I'm asking here cause for some reason nobody's getting my posts over there. Anyway I was wondering about the nitro experience, is it worth the $5 a month?

I can't speak on this particular topic but in my experience, few things are worth 5 dollars a month.

Let's see...

• Do you want to be able to use animated emotes?
• Do you wish that all custom emotes in all servers you are in were global?
• Do you want an animated avatar?
• Do you wish to upload files up to 50 MB to Discord?

If you said yes to at least one of these things, then yeah, I'd say it's worth getting. Now if you're someone like me who has fun with emotes and whatnot to make jokes or for clever reactions, then it's absolutely worth it. Nitro makes Discord x10 more fun for me. I'd actually feel naked without it.

By the way, this is for the $4.99 per month features. The $9.99 per month includes a game library and the ability to Nitro boost Discord Servers. I can't say much about the game library because I haven't touched upon it (if anyone has any preference on that, feel free to share it). Nitro boosting is a fairly new feature, and it allows users to choose their favorite Discord servers to boost for the servers to gain extra features and space for more custom emotes.

Calm down, Mr. passive-aggressive. We've all spent money on silly things, including you I recall you posting in the regret forum thread (edit: oh, WHOOPSIE!) about disliking the fact that you did it multiple times with little figurines.

Now that I'm hearing more about the service, it definitely doesn't seem worth 5 bucks a month, and coming from another dude in the US, during unstable times like these, you can't afford to be throwing money at things like this.

1. its a thread not a forum
2. stop stalking me
3. dont judge me
4. i am calm if i wasnt id be using caps
5. you still ended up agreeing with me w (or rather, we agreed on the same thing)

i just realized you already posted in this thread before (literally 3 posts up) so why did you post again unless it was to single me out #tb{:?}

I don't think Roto-disco is stalking you.
They may have simply seen the reply and thought it would be a good idea to respond.
Though, if this has been happening a lot, things might be different.

Not to derail this thread yet further but this is the probably first time I've directly responded to their behavior, and the second time they've responded directly to me about something or other (the last of which I recall being in the Bar & Grill, I believe). So I'm not sure where the stalking thing comes into play. Unless their trying to make a big story and get me banned for something that didn't happen. Does this happen often on this site? Peeps acting like they're being persecuted and getting a bunch of other people involved attacking the supposed persecutor? They're acting like I consistently berate them or reply to them or respond to them which is far from the truth. Do I regularly respond to topics that they also happen to have responded? Hell yeah (it's a forum). Does that make me a stalker?... If so then we really need to reevaluate the definition of the term 'stalker.'

Because I was sorta blown back by the stalker comment and am offended by the insinuation.

Its worth is proportional to how much time you spend on Discord and how much you would get out of its features. Don't care about emotes (for the $5 tier) or games (for $10)? You won't get much out of Nitro.

I have the $5 tier. Though emotes are not make or break for me, it's easy to rationalize spending a few dollars a month for a service I use all the time. This is why concepts like Patreon exists.

EDIT: immediately after posting I bumped up to the $10 tier to give SMWC its tenth server boost lol
Whether it's worth it or not is really something you should decide for yourself. If you're having fun chatting with online friends and want to enhance your experience, then why not?

My personal answer is nope. The only reason I'm on Discord is because that's where people... are. I still treat it like a forum (check in a couple of times a day and see what's been posted, maybe leave a message myself, then sign off) and rarely do any real-time chatting. (Not that I'm opposed to chatting, it just doesn't happen often with the way I'm using Discord.)

Thanks everyone, but I think I'll pass on upgrading for now. Also, roto-disco how could you say you're not stalking someone...with a pic of Luigi stalking someone xD
Edit: I guess it could be him sitting on a ledge swinging his legs carelessly, but I have my doubts about a middle aged guy that has a secret room in his basement

no shit lol

i just wanted to overreact because i thought itd be funny and i love drama but we never get any which means i have to cause it myself

ontopic: good for you danwallaby you made an excellent choice
I don't think it's worth it in my opinion.
You're basically paying for animated emotes and avatar. Except every other forums before discord had them for free. Why would I suddenly need to pay monthly for them?

Anyway, I guess I should put an actual on-topic response now.

It'd be worth it if you paid only every 2 or 3 months. Honestly, paying monthly for "upgraded emoji powers" is stupid.

you can pay yearly, and its slightly cheaper that way (aka $50 per year rather than $5*12=$60 per year)

Ah, okay then. I might actually consider getting Nitro now.

You're 14 can you afford 50 dollars a year???
Do you have a job at your age?????
Or even a credit card to pay for it on???????

Even then 50 bucks for a few extra emotes and an avatar or whatever? What's the point?

As tantalizing as those features are, I don't consider it to be worth it. Yes, I talk to some of my friends over Discord, but only couple messages per day, usually nothing special.

I mean, what could I do with $5? I could use five bucks for food or some gas for my car.

The features you get for $5 is something I've seen at some forums for free. Not worth it.

Maybe nitro boosting your favorite discord servers might be worth it, but again, not sure if it's worth the monthly investment.

-----------

STELLA!
Discord is just used for international talking by me, and I only joined a limited number of servers (SMW Central, SnesLab, etc.). And I am not really interested in these animated emojis.

So, even I already subscribed various services and some of them are more expensive than Discord Nitro, it's not really worth for me.

(btw my local friends and me are using a self-hosted mumble server for on-gaming chats, which is open-source and our local server providing higher-quality and less delay on voice chatting.)
