Other games you've hacked/want to hack besides SMW?

Yoshi's Island is a game which I have worked a couple times. There was my attempt at SMWCI but lost motivation to finish the level, then much later, I won 3rd place for YILDC which lead to ripping the layer 3 sunset (required a couple dips at the disassembly) which lead to me on working on SMWCI again, this time more on the technical side. Raiden also planned on make a new, more functional level editor and I surely want to work on it.

No plans on other games, I do find some games which are interesting to hack (e.g. Super Metroid).
What happened to Elibean Nights is unfortunate. Something a lot of people were hyped for and it's shut down. It's shitty what happened to Arch, but after what he and his staff put me through 10 years ago, he doesn't get any sympathy from me.

I do feel for the people that actually wanted Elibean Nights, though. That royally sucks. Who was the "shitty YouTuber"? Not that I plan on giving him any undeserved views, but it's nice to know for context.

I need to try FEBuilder one of these days and just create a silly casual hack for myself and my friends. Sounds like a neat tool.

Some guy named Mangs, I dunno. I've never heard anyone on FEU talk about him positively. Apparently he whipped his fanbase up into a negative tizzy over EN, and the negativity eventually got to Arch. It's unfortunate, but I'm honestly more surprised it was still going. When I started FE hacking back in 2013, EN was supposedly in beta testing for release. Same for the FEXNA toolset bwdyeti was working on. That was in "closed alpha". It's 2019 now and EN was only cancelled in September, and FEXNA is still in "closed alpha" as far as I can tell. Frankly, my friends and I moved on from caring about either project, because it felt like EN was a victim of feature creep, and FEXNA's public release was nothing more than vaporware despite some friends of bwdyeti having access to it.

Having used FEBuilder a bit, it's really something. It's rather easy to edit most things in the game (I never did figure out how to make/edit scripts). Too bad it's only for the GBA games though I imagine implementing support for the NES/SNES ones would be a ton of effort for too little gain
It's quite the far cry from the days of Sappy, Nightmare, and all those tools. It's fun to mess with if nothing else. I gave some effort in making a hack but FE hacks are so complicated to make :/

FE Hacking really is a challenge. There's so many pieces of the puzzle that you need to make to have a completely new game. Character portraits, animations, scriptwriting, and then the actual scripting of the game itself. Our project has a good 8 people actively working on it or contributing in some way, and we're basically 1/3 done after all these years. Admittedly we threw out a lot of older work for being subpar, but it still takes a long time to do.

Honestly, I'm also shocked EN was still being worked on myself. That was, what, an 8 year project? Maybe longer?

A lot of people gave up on FEXNA and from what I remember in recent memory, it's more of a meme than a project that was being worked on. So I wouldn't have too much hope for it.

I want to hack SM64 but i have a tiny knowledge on it. Atleast i can change textures from the game
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones was my first foray into ROM hacking, thanks to the accessibility of FEBuilder.
"I am Ferdinand von Aegir" - Ferdinand von Aegir, Fire Emblem: Three Houses (2018)
weirdly I've never posted here about this - I even checked!

I've always wanted to delve into Pokémon GBA hacking, but I feel it's probably more complex than I can deal with (from what I've seen) - and nowhere near as accessible as SMW hacking! I think I looked at GoldenEgg once a few years ago, but that never went any further.
I've dabbled a bit in Yoshi's Island and New Super Mario Bros. Not much I can do with either besides make new levels, though. I've also tried Mega Man and (the original NES version of) Super Mario Bros. 3, but I couldn't get the Mega Man level editors to work, and the only SMB3 one that worked was also a pain in the butt to use. I also made one level for SMAS SMB3 with an ASM patch as kind of a proof-of-concept. I'm kind of at the point where I'd rather just do homebrew than mess with another game, unless I only feel like making levels and nothing else.

----------------

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
Sonic 1 and 2. Due to the hacking scene, modifying the games in-depth using ASM is quite easy, what with split disassemblies, and that interests me.

Of course you do have to learn 68000 ASM first and all the info of the addresses is kept in the disassemblies rather than in a RAM Map, so you've got to get used to that.
Sonic 1 is thankfully a well coded game, thanks to Yuji Naka, so using the disassembly to learn by example is likely easier than with SMW?

Sonic 3&K is much harder to modify sadly...

I'd also like to check out NES hacking, specifically Mega Man ASM hacking (Rockman 4 MI rubbing off on me...).
Japanese Mega Man hacks are extremely interesting (mostly on the level design department) but the hacking scene for them over there has calmed down a bit with less ambitious hacks being released on occasion. The western scene isn't as big either.

I have hacked SMB1 and SMB3 before. I still want to release a completed SMB3 hack one of these days considering as recently as a few months ago successors to SMB3 Workshop are in development and considering what SMB3 Workshop is and can do for the ROM (causes corruption of level data) I support these developments.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Projects I support:

Many eons ago I messed around with SM64 rom hacking, recently I've tried Pokemon Firered and Kirby's Adventure.

I'd love to hack SMRPG but it appears far too difficult.
Layout by RanAS, modified by yours truly.

I'm just gonna put it in list form because it's a alot.
----------------------------------------------------------
Games i have hacked before (released or not) (excluding SMW and SMW2: YI)
*Super Mario Bros trilogy
*New Super Mario Bros.
*Kirby's Dream Land and Adventure (KDL is small graphic hack)
*Kirby Super Star and Nightmare in Dream Land (using Kirby Color Editor)
Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy; This was the game i usually hacked for before i started hacking SMW and SMW2, and started hacking after hacking SMB1
The Legend of Zelda trilogy (never got through one edit)
------------------------------------------------------------

Games i wish to hack
*Many random NES games
*Kirby GB and SNES games (i can't go more than minor graphic changes)
*Mario arcade game NES ports
*SMB2J (In graphics)
*Pokemon games
*SM64 (I'm bad at it)
*SM64DS (Same as original)
That's all. I'll update it if any more pop up in my mind.
I still want a gui for SMA4's world-E level editor. Also, I wanna know if there truly is a reward for filing the e-Castle without hex editing.
TL,DR - Pokémon, Kirby and Zelda mainly, although I'd love to modify many things if there are enough tools for it (and if/when I learn coding, maybe even dip into games that don't have tools that are as easy to use as SMW and Pokémon or even making tools myself)

I've only hacked SMW really.

I kinda want to maybe make a Pokémon hack some day, there are so many of them out there, and so few of them really interest me. My problem is that unlike SMW hacks, most Pokémon hacks try too hard to just be like the regular Pokémon games but edgy and story-driven or hard and grindy (or both).

And I want a game that feels more different, just like with my preferences towards SMW hacks, I want something that the official games would never do. Experimental ideas, clever game design, maybe puzzles and whatnot.

So far, the few hacks that really got me in love were Pokémon Crystal Clear and Pokémon Coral. Pokémon VR Missions is quite interesting too, and I'm sure I've seen some other cool stuff that were quite there but were still fine, but otherwise, that's about it.

I have no idea how accessible Pokémon hacking is for the ideas I have, but given what I've seen, it doesn't seem too bad, but I wonder what will require the equivalent of ASM in those (I don't know if GBA uses ASM), but I hope I can do it soon enough (I might even give it a shot casually whenever I'm taking breaks from my SMW stuff).

Zelda hacking is also something that sounds interesting to me.
I'd like to hack the 2D GBC and GBA games, although hacking the 3D N64 games seems interesting too, even if a little more intimidating due to it seeming more complex (but if SM64 hacking is so advanced now, maybe Zelda is too, after all despite being less popular than Mario and Pokémon, Zelda is still very popular).

I'd also love to make a Kirby hack, something that feels slightly harder than the original games, but still just as fun. I have no idea of how that would even work, but this is just a series that has a lot of potential with all the copy abilities, flying and so on.

Otherwise, I'm not sure of what else, really.
There's definitely stuff I'd love to modify, but I have no idea what games have stable/accessible tools for easy use, or any at all.

Have you heard of YY-CHR? It will edit the game's graphics. Also, many of the games you mentioned have level editors and editors for some other stuff. I would recommend going on ROMHacking.net and looking for Tools for the games you want to hack.
And have you hacked SMB1 before? It's great for starters.
other games ive hacked
Mario64 (obviously)
Smash64
Mario Sports Mix

Im actively working on a Mario sports mix hack with 2 other modders

I'd be interested in knowing if there are SM64 Hacks and YI Hacks listed on the menu to the right, then there should be SML Hacks as well. There are any.

Not without enough audience and interest.

I know about YY-CHR. I did look into some stuff on romhacking.net and while I don't plan on doing any of that now, it's interesting to see how there are tools for games I didn't ever expect like Tails Adventures of all things (a game I love, but I don't see a lot of Game Gear love on the Internet, so I was suprised).

I never hacked SMB1, and while I never felt much interest because I just prefer SMW, I might just check it out at some point, it might be pretty interesting just to see what it has to offer.
