What book are you currently reading?

At the moment I have Alexa (Amazone Echo) read me To Kill a Mockingbird from Audible. I bet most of you know it. Published 1960 and awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

I've had a gander at those stories in the past. They're quite strange and depressing, with a weird uncle.

I actually just got finished reading a SPECTACULARLY VIOLENT book by Richard Bachman called 'The Regulators.'

Basically, the premise of the book is that there is this small neighbourhood somewhere in Wentworth, Ohio, whose residents have their whole world fall apart around them as they enter this strange virtual reality simulation of sorts that is a combination of both a popular children's comic/television show, and old western drama.

It's an extremely good book. But I warn you again. It's wildly violent.

I am currently reading manga book and I read feng qi cang lan manga and mangazuki has some soft manga but feng qi cang lan manga has some pretty gore scenes too tho.
Warriors-A Vision of Shadows: The Raging Storm. The way this whole arc was written, it could have feasibly been resolved by the 5th book. But of course each arc has to be 6 books long. Tho I'm still kinda compelled anyway just cuz of ShadowClan.
Tigerheart has become leader, so his name is now Tigerstar, which is also the name of the villain of the first series. So far it seems like the authors are teasing the reader about whether Tigerstar 2.0 will be anything like the old Tigerstar, or if they'll add an amendment to the Warrior code that states that any cat with "Tiger" as the first half of their name is automatically barred from becoming deputy.

Since I feel like the only person that hasn't read the Harry Potter series, I am reading it. I am on the first one, The Sorcerer's Stone. Reading these kinda makes me want to rewatch the movies, which I haven't seen in years.
I often read stories to relax on 365manga.net
Recently began reading The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln by Stephen L. Carter.
At first I was apprehensive because I was wondering how one could possibly create an alternate history novel where Lincoln survives the attempt on his life but is ultimately thrown into an impeachment trial because of crimes he allegedly committed during the Civil War. But I am actually really enjoying it so far! I'll try to provide a more a detailed review when I finish (if I remember or care by then).

Warriors The Broken Code: The Lost Stars. I like how they're unable to contact StarClan now. Poor Bristlefrost got friendzoned, and they're possibly in the middle of a polar vortex. Also, Tree reminds me of a hippie. If the Erins cared more about being accurate to cat biology, probably none of the characters would care about the concept of monogamous relationships.

I'm not a reader person. I went out alone with no goals and ended up buying myself a book. After lurking in the book store and some reflection, I realised I may be a mystery, horror and sci-fi guy, so I bought something from the only author whose name I recognised who writes that stuff, Stephen King. The book is Outsider. After one day I'm almost halfway through it and needless to say, I'm not disappointed so far.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
I am currently reading The Hour of the Star. It's a fascinating book (so far) written by nobody less than Clarice Lispector a few months before she passed away. And I'm reading it not only for studying purposes, but due to feeling the need of doing something that makes me go out of my comfort zone. I really need to go out and find more books like this to kill time.

I am currently reading the book Money by Martin Amis. The book decribes the life of John Self, a man who experiences every aspect of the twentieth century. Self is working on a film in which all of the actors have an issue related to the part they have to play. I am slightly over halfway through the book and have enjoyed it so far. (The only gripe I have with the book is that it is overly descriptive when it comes to "adult content".)
Love Lies and Hocus Pocus: Identity by Lydia Sherrer, the latest in an urban fantasy series that anyone who reads Harry Potter would probably also like. The series features lighthearted snarky humor, a talking cat, intense climaxes and sub-climaxes, and a deuteragonist with a dark and troubled past.
The hype was aided by the fact that the previous installment ended on a cliffhanger, and it's also zetta long compared to the previous installments.

Okay so remember in the "New Years resolutions" thread when I made that post about reading Great Gatsby in it? Well now I have. The fact that we're in the 20's again felt like an excuse. I had to read it way back when in high school and pretty much paid next to no attention to it because English class was just too boring. Kinda wanna tell my younger self that the somewhat confusing love dodecahedron that eventually built up to a climax is anything but boring, and for some reason the description of
Myrtle's death
was funnier than it should have been.
Specifically where it said her breast was swinging loose like a flap.

The ending is downright depressing.
