A Plumber For All Seasons - World 3 Gameplay Footage

Super Mario WorldVideo/Trailer

A Plumber For All Seasons is a hack I've been working on for (aaaaaaaaa) close to eight years now. For those who haven't heard of it, the main premises are:
  • there's four main worlds, each in the same location but in a different season
  • I'm trying to make as many resources as possible myself — certainly all the graphics, a lot of ASM, and perhaps some music here and there. (psst! if you're interested in composing music for this hack, get in touch with me!)

I've been notoriously slow working on this hack, but in the past year or so I've had a bit more time to devote to it. World 2 took me roughly two and a half years to make - from early 2017 up until last Summer - and with equal parts joy and astonishment I can say that now, only one C3 later, world 3 (the Autumn/Fall world) is finished as well!

I shouldn't say fully finished, because the last level is only halfway done, but it's more than enough to compile some gameplay footage of every level. (Just barely got this done in time for C3.) So here you go!

(This video is a lot longer than the world 2 footage, and the only reason for that is the background music - it was tricky choosing a song, and the only one I found is four minutes long.)

After this there's one more world to go, give or take a few levels.

If you like what I've been working on so far, visit my hack thread after C3 is over for more or less regular updates on world 4 and beyond!

Oh man, every single update to this hack makes the world just a bit better. Real happy that you could get into the flow and complete such a sizeable portion so quickly! Lord knows I could use that Everything is coming along gangbusters so far, but do you imagine ever going back and refining older assets? Or have you been doing that continuously?

Other Submissions of mine!
The graphic style this hack has going for it is amazing, I'm always blown back by that. Level design wise it looks like a blast.

The Big Boo is my favorite enemy seen in this video. :O
Layout by RanAS, modified by yours truly.

Looking great as always. I might be interested in composing music for the hack, depending on what you're after.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
At each footage you release I look forward to your hack's completion even more! (it was also really nice that this time around it was longer than previous showcases!)

You're always making really fun levels and I'm sure this hack will be a blast once it's finished! Nothing else to say that I haven't said other times.
This gets better and better, WYE! Always been watching your hack thread for updates since last C3 and great to see world 3 is pretty much done. You've got a great knack for creativity and this will be a hack I definitely want to wait and play for.

Great job and looking forward to more as always #tb{^V^}
What can I say that I haven't said in the past about your work WYE?
Back in my early days of hacking you were one of the people I loved seeing work from such as your Pokey's Adventure.
It was all so inspiring back then and still is to this day seeing as your still here and still making top quality content.

Can't wait till this is fully completed mate. #smrpg{gasp}
Honestly it just looks so polished.
This is one of the only hacks I'm still following in the WIP forum. I still think it is one of, if not the most aesthetically pleasing hack I have ever seen. Each level teems with its own unique atmosphere, and some of the levels (like the one with the rain) are pretty jaw-dropping.

The design is looking solid too. I think the last thing I played of yours was many, many years ago, and it was pretty good back then, so I'm sure your modern design is going to transcend that a ton.

Keep up the great work.

The amount of effort that it takes to do everything (or at much as you can) by yourself is just incredible!
Many people tend to give up after a few years. This is a project of passion and I certainly love this little update here.

I haven't been following too closely, admittedly, but I do love the efforts and hard work shown here.

Keep up the great work~! ^.=.^

Thanks for all the nice comments! #tb{:)} Glad you guys like what I made.

Definitely some small edits here and there, but I'd rather get things looking good right away (I guess in a way I have already refined everything, since for almost all graphics I make it's only the second honest attempt that actually looks good). It's also hard to do it objectively, since I've been spending so much time with these graphics that it's tough to tell if a change is for the better.
Either way, there's no large-scale second pass planned, but who knows if the schedule ends up allowing it?

Wow! It doesn't even feel like a smw romhack, it feels like a completely new game... simply impressive! Nice job #smw{:TUP:}
I see a lot of promise on this trailer, WYE! Keep it up!
WYE, you never disappoint. This is as impressive as always and i have no idea how one can put so much dedication into details.
You truly are amazing and no matter how long it'll take until the final version is eventually released, it will be absolutely worth it! #smw{:TUP:}

Thanks again! #tb{:)}

Like last time, I might as well use this as a progress thread while C3 lasts:

World 3's final level, whose first half I showed in the video, is now complete! That leaves only the boss before world 3 is truly done.

Always nice to still see you working on it! Somehow I never expect it and somehow you still always post some new material and surprise me.

Don't know if this has been asked before (and can't read all posts because I'm laaaate), but are you planning to also give Mario the different outfits from your title screen in-game? Like having him wear trunks in a summer level or a jackt in a winter level? That would probably be quite a bit of work to accomplish, but a really cool touch for the hack! Always kinda hoped to see that as soon as I saw the title screen of the hack.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
Thanks! This will probably the last chance for me to reply before the C3 forum closes too, so good timing on that question.

Yep, that's the plan! As an easter egg, anyway, much like capless Mario in NSMBWii. I wasn't going to do that originally, but the title screen does set up an expectation, and it would be really cool to have either way.
