Let's talk about the Coronavirus

Damn it, that sucks, Naro. Please take care of yourselves. Best wishes to y'all.

Shoot me a message if you need anything. My condolences to your family.

thanks.. i need 10k in my bank account :)

jokes aside from what we have seen we will probably be fine.. i think for most part news/media put way too much fear in our heads.. unless we have some unknown health problem that can aggravate with the virus.. then we just dont know..
but we are probably above average health wise, so still we have nothing to really worry about

I know I shouldn't but this phrasing made me giggle #ab{:P}

And yeah, that's good to hear. You just need to be extra cautious now, what with the recent news and stuff.

I'm genuinely pretty goddamn disappointed that cases are rising so much in the US. I was really looking forward to this upcoming semester of college, but things are so bad in my state that several of my would-be suitemates have pulled out of the deal.

Come on, my fellow Americans. :/

"The new normal"

I can't tell you how I hate those words. Since the lockdown and being furloughed I feel like I have fell back into old habits, trapping myself inside my own mind and being scared of how everyone thinks of me. Getting off the internet and getting out really helped me to see the bigger picture of myself and my life which lead to me feeling like I grown as a person in the last 5 years of my life.

This year though really had me really falling back. This "new normal" has been horrible for my mental state. I don't feel safe going out but going out was what had really been helping my mental state. Working, playing cards and hanging out with friends made me feel happier for my mental well being.

I want the normal normal back!

IKR. I prefer 1000X to call it "the as-of-now normal" or "current normal". "New normal" kinda sounds like conditioning and seems to imply still having to abide by stringent mandates post-pandemic, which no sane human would agree to do. If anything is a new normal it should be bosses in certain places feeling more sympathetic to sick employees and thinking of them not as simply just cogs.

Those are my least favorite words right now, next to "In these unprecedented times."

It's said so much and seemingly no one round here listens to it or takes it seriously anyways, mainly cuz we ain't even on lockdown. Just why.

Same, I prefer to call it "the temporary normal". Historically speaking, things returned to the "normal normal" after past pandemics like the Spanish flu so I don't see why restrictions would need to stay permanently once things are safer this time around. It just won't be healthy mentally to carry on like this forever once the virus is no longer a threat, in my opinion.

Looking on a more optimistic side, what does everyone hope to do after things get better? I would love to take an extended trip aka travel the world. Maybe buy a home. Have a big party.

I too dislike the "new normal", but we've gotten to adapt to it until the whole ordeal is over. It won't carry on like this forever.

We ain't on lockdown either and I don't think that'll ever happen. One of the cities of my state decided to make it a reality for the weekend only, but what's the use if it's just for two fucking days? It's a matter of time until people hang out recklessly again.

I have a lot of plans. I originally wanted to go to a party full of youngsters my age, but I don't think I'd enjoy it that much since I'm not into such parties. I'd also like to travel to many, many places, not just Uruguay. My friends from High School also want to make a junction that (jokingly) lasts two days #ab{:P} And mostly enjoy it with my gf.

So anyone here tested positive for covid 19?
what were the symptoms?

My wife just did the nasal test.. we will have to wait 48 hours for the results.

i didnt do the test as i dont have any sort of symptoms today and this test is a bit expensive here.

so im kinda curious about how everyone reacted to the virus.. in my family symptoms varied quite a lot.. but i believe most of the 'bad' reactions were from the medicine.. idk

Go to Kings Island to ride Orion, travel more (since I have more money than I really should saved up), hug, handshakes, run more, go to gym and restaurants without wearing a mask, go to basketball games.

Well, outside of my older sister, which lives in another state different from ours (RS), nothing much; she's also recovered fairly quickly from it too, and my dad, along with my middle sister got pretty scared, but I knew from the start that she would be fine anyway lol

Personally, nothing is really happening on my end either, and for the most part it's been fairly normal except for the fact I'm pretty much staying with my dad/middle sister throughout the entire thing, and since they're not exactly the most pleasant people to be around with I'm really just hoping this pandemic ends so I'll at least be able to get out of home and unwind in some way, because it's been real stressing for me :V

Visit family. I got people over on the east coast and in other parts of the plains I wanna visit. Also, when I have enough money, I'll probably try school again. It's been a long time since I gone to school. :(

Go swimming. I didn't think I would ever miss swimming this much, but I do. Technically, I could go today, as I think the pools have already reopened here, but I'm not taking the risk.

Also order a Pizza. We haven't ordered any food since Corona started.

I think that should be low-risk. I don't know how things are working in Germany with food delivery or pickup but many services offer contactless delivery, so they'll just leave the food by your door.
You're technically right, though I prefer to avoid even low risks as long as it's for something that is really just a nice-to-have. Also while contactless delivery is an option, I don't quite trust in delivery people actually doing it consistently. So far, it's been pretty rare to even see package delivery people wearing masks here, which you'd assume would be an obvious thing to do. Another problem is that since we don't go outside, we also don't have any cash around, so if we ordered food, we couldn't really tip the delivery person. While tipping in Germany isn't as important as it is in the US, I'd still feel uncomfortable not doing it. Some food delivery services by now support tipping online, but I don't really trust in that, either, because most of them rely on third-party restaurants hiring their own delivery people, so there isn't any guarantee that they will actually receive the tip.

In short, it's complicated and we'll keep avoiding it until the situation settles. It does have its positives, though. As a result of not being able to order pizza, we've actually finally decided to try making one ourselves, and it turned out pretty well, so we've done it regularly since then.

Understandable. Everyone has to go at the pace they're comfortable with.
Tbh, while I'm not exactly aware on whether pizza delivery services around here are doing these types of procedures or not (really doubt it considering how people here are treating the pandemic in general), my parents don't seem to be all that worried about it considering that they have ordered pizza (and hamburgers as well) quite a few times already, and while we haven't gotten any diseases over it yet... I dunno.

And also, when this pandemic ends I'm definitely planning on doing a ton more outdoor activities, and maybe go on a few concerts if I have the opportunity tbh, especially since that's what I tried to do before this pandemic started; would need a lot of money for that to go smoothly enough, but even if it doesn't work I can at least take a stroll around the big city, which is always nice despite how much I have to walk to get anywhere haha

State of emergency declared in the Philippines. Again. Now everyone (especially the medical staff) gets to stay home.
