What does generic really mean? (in terms of level design)

for me it sounds like it's something 'that could have been generated by an AI' like, nothing with much soul. is that right?

strangely, the internet won't really give me an answer (or i'm too dumb to find one)
I think that's a good way to explain it really. Generic when it comes to level design would be seeing something that could honestly be found in any game in the same genre.
