TL,DR - Pokémon, Kirby and Zelda mainly, although I'd love to modify many things if there are enough tools for it (and if/when I learn coding, maybe even dip into games that don't have tools that are as easy to use as SMW and Pokémon or even making tools myself)
I've only hacked SMW really.
I kinda want to maybe make a
Pokémon hack some day, there are so many of them out there, and so few of them really interest me. My problem is that unlike SMW hacks, most Pokémon hacks try too hard to just be like the regular Pokémon games but edgy and story-driven or hard and grindy (or both).
And I want a game that feels more different, just like with my preferences towards SMW hacks, I want something that the official games would never do. Experimental ideas, clever game design, maybe puzzles and whatnot.
So far, the few hacks that really got me in love were
Pokémon Crystal Clear and
Pokémon Coral. Pokémon VR Missions is quite interesting too, and I'm sure I've seen some other cool stuff that were quite there but were still fine, but otherwise, that's about it.
I have no idea how accessible Pokémon hacking is for the ideas I have, but given what I've seen, it doesn't seem too bad, but I wonder what will require the equivalent of ASM in those (I don't know if GBA uses ASM), but I hope I can do it soon enough (I might even give it a shot casually whenever I'm taking breaks from my SMW stuff).
Zelda hacking is also something that sounds interesting to me.
I'd like to hack the 2D GBC and GBA games, although hacking the 3D N64 games seems interesting too, even if a little more intimidating due to it seeming more complex (but if SM64 hacking is so advanced now, maybe Zelda is too, after all despite being less popular than Mario and Pokémon, Zelda is still very popular).
I'd also love to make a
Kirby hack, something that feels slightly harder than the original games, but still just as fun. I have no idea of how that would even work, but this is just a series that has a lot of potential with all the copy abilities, flying and so on.
Otherwise, I'm not sure of what else, really.
There's definitely stuff I'd love to modify, but I have no idea what games have stable/accessible tools for easy use, or any at all.
Хуй войне!
