So many Kaizos

But if you want to look for kaizo of all instances or all non-kaizo hacks regardless of their difficulty, mods do really need to fix the filters so you have a multiselect list or a set of checkboxes for difficulty. No idea how come neither developer did implement this right after it had been mentioned.

Alright, you know what, to make this easier, I suggest a petition.
A petition to change the dropdown to either a multiselect list or set of checkboxes as has been talked about before. It seems that it would solve most of the problems that everyone has complained about on here.

Any word from the staff on this?

My post was a suggestion, but if people want it to be implemented it's better to ask staff by making a thread in Site Questions, Feedback & Bugs
This is an interesting thread, you see the reason why kaizo is beginning to gain more popularity is (in my opinion) due to the fact that games such as mario maker and it losing popularity, and websites such as YouTube/Twitch are spreading the word on what kaizo is, this means that newer creators like me are beginning to experiment with new mediums to develop kaizo in, personally I really enjoy adventure hacks myself and want to develop one someday too but I don't see the trend of the growth of kaizo stopping anytime soon.
The next reason why kaizos are popular is that worldpeace released reset system the hacks benefit from. They're a lot more encouraging to play kaizo light toolless than just the infinite amount of lives as you don't have to wait until the death animation ends and select the same level where you had died once again.

That's very true. Any slightly difficult kaizo light level becomes quite tedious without the retry-patch. If you want to practice a stage and how to avoid its traps, re-entering the level after every single try is quite bad for your concentration compared to retrying the level directly again. I think without the retry-system kaizohacks would´ve become way less popular, because without retry-patch they would be way less fun / more tedious.

Off topic, but dammit Sariel your display name REALLY threw me off. I thought your were Wakana but then I looked at your 'location' haha. #smrpg{haha}

The retry patch is certainly helpful. Although I still like to try a kaizo light hack tool-less without the patch once in a while just for that good ol' SNES feeling (and then get blindly pissed off not long later).

Wow, this discussion is just so dumb

And yet you're here...|-O
Here's a hot take

I read like, 3 comments on this thread.... but...

kaizo (good) hacks require skill... hacks with a story require.... actually caring about a story?

Kaizo hacks are almost like a sport, whereas hacks with a story...are hacks that exist

(not taking anything away from the time or skill it takes to create such hacks, and of course its totally cool for everyone to have their own tastes)

It's almost like the kaizo style hacks are more 'sporty' and the story style hacks are more.... like playing magic the gathering in a basement. #fim{:P} #fim{:P} #fim{:P} #fim{:P} #fim{:P} #fim{:P}
The people complaining about too many kaizo hacks, please stick to this thread and don't pollute the comment section of the kaizo hacks saying "again a Kaizo" blablabla. Nobody forces you to play them and with a bit of thinking, you'd realize a kaizo hack doesn't take the place of a non-Kaizo hack, it just adds a hack.

I've seen it on Grand Poo World 2.
I find it quite unbearable. If those people don't like Kaizo hacks, ok, live your life like it doesn't exist. To actually make the move to go on Kaizo hack pages to say that is very disturbing and shows how much these people just want to complain and live a life surrounding themselves with things they dislike just to be able to complain.

That's just stupid, why get upset because of a difficulty?
Just have fun
Everything i read lately turns into kaizo hate..

like that "most hacks are meh" (or something like that).. that topic quickly was turning into a kaizo hate topic.
I myself do not like Kaizo-ish hacks (my favourite difficulty is hard-very hard), but I don't see how it's bad to have a good influx of kaizo hacks on the site. In fact, I think that the kaizo community is a big part of the site. Just let people design hacks the way they want it to be.
That sounds like just blind hate for no reason. Am I alone on this? Maybe if we let people have fun and mind their own business rather than going all "ugh", then everything would be better.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
In a way I sort of think we're 'feeding the trolls' by even justifying their hateful viewpoint with responses.
We would do better to ignore them, I'd think. Let this little anti-kaizo organization that's developed fade back into obscurity.

Sounds like a protest agains kaizo hacks.

I'm myself not really a kaizo player/fan, but I always appreciated creativity usually found in them, hell, I even made a kaizo hack myself. Twice. Thrice. Ok, maybe I am a little into kaizo.

What I want to say - dismissing them is absurd, they're like a part of history, that you can't just remove. You don't like kaizo hacks? Nobody forces you to play them. Being openly aggressive about them won't help situation, and people will continue making kaizo hacks, no matter what, as long as there's people who like kaizo. It's like dismissing those simple run'n jump-type hacks and simple vanilla hacks. There's always people who like those styles of hacks. If you don't like them, that's okay. People are different and have different tastes. But openly posting hate on them sounds like a discrimination.
Maybe it's true that kaizo hacks have a limited audience, but you can't deny that even if you're not someone who can play kaizo hacks without loads of save-states and rewinds, it's still amazing to look at the level designs just to see how utterly cruel some people can be.

Yeah, not long ago it was forbidden to criticize hacks and be negative towards them, but it seems like all that went out the window. Definitely not for the best.
