Welcome to SMWC, Tiger21820! Great to finally have you among us in the forums. Enjoy your stay and feel free to ask any questions you might have! My PMs are always open!

Hello hello, I'm Yukira, been about here before but only as a lurker since I never managed to be any good at SMW hacking, haha.

I wanted to join since I think this place is still half active and compared to other forums seems pretty reasonable and managed well, no tyrants.

So hi, hope to post around and stuff!

Maybe I'll make a nice layout soon too. :3
Hello, and welcome Yukira! Hope you enjoy your stay!
Hi there everyone!
I've been on SMWC for a while--longer, I've noticed, than many admins have been--but I took a several-year hiatus because I temporarily lost interest in SMW ROMhacks and lacked the confidence to engage with others. Additionally, even when I was active, I think I was rather recondite and reclusive. The closest I had to friends here prior to my return were NovaSquirrel, whom I knew from, uh, elsewhere, and the members of the old IRC channel #chanofice, who at least consistently tolerated my presence.
I've liked SMW since I was very young. That, more than any interest I have in game design or programming, is the reason why I'm here--because I have a history with the game, because I feel connected to it. I hope someday to make a good ROMhack, though I know that day is far away because of my lack of technical expertise.
I'm an undergraduate in college studying philosophy; my hope is to graduate in the fall of 2019. In order to graduate I am going to write a 100-page paper about Heraclitus, a quasi-mystic Greek philosopher whose idiosyncratic ideas have been mostly ignored in favor of the work of Socrates and his students.
I don't know if that's too much, or if it's inappropriate for users to re-introduce themselves here. If either of those are the case I apologize.
Hi, I'm brungl. I've been watching kaizo romhack playthroughs for several years, and a few months ago I decided to try playing one. I'm now on my sixth hack (Akogare Mario World) and I am totally addicted.

At some point I'd like to learn how to port music and design levels in LM, but for now I'll mostly be lurking + watching for new hacks.

A bit late but welcome to the site, brungl! I hope you are enjoying your stay here.

And even more late. Don't know how I missed ya but hope you also are enjoying the site and feel welcomed, Yukira.

Hi, I'm egg. I come from a background of making and playing I Wanna Be The Guy fangames. I recently got into SMW hacks because one of my fangme friends auto-hosts Dode on Twitch. I'd looked into hacks before a few times over the years, but I've never really been very interested in them until recently. I'm not very good at SMW's physics, since I'm used to instant acceleration/deceleration with platforming, but I started playing a few Easy/Medium hacks to get my feet wet, and would eventually like to make a couple of my own hacks (even if Lunar Magic is a looot more intimidating than GameMaker.) From what I've seen, the SMW community is very friendly and welcoming, so I already feel happy to post here :~)

I've tried out Waluigi's Wadventure and Short Mario Adventure already, but if anyone has any recommendations for good beginner hacks, please send them my way!

Have a nice day :~)
Hey, it's been a while since I last showed my face here.

I'm Dan, I've been actively here roughly a year ago and for the longest time I've been maintaining SMWC's YouTube channel before it continued collecting dust again.

Bit weird to be here again, but how is everyone? What did I miss in the world of SMWC?

Dan! How's it been?

There's been lots of site updates, including the addition of alerts and the ability to watch threads.

Lunar Magic 3.0 is a thing now, and people can make their levels and square shaped and even taller than ever!

And also VLDC 11 came and went.

I'm gdrdagamer. After looking at a few creative SMW custom levels on YouTube (such as the infamous "Automatic Mario" ones and other vanilla/chocolate ones), I've decided to drop by here and see what else is in store. I love downloading and playing Super Mario World hacks and I wanted to see what it's like to design a Mario hack of my own.
Sup, I'm Soren. I've been doing Super Mario World hacking on and off in the past three years kinda. I'm interested in developing less restrict(ed/ive) tools for Super Mario World hacking and I'd like to deepen the understanding we have about how this game works. I'm currently working on getting Super Mario World into C using Ghidra.

A bit upset that I missed LM 3 and VLDC 11, but work is work.
Hello friends! I'm Tamaki, and I'm a random person from the Internet.

I've been a lurker for quite a while now, and I got around registering today. I don't really hack SMW, but I like making music for it! A friend of mine is making a hack and he needed music, thus I learned the process at the beginning of the year. I'm not very good when it comes to adapting non-SNES music to Mario though...

I saw a music request thread today, and that's what moved me to register #ab{:P}. Hopefully the requests will help me practice!

Also, to the admins: I'm sorry if I tried to register using a VPN; I live in my university and they have this site blocked... I had to register with my phone using 4G. I hope this doesn't get me in trouble...

Anyways! Hi!
Hello and welcome Tamaki, I hope you will like this website because I prefer to create music and games. Nice to meet you :)

Hello everyone! I am Yui. I just made an account on these forums.

I have been using the resources from here for some time, but I never made an account. I have recently decided to come back into SMW hacking, something I haven't done for many years, so here I am!

My biggest SMW hack attempt was one I started in 2012, after my previous attempt was lost to a computer crash. I called it "84", don't remember why, I probably wanted 84 levels or something like that. It ended up with 19 finished levels and a few unfinished ones.

I'm wondering if I should start new hacks or eventually finish what I started. I want to get back into hacking and possibly even making resources, providing I understand how to do it!

I am pleased to meet you all!
Have been excited for VLDC for quite some time. I got
frustrated when I found out there would be no compilation, since I was wanting to be a part of something.
Welcome, Yui-Drakon! Hope you enjoy SMW hacking once again. LM has been recently updated and you can make tall horizontal levels or wide vertical levels.

Also, I thought that '84' was related to the year 1984 and Big Brother.
I have a Discord server as well! (by joining, you agree to the rules)

Thanks, Emerald Shell! I will definitely check the recent LM update. Tall horizontal levels and wide vertical levels? Oh, I will definitely enjoy it! Now I am very excited! I will probably also need to check out for new tools.

And no, the name "84" isn't related to 1984 or Big Brother, but I did remember this connection some time after naming it. I wonder if it is a good idea or not to show what I made in that hack...

You can show anything you find worth showing. Feel free to spark your creativity and don't feel ashamed to show off during events. If you have any doubts about whether it's good or not, we'll feel free to help you out as well! Good luck!

Hello there, people. I'm alexman25, but you can just call me Alex or AM.

I'm an intermediate ROM hacker, having experience creating hacks for the Metroid series of games.

Working on Metroid: Zero Mission for three years straight gets boring after a while, so I figured the Super Mario series would be a great change of pace and chance to learn something new.

I hope I can stay a while, and be a decent contributor to the community. Happy to meet all of you, and hope we can become friends.
