Erik's ASM Releases: i ran out of references [Day 4 - I made conveyor slopes today]

PatchSpriteBlockSuper Mario WorldResource Release

Agreed, don't see why it shouldn't be released. Seems like it'd have some uses in puzzle levels and Kaizo hacks especially.

Because you guys asked...

I've also fixed a bug with the normal sideways springboard, so please redownload it.

Also,

This was inspired by and the code was adapted from RussianMan's Sequence Platform. Give him credit.

For some reason the two ball and chains' behavior reminds me a bit of the behavior of the Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening boss Slime Eel (specifically, the tail). That sprite is definitely interesting (I'm not sure if I'm gonna use it though), though with the line guided sideways springboard, does it only allow Mario to ride on top of it if the player keeps pressing Left or Right (that is, if the line guide is horizontal)? I might use this one in my hack.

I'd say release it, weird sprites are the best.

While I was reading though the thread this post caught me attention. JP32 resumed pretty well what I was gonna say. Some of the sprites may look weird or unusual and I like these kind of sprites. Unusual and weird ideas fascinate me because they will eventually lead to great level design ideas and I think your sprites will be a pretty cool source for innovative ideas for new levels and sprites, Erik. Great job on everything you have done so far, you are been evolving quite a lot since we talked on the past and you have everything to make even greater stuff on the future! If you need anything from ideas or a more crazy ASM setup I'll be always available for talking and sharing knowledge together.

Keep it up man!

There's so much great stuff in this thread!!
I'm really in love with all those Springboards! They are really interesting takes on the Springboard sprite, and i think they'll certainly make for countless clever ideas and levels!
The Flying Pokey is also really cool!
My Youtube Channel
the Sequence-Controlled Ball 'n' Chain and running around the walls is awesome.
Thanks, guys. #w{<3}

Aye man, thanks for your comment! It's still unbelievable for me how much my ability improved ever since I was promoted to staff and I could barely code.

Anyway, I made this lol I'm getting sick of springboards

i see that you really liked my sequence-rotating platform and made ball 'n chain variant. i like it! And all new springboards look cool too, for all springboard fans!
#w{>=)} nice
Slopes are a pain to work with, but I managed to get this working.

For steep slopes just use vanilla game tiles 1CE to 1D1.

Is that a conveyor slope?
I always wondered if conveyor slopes might be made someday. Great job on them Erik!

How easy or hard would it be for me on my end to make this thing projectile people at hypersonic speeds? lol

It always floors me how you can just keep on crafting sprites like this like it's nothing. I genuinely enjoy this style of sprite - vanilla at heart, but given a unique twist that totally changes how one interacts with the thing (winged, line guided, etc.).

Nice sprites! The line-guided spring is 100% my favorite so far due to how flexible it is (as most line guided sprites are I guess), but I also really like the splitting thwomp.

Flexible, that's the word I'm looking for. Good for becoming a part of a setup without being the whole setup, which is fuel for interesting design. They're also tailor-made for shenanigans if you do know some ASM, like with the splitting Thwomps (personal favorite):

Nowhere to go but up! Thank you for sharing these with us. (And best of luck to you should you decide to keep after those ceiling triangle blocks - I don't care to imagine what a headache those must have been to get to even an alpha state...)

... you know, considering.

(Also, I regrettably couldn't get the beet platform working, it kept crashing when moving four tiles offscreen after spawning. There are non-SA1-hybridized sprite flags under .arLabelA9, but it didn't seem to like LoROM either.)
