
1) Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural (slow start but still ended up great)
2) Kero Kero Bonito - The River (nice, only thing im not big on is the vocals)

3) Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line (not really my thing but it's chill)
4) Porcupine Tree - Lazarus (pretty alright)
5) Seal - Kiss From A Rose (pretty alright)
6) NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me (lol, but ok)
7) 4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset (somewhat repetitive but ok)
8) Anamanaguchi - Air On Line (eh)
Porcupine Tree - Lazarus
Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line

The first of many rounds where I don't recognize any of the artists!
Not a huge fan of any of these but here we go:

1. Kero Kero Bonito - The River : Not bad at all, but not a favorite.
2. Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural : Nice.

3.Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line : A real change of pace from some of the other songs in this set.
4.Porcupine Tree - Lazarus : Not bad.
5. 4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset : If this was shorter, I'd like it more. As it is, it drags and gets boring.
6. Seal - Kiss From A Rose : It's alright. Not a favorite tho
7. Anamanaguchi - Air On Line : There are some nice pieces and ideas, but the way they were brought together is not appealing to me.
8. NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me : Autotune is gross, also wasn't a fan of like any of this.

Low-energy voting from me today, but wow I'm in love with my #1 for this round. I do remember someone in my family recommending Zero 7 a while ago; I can see why.

Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line
Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural

Kero Kero Bonito - The River (I dislike the vocals quite a lot — they truly worked in the gimmick of Flamingo — but the production is stellar.)
Seal - Kiss From a Rose (Never thought I'd see the day I'd put this so high.)
Porcupine Tree - Lazarus
4-Mat - Lunawaves At Sunset (I had such high hopes...)
Anamanaguchi - Air On Line
NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me
Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line
Seal - Kiss From A Rose
Top Picks:
1) Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural: where was all this good chiptune all my online life.
2) Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line: thought-provoking song with a dreamy atmosphere.

Other Songs:
-Anamanaguchi - Air On Line: great ear candy.
-Kero Kero Bonito - The River: I like the song, but I think the vocals drag it down for me. Not the lyrics, just the performance.
-4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset: nice bassy, industrial sounding chiptune. Starts slow and tense but gradually speeds up over time.
-Porcupine Tree - Lazarus: got that 2000s contemporary pop feel, but in a good way. Love the guitar.
-Seal - Kiss From A Rose: classic. I guess my only complaint is that the lyrics can be nonsensical at times.
-NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me: not my favorite kind of rap.
SET B RESULTS:
Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line (12)
Fearofdark - Suburban Supernatural (11)

Kero Kero Bonito - The River (10)
Seal - Kiss From A Rose (3)
NBA Stupid A$s - I Wish the Money Changed Me (1)
Porcupine Tree - Lazarus (1)
4mat - Lunawaves At Sunset (0)
Anamanaguchi - Air On Line (0)

While normally I would request someone break the tie, because I am running low for the number of tracks I need to set up the bracket (26 instead of 32), I will include any 2nd place (or possibly 1st place) ties as winners. Since it was such a blowout for these three tracks anyway I honestly feel better doing it that way. If I end up having extra tracks by the end....well we'll figure it out when we get there. Miscount, there's no longer a tie. #wario{O_o}

Preliminary Round - Set C

Amon Tobin - Nova
That Poppy - Altar
MONDO GROSSO - False Sympathy
Three Dog Night - Never Been to Spain
Rascal Flatts - Life Is A Highway
Asterisk* - Adding Milk To DNA
Jordan Rudess - Drop Twist
The Pillows - Funny Bunny

Amon Tobin - Nova (kinda sounds like lobby music but i dig it)
The Pillows - Funny Bunny (obviously cant understand any of the lyrics, but its still better than the other rock songs this round)

(Jordan Rudess gets the Human Music award of the day)
The Pillows - Funny Bunny
Asterisk* - Adding Milk To DNA

I actually liked that asterisk song. Don't usually like that kind of music but in a 40 second burst it works for me. MONDO GROSSO got really cool at the 4 minute mark but it wasn't worth the time it took to get to that point. amon tobin is cool but eh
ask me if i give a f*ck...
Amon Tobin - Nova : Very laid back and relaxing.
Rascal Flatts - Life Is A Highway : YES lol. kachow

Three Dog Night - Never Been to Spain : Nice. Never did listen to much Three Dog Night but I did play Hoyt Axton's Joy to the World for Pep Band of all things
Jordan Rudess - Drop Twist : Not too bad.
The Pillows - Funny Bunny : It's alright
That Poppy - Altar : Not a fan of this one. The instrumental part is fine, but the vocals are not pleasant to me.
MONDO GROSSO - False Sympathy
Asterisk* - Adding Milk To DNA : Lol.
