I got the first Dragon Orb in Popolocrois (just get it at the bottom of the Godrif Mines and bring it to the Fairy of the Spring in the Flornel Forest) but the second one is kicking my ass (you have to beat an optional boss, the Ukky King and he's a huge fucker) and I'm like. Wondering if this is worth it because he's just so absurd and the battle feels like it relies on RNG. Nevermind I beat it.

Advice: Level up Narcia and Pietro until they have Wind Blaze and Heat Blaze respectively (Defense up and Attack up from what I can tell), cast em on White Knight and have him just go at Ukky King with Jump Slashes (Jump-giri), keeping his Guts up with Kiais. All the while, Narcia clears the Ukky Lords and Ukkies with Holy Burst, whilst staying away from enemy damage using Mist Screen. Pietro can provide backup with Heal Water (for HP), Cure Water (for the status effects) and Saint Arc (for damage dealing), alongside Narcia's Heal Rain. If necessary, use Healing Branches (Iyashi no Eda) (or better if you have enough of said healing items) and Dragon Tears (Ryuu no Namida) to keep everyone alive.

Just in case anyone who's playing it happens to run into the same issue.

Made a lot of progress in Saints Row the past few days, finished up the Westside Rollerz and Vice Kings mission chains, so I just have the Carnales missions to do other than the first one. Then there's the epilogue. I have had a semi-enjoyable time with this game but I still think it'd be better to just watch the story cutscenes on YouTube/watch a playthrough. It is nice seeing some holes in future games filled in though, even if Saints Row 3 refused to acknowledge the previous games in any meaningful manner.

I'm at the point in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles where I could theoretically go finish the game. I gave it a shot earlier today and after spending maybe 1.5 hours on the stupid
Meteor Parasite,
and running out of Phoenix Downs right at the very end I decided I should go and gather some artifacts to raise my stats. The boss itself feels like it was designed for multiplayer but since my brother and I only own one GBA and link cable, we kinda can't do multiplayer even if we wanted to. And acquiring one more of each is rather expensive! I think improving my stats will make this fight more palatable, but also now I know how the fight goes so I'd waste less time (and Phoenix Downs) on me trying to figure out strategies.

Played quite a bit of Popolocrois Monogatari over the past few hours. Got the third Dragon Orb in the Monster Village after a few attempts. The Golem was the final enemy. Then I went to the House at the Cape to get the Dragon Saber (a special attack, couldn't use it because it missed lol), went through the Neo Gami Gami Devil Castle (or Mini Devil Castle as the map calls it), then the Ghost Ship and now I've gone from a small detour in the Castaway Village to reach Bryonia. Sabor is cute, but so is Postof tbh

Just finished a coop playthrough of Duke Nukem 3D. It's still a great game, with nice breezy level design and fun worlds to roam around in.
Started a run of the PC version of Trials of Mana. My party is Riesz/Charlotte/Angela and I've gotten to Wendel as of this writing. The game runs like ass on my PC (weaker graphics card) but I don't care. This is the first time I've
pirated
a game out of fear of becoming broke again and I'm just feeling liberated. Capitalism is shit and I hate being poor. My family basically lives paycheck to paycheck and it sucks so bad.

If I could, I would have purchased it, trust me. I might end up doing so just so I can have it on the cloud and so I can install it whenever instead of having to have the game or .iso on my PC hogging up space.

EDIT: Beat Full Metal Hugger!

Been breezing through Final Fantasy II US. The English in it is not all that good! It's been a bit difficult to understand at time, but usually the meaning comes through the awkward dialogue. Also, I struggled at times with the PSP version, is Easy Type/FF2US really just that much easier? Or was just playing bad. I wonder.
In any event, changing the names made the game a little more enjoyable. I don't like FF4 all that much.

Just got started with Tales of Symphonia. It's my first time ever playing a Tales game. The battle system took some time to get the hang of seeing as I'm more used to turn-based RPGs. I know this is not the first in the series but this was the earliest one available on PC.
I'm now around 16 hours in and I'm loving this game. I only wish it would run at 60 FPS but that's just a minor nitpick.
The 30 FPS thing is actually really aggravating, considering the GameCube version ran in 60 FPS almost everywhere (only the world map ran in 30). Another thing that immediately felt wrong to me about the PC version was that it doesn't support analog movement, even when playing with a controller. Again, the GameCube version did. Both of these might ultimately be just minor things, but considering the game ran better on an old console from 2001, they irritated me enough to go get a refund immediately after purchasing it. I went on to play the GameCube version in Dolphin instead. I do actually own the original game on GameCube, so I didn't feel particularly guilty about it.

Allegdly, the reason for some of those downgrades is that the PC port is based on the PS2 version. I assume since the GameCube didn't end up being a very popular console, the game was ported to the PS2 to reach a wider audience, and since the PS2 was slightly less powerful than the GameCube, they probably downgraded it to 30 FPS. However, this doesn't quite explain why 60 FPS (or a variable refresh rate) wasn't added back into for the PC version. I'm assuming they simply wanted to make the port as cheap and quick as possible, which is disappointing. I would love to have a version of the game available on a more convenient platform, but I'm just too dissatisfied with what the PC port offers.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
I have completed a number of hacks on the shorter side in recent days.

I completed Quickie World 2 quite fast, and it was better (although easier) than the first Quickie World. I really liked the fluent design of the levels, and most of them were memorable.

I took a quick few minutes to play the creepypasta hack I HATE YOU, which was as good as the creepypasta itself would let it. The boss was fun, but other than that the hack was a bit on the dull side.

I then also played Jigsaw's Test, a very short puzzle hack. It was fun while it lasted, but the puzzle was too short and way too easy.

Baby Kaizo World was an adequate step up from both Quickie World games, and although it was somewhat lengthy (44 exits, if I recall correctly) the levels were short and decent. The trolls were cheap and predictable though, so I didn't really care for those. Overall it was a decent experience.

I then went on to play a very easy Kaizo hack called Robfather World, which was a very subpar experience. The level design was bland and boring, and the hack didn't really teach new players much.

Mario's Mystery Meat was a technically impressive hack. Stunning, it was. The difficulty got a little out of hand towards the end of the game (especially at the final boss), but it was a superb experience nonetheless.

Currently I am in the midst of playing a myriad of hacks; I am replaying VLDC8 without cheats, as well as Kaizo Kindergarten. I have also started OLDC, a lesser-known Kaizo hack called Snoman's Land, Akogare Mario World, and Invictus. I have completed the Worst Worlds of both VLDC8 and OLDC (thank goodness) in addition to a few levels in the main overworlds. I have played about half of Snoman's Land, which is decent but not great. I don't have a lot of fun with it, but the level design isn't bad. I have only completed the first two levels of Akogare Mario World but it has been great, and I have completed the first three worlds of Kaizo Kindergarten with ease. Invictus has been phenomenal so far, and I have completed the first five levels (one of which is reached via secret exit). The difficulty is a little higher than my level, so progress is quite slow. However, by the looks of the first few levels, I am excited to see the rest of the game.
Does anyone play James Bond games? I'm asking here cause a mod took down my thread.

I'm at Cosmo Canyon in Final Fantasy VII, got Yuffie at Gongaga at pure random (I was thinking of leaving her for Rocket Town since it was taking forever to get her but whoops I got her just as I was about to enter Gongaga) and I got 10 Enemy Skills with the first two Enemy Skill materia. Beta was funny because only one of them got it and the other just missed it twice (first time because Cloud got yeeted, second time because ???). Also managed to get pretty much all of the in-map materia. Titan is really dumb because you don't get any notice of it other than Scarlet looked at its spot during a scene. Thinking of doing Final Fantasy VIII and IX too but not at the same time.

Also beat Dragon Quest again. Used a walkthrough for a bit just to know when I could get Healmore and the distance of the Token of Erdrick from Castle Tantegel because lazy. Also got the Fairy Flute non-blind, which is like something I like to save for after I talk to the person that tells you about it because I'm stupid in that way, but again, I wanted to just do a casual playthrough.

Also started an Emelia file in SaGa Frontier. Currently out of Shingrow but I'm thinking of getting some more party members and magic before heading to Baccarat to move on with the story, visiting some side locations for extra cash and such...

Beat Emelia's story in SaGa Frontier the other day. Recruited Roufas (4th member of the party), Mei-ling, Lute and Rouge, went through Sei's Tomb for some gear, went through the Luminous Labyrinth, got the Arcane Tarot and Rune Stones in Devin, went through Tanzer and recruited Fei-On (who became my 5th member), through the Natural Cave in Koorong (Quakeworm was fun if challenging!), did the Takonomics/Gold Ingot Trick exploit for gear, magic and items, Mu's Tomb, got the gift for Rune Magic, did the Grail Card quest, the Shield Card quest, went through Baccarat in the main story, did the Gold Card quest, did the Saber Card quest and recruited Gen, stopped by Kyo to get Mind Heal, did the Trinity Base missions then went to the final dungeon in Yorkland. Diva was super tough since it gained HP from my grinding and it still took a lot out of me even with the souped up equipment and waza I had and all but I managed in the end.

Started Pokémon Red yesterday, started with Charmander this time to change things up. Got a Pidgey, beat Brock, went through Mt. Moon, got a Paras. Then today: grinded them to Lv20 (Charmeleon was already at mid 20s), beat Misty, got a Diglett, went through S.S. Anne, beat Lt. Surge (Dig just owns him), got a few more Pokémon for Flash, got the bike and got a Voltorb and Machop. Gonna grind them a bit before moving on, but that's for tomorrow.

Also got through the Cave of the Gi and the Shinra Manor in Final Fantasy VII over the past few days. Got Death Sentence and ???? on the Enemy Skill materia I have and recruited Vincent. Also got the Odin materia and Cosmo Memory as well as Added Effect, Gravity and Destruct. The scene with Seto and Red is so touching.

Okay so today I played through a bit of Dragon Slayer, PC88. I had to use savestates to keep my sanity because of the game being very archaic. I was a bit into building my stats in Phase 1, before I ran into enemies that drained your strength and experience with attacks. I felt like my progress was being undone so I quit the game. I still added it to Backloggery as null so I could give my own opinion on it in the review box.

I later tried out a bit of Xanadu: Dragon Slayer II, also PC88. I wasn't able to do anything in the first tower (knights kept blocking me? not sure), so I'm going to save it for another time with the help of a video guide on YouTube or Nico. Plays pretty alright though, very pleased! Getting through the copy protection puzzle in Level 0 is a bit dumb but thankfully video playthroughs exist.

Also got through Rock Tunnel in Pokémon Red and Mt. Nibel in Final Fantasy VII, also got Trine. Gonna go through Pokémon Tower and Rocket Town (and maybe Temple of the Ancients, possibly Wutai if I have the motivation for it?) respectively tomorrow. Might try to sneak Popolocrois if Xanadu doesn't take up too much time and get Chapter 2 finished.

Been playing Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne lately. I've been having a lot of fun with it! The game has a pretty cool, sort of "lonely" atmosphere for Demi-Fiend exploring the Vortex World and discovering just how much the world has changed since the Conception. Plus, the music is pretty great too.
Though the battle can get very tense sometimes with surprise back attacks where all the enemies target Demi-Fiend and critical and nearly kill him. That doesn't happen all the time but any time it does happen, it gets stressful. Nocturne is one of those games where if the main character dies it's game over. But, it makes more sense in this game than say, P3-5.

Backloggery MyAnimeList
Nocturne is super cool and totally worth playing for the aesthetic alone. I'm not a huge fan of the press turn system but it's still a decently-paced game with a world that's interesting to explore.
Went through Rocket Town, fought Palmer, got the Tiny Bronco and Cid, took a detour in Wutai to chase, then save Yuffie (and Elena), and went through the Gold Saucer revisit (didn't go to Bone Village) in Final Fantasy VII today, got the Aeris date (last time I got Tifa). Also got All Creation and Leviathan through the pagoda sidequest, and also Great Gospel (though Aeris would need quite a bit of grinding to be able to use it and I don't wanna do it). Just outside of the Temple of the Ancients.

Also played through most of Arc the Lad, thanks to Random.org for helping me decide. Went through Millmana to talk to the Forest Spirit in Toyoke Forest, saved Tosh, revisited Touvil in Seirya and fought at the Ancient Monolith, recruited Gogen, went through Alatos and recruited Chongara as well as got the Light Stone from the Light Guardian in Azenda Highland, went through Greyshinne to recruit Iga and got the Earth Stone from the Earth Guardian in Mt. Amaidar, and went through the Arena in Niedel to save the Wind Guardian and get the Wind Stone. I'm gonna focus on grinding the party a bit to get it more balanced since Arc sort of swiped all the experience and got to Lv36. Tosh is Lv35 and I'll continue tomorrow. All I have left is a visit to Zariban to save the Water Guardian and a
revisit to Seirya
to save the Fire Guardian and discover the big twist of the game.

Also Nocturne is a game I really want to play. Nameless also wants me to play it. So it's definitely in my to do list but I'll wait until I beat Shin Megami Tensei II at least.

Levelled up Iga, Kukuru and Gogen to Lv35, but some of em (including Tosh) have gained levels from actions in battle (getting hit etc). Arc's at Lv40? Poco's in the 20s and Chongara will be afterwards. All this in Arc the Lad. Added three hours to my total gameplay time.

Meanwhile I got the Saturn Pillar in Zaratan (not to be confused with Zariban) and explored some of Bael's Castle in Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II. 1F's entirety and part of 2F. Also recruited a Giant and fused a Rakcharango. Hopefully this is good enough to beat Bael. Some of the enemies in the higher floors have high levels, so I worry. I also grinded a bit for gear on the protag (Hideto/Takuma). Protag is at 45, while the witch (Rosanna/Asuka) is at 44. Of course, those aren't the names I gave the characters.

While I'm still not a fan of how Disgaea 5 toned down a lot of things and brought back a lot of annoying fluff mechanics, I really do like it quite a bit. Playing it on the Switch is way more convenient than playing it on the PS4 ever was. I'm so glad I was able to get this and Disgaea 4 for about $40 total.
Beat Arc the Lad! Grinded Poco and Chongara to Lv35, then just went to town on the story. Was still a bit challenging, but not much. Again Arc just gained too much experience, he reached Lv51 in the final battle. Very short game, but not a bad game. It's a shame that it was kind of rushed due to ambitions getting out of hand.

Also overwrote my 1st save where I beat it at 15h but that's ok
