Ah, alright, that makes sense. I'll admit, I don't know all that much about this sort of thing. So the stuff I ask might be basic, and I apologize if that's annoying.

Also, should've known that was Koakuma. Man, I need to brush up on my Touhou lore #smrpg{:3}.

Anyway, thanks for answering my questions! And yeah, I thought you might appreciate me saying the game's awesome #tb{;)}!

Agreed. I only got into the series a few months back (thanks to this site and the many songs I heard (especially Positive & Negative ver. 1 and Septette for the Dead Princess... U.N. Owen was her? doesn't count)).

Oh hey, something else I'm wondering about, that's maybe tangentially related, but I'm wondering all the same: you got any cute pics of Wakana? I ask cause I rather like her design.

Also, I'm curious how you did the Who Wants to be a Millionaire level ("J. Scotty Presents..." I believe it's called?). Since it's so different from the rest of the game, I mean.

Also also, I'm wondering how you made it so the "The Nightmare *gibberish*" level includes a glitchy simulacrum of the title screen and a dark intro stage and map screen and such. Cause if I didn't know better, I'd never guess that was all one level!

Aside from the ones in the hack made by Skewer (the one in titlescreen and the one in stage clear screen), there are none of them, aside from like 2-3 fan arts people did of her in Twitter, and some early concepts of her drawn by me when I was younger, which are bad and I don't feel like sharing them (I even lost them, I think, lol).
And no, the avatars I use aren't pics of Wakana. They''re either recolors or pics of girls which resemble her (I often pick Suzuya from Kancolle, like the one in my Twitter, or Kochiya Sanae, like the one in my YT).

These levels have a few parts mixed together:
- The cursor is a sprite you can find in the sprites section. I used Romi's version, and edited its code a lot so that the buggy diagonals movements didn't happen, and I had to add some code to make it slower on a button press, like the Touhou focus mode (the cursor and the undertale heart are the same sprite btw);
- Clicking on the questions is pretty much custom blocks made by me: if a button is pressed while being inside the block, do something (in this case, die on wrong question, teleport on screen exit if correct). Questions are also randomized (in the build submitted in the site): each question is picked out of 4 possible ones; everything is decided by the frame counter, which is the less annoying pseudo-random value I could think of.
- Graphics are just rips taken with the tool SNESPNG. For the level structure, I made sure you couldn't die from pressing the cursor against the edges of the screen. This issue happened in previous betas. Obviously, it has been fixed with appropriately custom blocks, coded by me as well.

Side note, the "J.Scotti" part of the title stands for Jerry Scotti (or Gerry Scotti), which is the italian showman who presented and did questions in the italian "who wants to be a millionaire".

That one level there is indeed an entire level. All you see is a mix of ASM pretty much. The "creepy overworld" is actually a pic ripped with SNESPNG again, and the walking Wakana is a 16x16 tile which is on layer 1 (overworld is on layer 2). Deaths are also fake, since true deaths would bring you to the true overworld. With asm, I made deaths teleport you on the fake map instead.

This.
Hey, I haven't played many hacks but I decided to play this one on a whim today, it's actually really good and I'm enjoying it so far, I'm having a lot of fun with it and the difficulty isn't too hard for me.

I'd just like to ask a quick question regarding Old Tower, I beat it before getting the hidden exit and now I'm unable to replay the level. I also beat the Light Palace without getting all 4 coins so I can get that weird flame thing and can't replay that either. I'm not sure if those flame things impact my ability to get 100% in the future, but the Old Tower definitely does. I've played further and as far as I know it's the only castle type level that has this problem

Also running the game in Retroarch on the Bsnes balanced core and using Super Wakana Land 2.1 patch, just to let you know.

Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot to me.

Don't mind about the 100% when missing WakaCoins or the flames in the temple places: WakaCoins only make you stronger (by recovering MPs faster), while the flames you see in temples just cap your MPs at 99.
Destroyed towers and castles can be re-entered again by pressing L+R on the overworld, just like in the original SMW.

Ooooh okay thanks. I didn't know about that trick from SMW, I never really had a pressing need to explore beaten towers and as I said, kinda new to playing hacks.

As for WakaCoins, I knew about the MP recovery, but so far as I knew the flames only show up in the two palaces I've visited thus far so I thought they were a secret collectible of some kind (especially since they're at the end of the levels and protected by the 4 Wakacoin blocks). Good to know I'll still be able to get all exits without them

EDIT: Just beat the last level of the main game and it's been quite a ride, frankly an amazing hack throughout. I just got a couple of questions...

I've found most of the secrets on my own without a walkthrough with the exception of the alternate exit in Hot Hot Desert (This one I found in Lordkronos100's LP), the lewd secret in Vile Laboratories 2, and the
hidden boss in Adventure Starts that's mentioned in one of the reject logs. Does this have something to do with the purple triangle in the SMWC hub?

Mainly I'd just like a hint on where the lewd secret in Vile Laboratories 2 is, if you don't mind.
I've ascended to Lewd World so I have the full password for that, but would still like to see what the secret is

One last thing, I completed all 6 levels in the Star Warp world. Is there supposed to be some sort of reward or level unlocked for doing so, or is it just the satisfaction of having completed them? Thanks Wakana. Seriously, your hack is pretty amazing, on par with something you'd find on the Genesis back in the day or a modern indie game.

Explore around after you pressed the first Red P-Switch of the level.

In previous versions of the game, you had to complete all of them in order to access a distorted level. Since this created messes in the OW, I scrapped the idea. Said distorted level is the one you see in version 1.0
getting the secret exit of the very first level.

The distorted level has been removed in 2.1, since people hate how it was hidden, and also for rom space issues (again, had to sacrifice some content in order to create freespace for other fixes people addressed me).

Yes, in version 2.1, reaching 69 exits means you completed the game.
The creepy level part you saw is from version 1.0, which was rejected because it didn't fit SMWC's standards. You can nonetheless download it from the link in the first post of this thread.
Thank you, also, for the kind words. I'm really happy you enjoyed the game!

It's the Abstract Map theme of VLDC9's ost, which you can find here.
Obligatory haven't finished it yet but am really enjoying it.

The difficulty is definitely more out of my comfort zone, but I don't hate playing it. Especially with all the separate paths and hidden goodies thrown in. I always love me some good exploration. The ancient temple was a HUGE difficulty spike (more like a i'm-gonna-make-a-really-hard-part-after-a-long-easy-part spike). I'm guessing that was intentional, but I'm hoping it gets made a little less infuriating. I can't remember if the Undercaves is a shortcut or not.
Besides that, it's been a fun, sometimes a little frustrating experience so far. I'm probably not going to get all the exits, though (just typing that made my stomach hurt).

...
It's almost midnight. I should probably stop playing for today and get some rest.

The game isn't supposed to be for everyone in terms of difficulty. The first half is doable by anyone, but as you get further, difficulty increases a lot. I can understand why you wouldn't be up 100%ing it. Earlier versions were even rougher with difficulty.
welp, i guess here I go play the hack again
