The overworld so far. The cave with the blue pipes is World 3, the Piranha Plant Sewers, while the forest on the bottom is World 4.
Level 2-5: Bob-Omb Beach Party
The gimmick of this level is that you use Bob-Ombs to blast through cement blocks.
Level 2-6: Bullet Bill Hill
As the level name implies, Bullet (and Missile, and Frost) Bills abound.
Level 2-C: Koopanita's Castle
Tropes vs. Koopas in video games. The first half is a Vanilla Fortress clone, and the second half takes place on an overly "feminine" pink/purple beach. That's a pink Buzzy and Buster Beetle in the third screeny. D:
Level 3-1: Current Events
In this level, you have to use fast-moving water currents to guide you to victory. In-game screenshots don't do this level justice, so here's the Lunar Magic mockup.
Level 3-2: Nipper Network
In the Mario universe, sewer/pipe levels generally mean Piranha Plants, and this level delivers, in spades! I made my own graphics for Nipper Plants rather than use the SMB3 ones included with the sprite; they essentially appear as white Munchers in this hack.
Level 3-3: Lakitu's New Wall
That pesky Koopa behind the Mario Kart franchise is the name of this game. Of course, numerous secrets abound if you can get control of his cloud!
Level 3-4: Chuck Training Camp
K O O P A
F O O T B A L L
P L A Y E R S
Level 3-5: Gray P Grapple
Take the gray P Switch and engage in some weed-eating!
Also, this is the first of a handful of levels with Yoshi Wings in it, so here's what Level C8 looks like in my hack. (I've also edited Level 1C8, but I'll save that for the first level in the 100 range with Yoshi Wings in it...)
Level 3-6: Jump the Sharks
The waters of this level may be infested with sharks, but if you have a cape or Yoshi, you won't have much to fear.
Level 3-7: Torpedo Ted Terror
An attempted re-imagining of World 7-9 from
Super Mario Bros. 3, this level is the first of a handful with THREE exits! Can you find them all?
Since I got my 100
th star finding the normal exit for this level, here's Level 0.
Also, here's the Red Switch Palace. I used
the "All Switch Blocks Have Powerups" patch, so red ! Blocks will have a Fire Flower in them.
Level 3-C: SSSniperThwomp's Fort
Intended to reference both of World 7's castles in SMB3, the second, third, and fourth screenies show a completely empty room in which you need to take the cape and fly up to the hidden exit.
Because I can't draw a "sexy" "Arab" Koopa to save my life, Alia "SSSniperThwomp" Koopesh is the polar opposite of
her real-life basis, and as such is completely unseen in this hack. You're fighting her "pet Thwomp", a modification of
this sprite. Of course, that can always change!
What World 4 initially looks like. I also take this opportunity to show you some changes I made to the overworld border, which was unchanged in the last demo.
Level 4-1: Polluted Piranhas
Ptooie Plants and purple sludge everywhere! D:
Level 4-2: The Rock Garden
More fun with Bullet/Missile Bills; also, giving Dino Rhinos and Dino Torches their moment in the sun! D:
Level 4-3: Watering Plants...
A water level in a flooded forest.
Level 4-A: Beta Doomship
Why you would ever fly an airship in a forest, where there are loads of trees that you could crash into, is beyond me. Maybe that's why it's "beta"! D:
For the record, this is what the second secret exit always looks like in triple-exit levels.
