Do you think Nintendo would remake Super Mario World for Switch?

If they do, I hope they go for an art style reminiscent of something like Sonic Mania or even Octopath Traveller. Do you think they'd do it? Why or why not?

If they start releasing SNES games for their online service, which I REALLY want to happen, Super Mario World might be one of the first SNES games put on there.

But you'll be able to make Super Mario World-styled levels in Super Mario Maker 2.

Other than that, I think Nintendo might make a game with Super Mario World mechanics, items, blocks, etc., but it won't be straight up Super Mario World. It will be an all new game with all new levels.

The authors of these 2 My Little Pony fan games have removed their games from the Internet.

I wish there was some way that you don't have to rebuy them for every system, even if they are much less expensive than more current games. But no, they think that they'll lose enough money to suddenly go under if they do that.

Maybe yet another "NSMB" game, which would have Yoshi, Koopaling bosses, power-ups other than mushroom, fireflower, and star, and many of the same enemies.

Long answer: They have SNES games coming to the online membership library coming soon, and you bet Super Mario World is going to be one of the games. They're still making loyalties off of the game's assets, even today. And assets are being renewed every year. They know how important Super Mario World is, and to this day, some of those assets are still being used in the newest games today, either repurposed or otherwise.

Short answer: Why wouldn't they?

No... What I think he means I REMAKING Super Mario World with IMPROVED GRAPHICS! Not some virtual console stuff or reusing stuff from SMW. But remaking it LIKE Sonic Mania or SMAS. At least that's what I got from this. But I don't know, It's sometimes hard to tell what exactly people mean but... It would be pretty damn rad If they gave SMW the Sonic Mania treatment. Remixed music, revamped graphics, But still... I don't think a Sonic Mania styled SMW Remake is gonna happen. With you know SMA2 Existing

I am being misunderstood. I was saying Nintendo knows how important Super Mario World is and them doing a straight up remake of Super Mario World is not at all out of the question. It's a matter of whether it's worth the investment.

I'd be surprised if they did because they'd have to update it quite a lot, to the point where it is probably not worth putting the effort into remaking a game and is better put into making an entirely new game instead. It is much more likely that they will put the original game up as part of a potential SNES NSO app or sold individually on the eshop as if it were a VC title.
they should, because it could make an already good game better.

I don't see that happening, I'd rather have a new 2D Mario game, rather than a remake anyway. If they did though, I'd probably buy it!
probably not, but they still have the switch online thingy
I think it would be a great remake. It would fit the 3d sidescroller style perfectly. I also think it would help popularize the SNES Online app because playing a remastered version would make you want to play the original, or vice versa.

I have serious doubts they will remake it for the Switch, but they should. If they start it now though they'll miss the 20th anniversary mark which would be the absolute best time to have done it.

There is a lot of potential with the Special World's flip of SMW to the fall theme that they could exploit to expand the original game in a meaningful way without taking away from the core game, as the most they did in the original was change the overworld palette and a few sprites. This could become an "Extra" mode, with much harder redesigns of the base levels, recolored base levels to fit the fall theme or nighttime themes, and possibly even new bosses or new behaviors for old bosses in this mode, and there should be an in-file way to switch between the two modes so you can still get 100% completion in a file and freedom to play whichever levels you've unlocked.

Style-wise, I'd go for an art direction like NSMB with retro-style models that capture the early 1990s look of the franchise, coupled with camera dynamics like Kirby 64 for rich 3D scenery and the intuitive controls on a 2D playing field.

Dear Nintendo of Japan: I know you've lurked before here. Take note and make this happen.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!

Yes, that would be bitchin'. A harder version of the Bowser fight could be a true final boss. And maybe the harder version of his castle could be having to play thru all the rooms in a row rather than having to choose only 2 of the rooms to go thru.
