24hoSMW #12 ~ RESULTS!!!!

OLD - Level DesignResults

Hi again guys.
OK.. I'm reviewing the comments that have been done for every level and I can understand the judging choices. My lowest-tier choices received a low rank, too, so I'm at peace.

It's fun, I kind of identified some users who always get in the same tier as me, so I'm gonna assume I do have the same "level" as they do somehow. Highly eligible for team-working.

EDIT : HOLY HELL I didn't realise Medic level's got 1st! It was my favourite!!! So a well deserved victory and well done and and and good.
getting a rare trophy that no one else has and probably no one else will ever have strokes my ego more than if i got 1st place

If I'm remembering correctly, that section had the climbing nets, and there was a flipping gate at the bottom, which made it seem like you had to flip the gate and go behind the blue wall "blocking" the climbing net. However, the front of the wall was also climbable, which makes the flipping gate sort of pointless and takes away from what seemed like the intended challenge of the section, since you can just immediately jump up and pass it instead of actually climbing around on the nets.

I see. I don't know how I didn't notice that and why I didn't use red question block sprites to block the way. On SomeGuy712x's video and Sayuri's SMWC stream it looked like the blocks really were solid on one side and you could get past them when you were behind the net. Are stone blocks in layer 1 in connection with net in layer 2 perhaps walk-through? Is there no block in vanilla Map 16 that acts like what I intended to do? I'll be aware of this.
I have a Discord server as well! (by joining, you agree to the rules)

Actually, I never tried touching that wall while on the front side of the net. I just went back and tried it now, and yeah, you can climb on the front side of the wall just as easily as the back side. Thinking about it now, I have an idea as to how you can make it work as intended using pure vanilla resources...

You could place invisible solid block sprites (like the one used for the switch palace corner tile in the !-switch rooms in the original game) along the edges of the wall you're supposed to climb behind, so that you "bump" into the wall if you try to pass through it on the front, but the invisible solid blocks won't affect you if you're behind the net, letting you climb behind the wall just fine. (Of course, you have to be careful of the sprite limit if you use invisible block sprites for this purpose.)
Because of my entry being easy, I thought it got list place. I'm glad it didn't. Congrats to the top 3, or, top 4?

31st, not bad. Also, why disqualified people doesn't have a participate trophy? They did take part in the contest.

It's a practice in place to prevent people just submitting joke/no-effort entries just to get a trophy in their profile. Not just for this contest, but for all contests that award participant trophies.
Congrats to everyone!!!
