... That's right.
After 10 years and and HUGE SA-1 screw up... What-a-Blast is officially cancelled. I will no longer be working on it.

EDIT: The best thing that came out of this is the SPC OST, so i guess that's good :) It's the most I've ever done.

Here are some

Here is the final condition of it i have included with the SPCs. I may release the OST files in the future, but we'll see.

I would like to give ENORMOUS credit to Torchkas and Levelengine for giving the largest support on this project and other who have encourage me this far... however, SA-1 and real life conditions have prevented me from getting back to this.

Thank you.
No :(

Despite how buggy I remember most demos you released from being, I always very much looked forward to this project just for how unique it looked and sounded. You always stood out as one of my favorite graphics artists and composers in general, and it's a shame we won't get to see this as a final product. :/

But I can understand. Life can get hectic, and so can a hack with an enormous amount of customisation that you had to handle almost entirely on your own. I do hope motivation sparks on you again someday so you can still put something out.

Good luck with everything, Ruber!
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
It's sad how you spent 10 years working in your hack and it got cancelled #wario{:'(}
Kirbo was here
No..... Don't tell me it was 10 years thrown in the hole #smw{T_T}
Just some Ys fan lol
It's sad to see it be cancelled, but at the very least we do have a lovely OST! Everything about this project, from the art to the music to the crazy ASM work, has a very distinct Ruberjig style to it, which is really great to see. I suppose there's always hope in that cancelled doesn't mean lost forever; it'll always be there, and who knows what the future holds!

make what-a-blast in srb2 instead

Sad to hear you're cancelling this, but hey, things happen. Good luck with whatever project (if any) you decide to pursue after this.
Understandable, man... It sure was a very fun and original project you've spent all the time and effort making it for fun.
All of the original soundtrack and ASM is very impressible and has its own unique style, making it looks more like a original homebrew game than a SMW hack.

It'll be always be remembered as an impactful hack, for everyone!
A shame all that hard work had to go to waste. There was definitely a lot going for it, but after working on something for 10 years, being burnt out is a bigger possibility. Wish you luck on future endeavors!
Click here to enter the world of mediocre!
Maaaaaaaaan I remember one of the first betas you've released when it was an actual "Mario" project. Sad to hear it end after a decade.
Want progress on 100 Rooms of Enemies: The Nightmare Edition? Go here to see.

(rip my other userbars momentarily)

Could you tell us about that sa-1 screw up? Maybe it's not something irreversible...

In any case, it's sad to see such an interesting work judging from the screenshots get discontinued. I wish you luck on future endeavours.
sorry to hear about the cancellation. best of luck with w/e you work on next!

Sad to hear this being canceled after so much work went into it. But I am sure you can put everything you've learned from it into an even better project!
I have no doubt that project will be great. #smw{:TUP:}

Got to play this at one other point with you and i got to say even though it may feel and look at points like a broken mess, It's still really fun to play around with. Since you have all of these concepts like the other animal characters and their own abilities or the massive overworld with unique areas or the funni little extra sprites you added to the main protag. I feel if this never went down the drain i would have loved to experience it. Love your pal. #lm{owexstar}
Thank you and have a nice day

Follow these rules in hopes to make a successful hack!

1) Have a plan and idea of what your rom hack will look like
2) Plan it all out on paper before you actually make it
3) Don't make the game too ambitious
4) When you decide to actually do it, make sure you are committed all the way.
5) Make backups constantly while working on the rom so you can revert back to a stable build if you mess something up
This is a real shame to see but its understandable especially since you feel it has become too much to work on and it always way a crazy ambitious project. Despite all the bugs/glitches I always felt this hack really stood out and had great potential. The tilesets and sprite work were particularly good, I loved your usage of a soft lineless style paired with nice smart calm colour choices it really worked well together. Further more I always liked that the setting felt like its own unique world filled with strange creatures and structures. Anyways good luck with any future project! I am sure the skills you learned during this project will somehow come in handy!! ^u^

Dear everyone, I'm tired of hearing about amazing and brilliant projects that accept the fate of being cancelled.

Let me tell you how to do this.

And there it is............ so follow these rules or else suffer the fate of being a cancelled project.

This is sad because it was so promising.

6) Do not, DO NOT, DO NOT SCREW UP on Rule 5
I'm a bit sad that you cancelled what-a-blast but i guess SA-1 and life issues are the reason. You should backup your hack next time if you are working on a another project.
Unless you back working on what-a-blast in 20XX but the project is completely restarted but that is extremely unlikely

I've always like the style you managed to get into SMW and how you made it look so different.
Sad to hear its not been worked on anymore but it was always fun to see what you'd show and create.

Good Luck with any future projects be SMW or other. You have a real creative flair so it would be a shame if you don't apply your creativity to something. #smrpg{y}
I guess the thread sounds like a little bit of a broken record at this point but I still have to say it's a shame to see this cancelled. I guess it goes to show how important organization is for large projects, especially when they take long to finish. Still, I don't think you should see this as wasted time, like some are saying. If you enjoyed working on it then it doesn't really get better than that. At the end of the day we're here because we enjoy making things right? Most projects don't finish, and maybe that's ok. I'm sure you learned a tremendous amount from doing this and that's really valuable.

allow shy guy emojis in post footers you cowards!
