R.I.P. BrawlBRSTMs3 X

Good evening here, I'm gonna tell you about the death of a YouTube channel that used to be special to my heart. BrawlBRSTMs3 X was a channel for music extensions and now that it's closed, many of its viewers won't be able to listen to extended versions of remixes for various themes they know and love. Also, looking for music extensions won't be as easy as then.

Shame they didn't care about a bunch of less known games while listening to their music is a good opportunity for anyone to find out about some of the games they didn't hear of.

What went wrong? They removed music original to Nintendo and they wanted their fans to understand that Brawl don't want any copyright infringement anymore. Why did YouTube have to kill this channel?

What? What happened to that channel? Did it get deleted from YouTube? If so, why?

Click the character on the right side of my layout to visit my Discord server and discuss and play and look at and get updates and sneak peeks of the games and other things I'm making.

The authors of these 2 My Little Pony fan games have removed their games from the Internet.
Rise of the Clockwork Stallions has been updated! Download My Little Pony: Rise of the Clockwork Stallions DX: Director's Cut and My Little Pony: Magic Shards now! Spread this link!

I saw that and that fucking sucked! I was literally listening to some Final Fantasy 7 music when that happened. Now it's going to be much harder to find extensions of video game music in general. Thanks Youtube.

This is getting more and more stupid, but if someone does perverted stuff on YouTube or Twitch sometimes then that's okay.
I don't understand why we can't just listen to the music on YouTube when there's no OST floating out there, besides in the sound test.

Does this mean I'll have to take down all my SMW hack videos on YouTube now?

It's so shitty that they're taking down videos that have been up for EIGHT FUCKING YEARS! #smw{-_-2}

I hope not. Hack videos on my channel get the lion's share of the views. If my channel gets axed because of them, where will I put videos of my hack progress in the future? Kinda ambivalent about the whole loss of extended game music thing as it's actually a hindrance when queuing up game music on the music bot on Discord.

As long as you're adding commentary or using footage with modification Nintendo shouldn't go after you the problem with BrawlBRSTMs3 X was they just hosted music without modification.

Well, that's a good occasion for other music extenders to get more famous. They'd celebrate if their channels had as many views on their videos as BrawlBRSTMs3 X.

I don't see why Nintendo have to take down videos just for their stupid music. Wouldn't that be a good form of advertisement for their games? They aren't musical artists who wouldn't make money if their entire music was open-source, they're a freaking video game company. If someone hears of them thanks to the music, the same person might feel obliged to learn about their new games and purchase them. Business.

As for perverted stuff, it shouldn't be tolerated on a site that can be visited by everyone, just like inclining to drink alcohol, be violent or hateful towards certain groups of people (e.g. LGBTQ or black people). Pedophilia takes a cake most. It all is okay so long as a YouTuber or Twitch user doesn't get recognizable enough.

And OST CDs. I can't see why those exist if video game companies earn money on games already and most people listen to it for free.

Hopefully not. Just like majorly inappropriate stuff, it was about time Brawl became popular and eventually got shut down. They mostly focused on music from major video games - including Nintendo's products - and that's how they became popular. They decided to remove Nintendo VGM from their channel in order to abide to the guidelines on Nintendo's website, so their channel can stay, however it wasn't enough. They'd been notorious for infringements on Nintendo until they made the decision.

AFAIK, offering gameplay footages of Nintedo games is fine so long as you don't monetize it. However, you can make business on commentated stuff and other forms of creative contribution.

Gonna drop this here: You may monetize your videos and channels using the monetization methods separately specified by Nintendo

The main line I'm going to point out is as followed.

We encourage you to create videos that include your creative input and commentary. Videos and images that contain mere copies of Nintendo Game Content without creative input or commentary are not permitted. You may, however, post gameplay videos and screenshots using Nintendo system features, such as the Capture Button on Nintendo Switch, without additional input or commentary.

But that is not a 100% we won't touch your vids cause of this.

You can read through the whole thing and learn more but the main point is you're allowed to post content from Nintendo including trailers and Directs only if you provide creative input.
Been a while since I last read the guidelines. You can upload any video or image with creative input or commentary, but you can post anything without creative input or commentary only when that was recorded using Nintendo system features such as Capture Button on Nintendo Switch.

Everybody has mistakes and I'm nevertheless sorry about that.

No need to apologize this new guide only got implemented in November of 2018 and up until then you could only monetize Nintendo content using their creator program.
I admit I was caught a little off-guard when I saw that GilvaSunner's channel was taken down since their uploads seemed innocent enough (they mainly uploaded Nintendo music and up until a few weeks ago Nintendo never seemed to care much about their music being on Youtube), but let's be honest here, Brawl's channel was pretty easy to see coming down a long time ago. Last time I checked, their upload count was significantly past 10,000, so they were bound to piss some copyright holder off somewhere. I'm just super impressed that they managed to get as far as they did in the first place.

I don't care much for the extensions anyway though since it's super easy now to just loop the video in Youtube's player. If downloads.khinsider.com (my main source for VGM downloading) ever goes down, however, then I'll be pretty upset.

I've noticed some spotty emulation there for some songs. Noticeable on the SMB2 character select song, the drum fills kind of blend together on the rip I got while it's pretty easy to hear distinct drum beats on a real console or a better rip.
