Mario Kart 9 (Super Mario Kart Rom Hack)

Hello. I would like to announce that I am now working on a Super Mario Kart Rom Hack.

It'll have 8 modern tracks and 8 classic tracks.

Here's a few screenshots:

Dang it.
I'll try uploading them to Imgur instead.

The third screenshot looks nice overall, but the first and second one need some work especially the first one. Im pretty sure the tracks in Super Mario Kart are twice as long but the first and second tracks look pretty short to my standard.

Well, these tracks are from the Mushroom Cup. I made the Mushroom Cup easy to start off, the Flower cup would be much harder and the Star and Special cups are for retro tracks.

tbh i don't think super mario kart is a good game to hack prolly bcuz the limitations you have

..when mario kart 64 hacking gets better you should probably switch to that.
formerly known as TheBasicASMGuy or TBASMGuy for short. hi.

Well, nah. With EpicEdit, I can edit a lot of things in the game. So, I'm not really limited.

I like the way the WIP is looking so far. Keep up the good work!

Ok. Since the screenshots I provided isn't enough, I decided to release a demo of the hack.

A friend of mine is developing a Super Mario Kart hack, and I wonder if anyone knows a way to enter more karts in the races. We are looking for tools to change the amount of karts on the track.

Thanks for any help.
That... would probably take some serious ASM and retooling how the VRAM data works. There's legitimately only enough room in VRAM for eight karts at max.

However, if one were to remove or alter the minimap icons to be much MUCH smaller maybe to like 16x16 and with some editing, it could handle up to 16 karts on screen at once. Of course.. that's not including the more than likely lag due to all the sprites on screen at once and then there's all the RAM that'd have to update to accommodate for more karts on screen.

It's a lot more work than it may even be worth honestly.

I'm not going to be doing that, this hack will be just new courses, and even battle courses too.

When your tracks are done, then you can think about fancier features for your hack.

Here's one of the MK64 tracks I'm currently working on:

This looks greate, any updates. Need help I been using epic edit for a while and have made my own complete hack as well as improved fixed broken hacks such as Hyper street kart.
I just emailed you.
Looks good, I had been thinking about doing some SMK hacking myself, I was surprised to see quite a few already doing it.
