These are some screenshots for a hack I'm working on. For the moment, it's called "Glow", but I don't like that name. It's styled around Gameboy Color graphics. Obviously, it's unfinished. I just wanted to show some of it off. I'd like for it to be a difficult hack, but I'm not to good when it comes to difficult level design, so idk. The story is simple: all the colors were stolen and split accross 7 levels. You must beat each one to get the colors back.

Red Forest

Yellow Canyon

Green Lake

Purple Plains

Indigo City

A boss

Overworld

EDIT: I made the first level and was hoping for some feedback. Does it seem too hard?
I really really really dig the look of this hack.
I feel you got the minimalistic style of the GBC down to a tee.
I am getting a lot of Kirby Dreamland 1+2 vibes but that is only natural seeing as they were GBC games.

I'll be happy to see a more difficult hack as I feel a lot of hacks these days are pretty standard when it comes to challenge.
That said I wish you the best of luck with this project. #smrpg{y}
This is a cute hack idea. I like the graphics you've made!
While some GFXX are primitive, they're aiming for a different style. Good work, Idunno.
It is very good, I love the colors#smw{:TUP:}
i will change this eventually
The graphics really do imitate the GBC quite well. I love that you've tied the artistic choice to the plot, too. Looks promising so far!
I like the simple graphics and the concept for the hack itself sounds original. Eager to see where this goes!
>Mark danced crazy!
Backloggery MyAnimeList
the color theme going on is quite lovely!
Has a very unique Gameboy Color esque graphics style going on here! I really like this! We have far too few 8-bit hacks on the hacks section, we need more!
Currently working on:
Super Kekcroc World 4 (lol jk)
This looks promising!
Tbh it's a little sad that it has to be short.
Please pardon the eye.
Aesthetically, it looks pleasing. Overall, not bad so far. Hopefully the levels are good as well. I couldn't get a good idea on the level design from the shots unfortunately. Still, keep it up!

The levels aren't made yet. All that I made so far are the GFX, music, the tutorial level and overworld.
A very cool and cute cartoony style :D
The premise of this hack seems pretty cool. It reminds me a bit of Paper Mario Color Splash a bit. I would like to see a bit more of the level design though. Keep it up #smrpg{y}!
This looks pretty cute! I like experimental hacks like this. The different palettes also give me vibes of some old Game Boy games, which, when played on the Super Game Boy, occasionally switched between between different, simple palettes. It's kinda pleasent to look at!
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
Very cool style, Idunno!

This could turn out to be quite good if the levels you make achieve what you want.

As much as this graphical style is really nice, the level design of this hack is the most important. Some make sure your level design matches the quality of your graphics!

What kind of design philosophy do you plan to follow?

I plan to have the levels start off easy and work their way up in terms of difficulty. The levels would usually start by introducing the main mechanic of a level and working around it.
Wow! That's some neat idea over there. I really love the simplicity of Game Boy Color graphics, some of my favorite games are from this platform, so I'm very happy to see that you're creating a hack in this style. #smrpg{:3}

That greyscale overworld is straight fire #smrpg{:O}

allow shy guy emojis in post footers you cowards!
Dang! I'm enjoying the look of the graphics, palettes, and the general aesthetic you have here! I love it! Definitely wanna give this a playthrough when you release something for it!
