Cool ports tho,I really liked the marble zone one, but I'd rethink the intro part instruments tho, could hurt someone with sensible ears #smrpg{sad}

A snare drum like @29 (with zero attack value) should play alongside the "Go!" voice sample in Launch Base Zone. I'm not hearing it. This also kinda evidences it.
Also, that voice sample gets a bit off-time around 0:18~0:19, by about a half beat.

I think tiredness from school and exams were really getting to me when I was porting this, because it turns out that desync was caused by a note with an extra dot... which then cancelled itself out because I forgot a record scratch. Interestingly, the sample folder for the initial version of Launch Base also had a layered GO!/@29 .brr... which was unused. It's all fixed up now, and I even remade the sample from scratch to be less crusty.

Shouldn't there be a @22 constantly playing 32nd notes in Blue Spheres? I'm not hearing that. That helps keep the beat, and that's what I hear from the game too.

So this is interesting, because the noise channel was actually there, yet AMK for some reason refused to play the entire thing after I lowered its volume? I played around with different v values and now it's back, so let's hope it stays that way.

Thank you for letting me know, I'll play around with it some more!

Personally I don't like sonic music much, but that's my problem. Giving them at least a brief listen I can hear how much effort you've put into them and they certainly turned out decent.
As you might expect I am more interested in your Touhou ports and I am happy how they have turned out as well, especially considering you worked on so many ports for this c3.
Seriously, great job #smw{:TUP:}

These are all rad bebn. Of course, I'm biased as hell because I love Sonic music, but you've done an excellent job.

Like I said on Discord it's weird hearing a version of the launch base Run DMC sample that isn't compressed to hell. It's so much clearer here.

Dude... you surely worked a LOT to make all of those ports in such a compromised time window, and doing all you have been doing for SMWC... I commend you. End of story. I liked what I have heard, so we can add the quality aside the quantity and the time you made those. Congrats!

There's more Touhou on the way now that I've got all the Sonic out of my system.

I hear you, finding uncompressed samples from old Sonic games feels like finding gold, especially when you can actually understand what they're saying for once.

Thank you! Honestly, not wanting to do your schoolwork does wonders in terms of hobbies haha.

I think at this point there might be more Sonic ports than Mario ports #smw{...}
Anyway, Dire Dire Docks sounds comfy as always, Special Stage sounds better than the original, Zone Clear sounds totally radical, and Marble Zone 1-1 sounds the most accurate, but I liked 0-0 too.

Same. Touhou port = me post

...wait, is that... Touhou 17 stage 5?!? One of the best out of that soundtrack?! That's some good taste :p You really nailed the energy of this track, even with vanilla samples! Nice job picking the instruments there.
Awesome job with Minoriko's theme as well - same comment, you've nailed the energy of this song very nicely.
I don't really know where this False Strawberry track is from, but it sounds very Touhou-like and I am very pleased.

I'm not really familiar with most, if any, of the other songs because I don't know video games (I guess I also know Dire Dire Docks, lol), but I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. It's always pleasant to get a big chunk of unsampled ports - really brings me back to the old times. Those are absolutely a must-have for people who make more vanilla-looking hacks (Lotica I'm looking at you 👀). Heck, makes me wish mine was on that style. I sorta love this legacy hack feeling... ah #smrpg{haha}

Awesome job bebn #w{<3}
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
These ports are pretty nice I'm kinda vibin doe

One thing I may suggest you for future ports (listening to that updated 2hu port), is that you probably want to use a fast @13 rather than a @9 when your notes go too high. @9s get kinda dry on high notes, while @13 is pretty nice on a wider pitch range.
As you use @13 as piano more, you'll love it, trust me.

Great work though, you did a lot of ports here #smw{:peace:}
These ports are spectacular, bebn, and I love the amount of Sonic 3 & Knux. ports you made (I'm incredibly biased towards that OST), and I freaking love Arid Canyon Act 1 and Beast Metropolis in here. Those have to be my favorites in here.

False Strawberry is from Shuusou Gyoku, the first game in the Seihou series which is sort-of-but-not-really similar to Touhou, though ZUN composed the music for the first two games in the series.
Reimu and Marisa
are also the extra stage bosses in the first game.

I just find it so much fun to do things unsampled or lightly sampled because SMW samples are very strange and very versatile.

Oh yes, absolutely. I used to really like @9 back when I was starting out, but I've drifted more towards @1 for piano recently. I definitely need to give @13 a spin as well, so thank you for the tip!

bebn doing sonic and touhou ports, what?!
Jokes aside, these sound spot on, and the sheer amount of work that you put into all of these ports is impressive. Good job on doubling the music's waiting queue :P
(also, is palmtree panic zone past the song with most versions on the site now?)

I think that's kinda also why I made my port of Green Hill Zone a long time ago, but I'm not sure, it's been a few years since I made the first version of the port #smrpg{:D}
:D THESE ARE EPIC!!!
I refuse to believe that Sonic CD - Collision Chaos Zone (Past) port is nearly unsampled, that intro part sounds just like it does in the game!
Currently working on:
Super Kekcroc World 4 (lol jk)
listening listening listening...

gets to the Launch Base Zone Act 1 song

OoO

Okay this is really cool stuff honestly. You definitely delivered some gold-with-distinction leveled unsampled arrangements bebn! Keep up the good work!

Wow, these ports are awesome!

I especially like the ports you made of Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD tracks; IMO they stand out to me. Great job on making them!
oops i finished another port I had lying around

here's Esperanto from Mega Man Zero 4

I'm not super familiar with this song to the point of knowing every detail, so feel free to yell if there are Mistakes!!

Technically the monkey noise and slash sounds are ripped directly from the game, since I feel like they give a very unique charm to the song, just like Stardust Speedway's HUEHUE, especially the former. The piano is also a chord sample, though entirely constructed from the SMW piano.

probably lmao

Thank you for the kind words, everyone!

Nice ports you got here bebn. I especially enjoy the quartz quadrant past port. One of my favorite, if not, my favorite Sonic CD past song. (the esperanto port is nice too)
“I’m so hangry. I wonder what’s for lunch!”
I'm posting this because you finally managed to port Twinkle Star Sprites' "Love Me" unsampled and perfect. You're doing great, bebn!
