Custom Instrument Thread (2023/10/11)

You need to use two channels that are next to each other in the SPC with the second one (which is the one on the right) to be the channel affected by the $FA $00 $XX command. You can download the SPCs by middle-clicking them if you want to see how it looks on the SPC.

Also, what's the intended way to remove the beginning of the sample in the case of the @7 organ?

You need to have the beginning of the sample play at v0 or q00 at o6a. The next note will be whatever you need for your song or port. Just set the preferred volume and pitch, make sure you are using the legato ($F4 $01) command, and it should sound just like an organ.

Thanks for telling me. For a little further clarification, if you wanna remove the beginning of the sample, you must do @XX o6a v0 c16 $F4$01 v180 ^1 or something?

I'll just show you an example with MML for what I do whenever I use @7 as an organ:

Code
@30 $F4 $01 / v0 o6a8 v200 o4e8g8c8 r2

The output is this.

If your method is working just as well as my method, then you should be fine. Personally I don't fiddle around with the ^ to the point of calling command in between.

Added this. Very good use of the @0!

Guys, I think I've discovered a better tom which uses only one channel from Sinc-X's Bosconian 'Flash Flash Flash' port and it sounds perfect. I was surprised to hear a proper, one-channel-only tom for once! Here it is: @12 $8F $F8 $DF $03 $00 (to be used with $EC $00 $0C $F4, though his version used the $DD command)

Thanks, Sinc-X!

Do you have an SPC of your toms in action? I need one to add it to the table.

I gave up on 72hoSPC #6, so here is one of pitch modulated instruments I made:

Instrument #instrument Data Values Notes
Skakuhachi @7 $BF $20 $00 $03 $00
@0 $FB $E0 $00 $06 $00
Both channel in same octave
Instrument #instrument Data Values Notes
Contrabass @0 $00 $00 $DB $03 $00 Is used well with a vibrato and a tremolo. The values I have here were p1,24 and $E5$00$08$1A

While trying to convert a more classic song to unsampled, I've got a rather good result using this. It features the low pitch, viby, pwm-like sound you'd expect from the supersized violin family.

Note: for some reason, on my browser the spc player does not want to play it. But, if I right-click and ask downloading the source, it works.
Does anyone have ADSR for Rock Organ please ?

Pitch Modulation: Timpani @29 $8F $F0 $80 $02 $40
@4 $8F $F5 $80 $01 $80
Having @4's volume be approximately 3/4 of @29's volume is recommended.

Steel Guitar @14 $FD $D3 $00 $07 $00 A good alternative from @5, anything lower than o3 is just bass again.

A simple and yet quite handy instrument that I use all the time (or atleast most of the time)
Updated with new values since 2020 😇
