Things you used to hate that you love now

I looked at some old posts I made here years ago and I had a big hard on for hating on weebs for some reason and thinking western cartoons were superior to anime. Nowadays I'm the complete opposite. I used to not hate, but not really care for mushrooms, now I love them. I like them in my ramens, and hamburgers as well.

When I first learned of the furry community, it really creeped me out. One day, I decided I'd actually look through the posts on r/furry to see what they were really like, and... one thing led to another, and I became the degenerate I am now.

Oh yeah, same kinda. I'm not really a furry as in I have a fursona but I'm okay with a lot of the kemono art out there.

I like kemonomimi art too. But is it really furry art? I don't think it really counts.

Hiphop and rap music. Admittedly, a lot of the rap music coming out in the mid-2000s wasn't great, but I held onto this irrational dislike of the genre for years. These days, I like a lot of classic hiphop and rap music, especially the stuff from the 80s and 90s. There's a lot of good music there, and it's fascinating to listen closely and hear the lyrics. There's a lot of powerful stuff said in those lyrics.
Apple products (iPhone, iPad, MacBook, etc). I was a hater of products produced by Apple (and actually didn't even touch any real Apple products at that time) since I always thought Apple products are expensive and "stupid", and only the
dumbass
users will using Apple products. I thought I was a technology enthusiast at that time so hard.

In 2017, I bought a MacBook Pro for my IRL working needs (because Windows is not really great for some development-related stuff). Then, I suddenly feel Apple products actually have some catchy point and save lots of time on triggering "weird" stuff (though it means you will lose lots of space on customization, too). Then I bought a second-hand iPhone 6S Plus and enjoyed that, too. I also have an interest in the new Mac Mini and AirPods.
I used to despise certain foods, such as bell peppers, asparagus, and onions. I don't even know why, since I never really tasted any of them before. I think I was just afraid of trying new things at the time. But in recent years, I've opened up my taste buds to these veggies and more, which was definitely for the best (Although I still impulsively dismiss eating onions sometimes because of its texture).
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
Drawing. It used to be near impossible to get me to draw or color ANYTHING when i was younger, now i absolutely love it. Granted im still not... great but atleast i enjoy it!

Well, as a teenager, I used to be a "Sony hater" (basically, your stereotypical Nintendo fanboy - praised everything Nintendo did and condemned everything other companies did). It was pretty embarassing, I know. Needless to say, I'm on good terms with Sony nowadays. In fact, I think they're superior to Microsoft and Nintendo in some regards. The PS4 is a pretty great console. I play it rarely, because my Switch and my PC are just a lot more practical for me right now, but it's a nice console nevertheless.

Also used to dislike quite a lot of food that I've grown to like over the years. Used to dislike pickles in most meals, now I often appreciate them and think they add a special something. Also used to dislike sour cream with my fries (or with most food, really), now I love it.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
I used to be quite a picky eater. I thought raw tomatoes (and some other veggies) would be untasty. I could tolerate them in soup, pizza, or spaghetti, though. After some time, I got convinced to ketchup. Later on, I got convinced freshly cut tomatoes on their own can be a really tasty and interesting topping for sandwiches or - yes, you guessed it - pizza. All that complaining about new food was totally unnecessary.

Dang it.

I used to hate fruits and vegetables as soon as I grew up for some reason. That didn't hold true when I was a kid, but now I started liking them again. I am weird when it comes to this stuff.

Ooo, I like this thread idea, some positivity is always good! Hm..

- I used to be really hard on Zelda: A Link Between Worlds because it's really just an easier copy/paste of A Link to the Past, but as I've grown out of video games in general and realized I don't really care much for a balls-to-the-walls challenge in games, I've come to almost prefer it now due to its smoother controls and the fact that it can be beaten in only a couple of sittings.

- I've always preferred instrumental music to lyrical music because I ignore the lyrics but more recently I've started to actually pay some more attention to the lyrics in songs because they sometimes can have some great poetry.

- First person shooters games like COD and such I used to act like I despised despite not having played any of them when I was little, simply because hating those games used to be sort of the "cool" thing to do in communities like this, but after I started playing a few I started to become a fan of them myself.
Twitter
The handomest people in the world are ones who follow my Twitch
Anime. I don't love it exactly, but I like it more now and I don't hate it as much as I did before - it always looked cheap to me and I saw some weird ones as a kid (except of Pokemon, although I didn't watch it often. it ran very early in the morning).
Speaking of Anime, to go deeper, I used to hate Naruto (without seeing it) since I thought it was just normie shit or something like that. which it is, but I didn't think there'd be such good animation in it. I was scrolling twitter and saw a webm of Sasuke and Orochimaru in the forest and went, holy shit, this is some god tier sakuga, then that got me started on watching it. Now it's great to me.
One of them was learning how to drive. I hated it back in the day when I didn't know anything about driving (I felt like I was going to crash any second), but over time, I felt a sense of independence and I felt great. Now I drive my own car almost all the time at around 100mph/160km-h.

I used to really despise newer intellectual trends in the humanities like postmodernism. I saw them as attacks on values that I thought were universal, such as science and the canon of Western thought and literature. Now, through extensive interface with classic texts of Western thought, I have realized that attachment to "universal values" is not only wrongheaded but also contrary to the spirit of precisely the values that I thought were universal.

I also used to dislike anime. Watching anime has, of course, made me really like a lot of anime--Trigun and Neon Genesis Evangelion are probably the most enjoyable experiences I've had with TV/film. My favorite thing peculiar to anime is how much anime seamlessly fuses thematic depth with entertainment value relative to American entertainment. Much of American TV/film is either all about making a point about politics or society or what have you, or pure mindless sex and violence. That's not to say that American entertainment is strictly inferior: in particular I think that American/western entertainment is on the whole more socially subversive than that of Japan. But it's also nice, as in Trigun and Neon Genesis Evangelion, for the deeper themes to not come at the expense of the more visceral experience of enjoyment and excitement.

I have an odd relationship with hip-hop. I used to think, probably like most white people, that it was base and vulgar. Since then, I've come to see it as a unique expression of social consciousness, even the stuff that isn't overtly political. Nevertheless, I still don't enjoy listening to it or relate to it in any kind of profound way. If anything the realization that it embodies a unique social consciousness has made me more averse to actually listening to it and appreciating it. While the spirit of rap music is one that I can respect from a distance, it's fundamentally not "for me". It's for other people, and it speaks in a language quite unlike mine.
Calm/Classical music. As a teenager I didn't listen to a lot of music and a lot of people I knew from school would listen to electronic or otherwise equally loud music and I started associating calm music to be lesser or somehow less cool. Not that I have started to hate electronic music all the sudden, but calm music certainly has made me feel happier over the last few years in a way I wouldn't have predicted all those years ago.
-Chili. No idea how I managed to hate it when I was much younger
-Barbecue sauce
-Pickled beets. Well, I don't "love" them and they're still kinda uncomfortable to eat, but I can actually wolf them down with a good attitude about it compared to when I was much younger.
-Mustard
-Burgers at fast food restaurants that have onions and ketchup
-Sudoku, once I learned how to not rely on trial and error
-Running
-Roller coasters and carnival rides that turn you completely upside down. Actually I don't think it was so much that I hated them as I would actively avoid them cuz of fear of motion sickness (which later turned out to be irrational)

I don't really hate chili itself, I just despise beans. Of any kind. I hate beans. Coffee beans included. They taste like ass and the texture is even worse. I hate the taste of coffee, too. Except coffee cake.
