Two new ports + an updated port

MusicResource Release

Well, last C3, I showed off ports I made of Adoration of Magic and Fantasy Corridor... which I still haven't submitted to the music section thanks to school and overall laziness. This C3, I have two more ports, both of which I made in the past 2 weeks because of, once again, school and laziness. These are my third and fourth completed ports, so feedback is very much appreciated, about everything!

(I also have an almost complete port of Targets! from Melee, but there's a lot of cleaning up left to do in it, and a barely started port of Wind Circulation ~ Wind Tour from Touhou 9.5. I'll finish them eventually...)

Wario Land: Shake It! - Stonecarving City
I listened to the Smash 4 OST a lot while hyped for Ultimate, and this song was stuck in my head.

Magical Astronomy - Satellite Café Terrace
The Touhou Music CDs need some love. This song was weird to port because most of it is incredibly repetitive (99 label loops lol), and then there's that one section with zero repeats and very strange note lengths. I'm happy with how it turned out though.
EDIT: I should probably mention that since it's a song that does not normally loop, I kind of improvised a fitting loop point... feedback on that would be appreciated too.

SEE BELOW FOR A VERSION WITH ECHO

Hopefully this time, I won't take 6 more months to submit everything oops

Happy listening!

EDIT: I just tried adding echo to two of my ports, and here's the result:
ZUN's Strange Works - Fantasy Corridor (from last C3)
I think the echo really contributes to the dreamy feel of the song.

And here's Stonecarving City with the strings changed

Hey, both of them sounds good, though I liked Satellite Café Terrace more. Good job #smrpg{y}

These may be only two ports, but their quality is definitely decent. I also tried to port a Touhou song, but i quitted, since it became too difficult for me. So good job for porting theSatellite Café Terrace one. Since it takes about 3 minutes until it reaches its loop this must have required lots of endurance! I hope one day i can tackle touhou songs, too, but until then i listen to lovely ports like yours. #w{=3}

Stonecarving City is a really good track from Wario Land, good thing you ported this one #w{=)}
Thanks for the kind words everyone, it means a lot! #smrpg{<3}

Yes and no, reaching the loop point isn't so difficult since a lot of note patterns repeat themselves, but cleaning everything up, and especially the section starting at 1:40 took a bit more effort, especially getting the piano notes to be off-rhythm to each other, but not to the other instruments. Overall, it took me about 3-4 days for this port.

Also, I was messing around with echo this morning (I've got to say, you inspired me, Sariel, because of how much the echo added to the quality of your ports), so here are updated versions of Satellite Café Terrace and Fantasy Corridor (from last C3):

Awww, i never imagined to be someone's inspiration~ Thank you so much for these lovely words! #smrpg{<3}
I agree with you, that the echo improved these ports (especially the former). In porting adding few commands can make a huge difference to the result. I've learnt this as well.

I really like what you did here and i wish you best of luck with your future ports, too! #smrpg{y}

First off, let me compliment for the general quality your ports have, despite you're relatively new to porting.
I gave a listen to all of them, here's what I can say:

Wario Land: Shake It! - Stonecarving City
This one isn't bad. Perhaps I'd lower #1's volume when it plays together with #0 using the @14s. I'd give a proper ADSR to the strings playing in #5 and #6, since you barely hear them, even with headphones on.
Lastly, maybe the main melody channels could benefit from Izun-echo, try it out maybe.

Magical Astronomy - Satellite Café Terrace
Some feedback of the first applies here too: strings would sound better if they used a proper ADSR with very slow relase (something like $FA$E2). In the fastnotes part with all the @9, I'd suggest using something else for the channels that aren't supposed to use the same sample as the "main pianos". Saying this because there are sudden volume jumps, due to the fact sometimes the same note is played in more channels.
Lastly, a trick I feel like giving for your future percussion channels: ignore rests. Rather than @29c4 r8, always go for @29c4., since in the former case, it feels like the percussion gets cut midway while playing.
Aside all this, you're very brave, if you attempted this kind of port already looks at fastnotes...
And yes, echo can do wonders, so experiment more with it!

Fantasy Corridor
Copypaste what I said about ADSR. But overall, this song isn't too bad. Maybe, lower @4s' volumes, since they're kinda loud compared to the overall volume going of the song.

For all three songs: you should try playing with panning (yXX). Panning can help making your song sound less mono.

Keep practicing, I look forward listening to your future ports! #tb{^V^}
Thanks for the comprehensive feedback, it really helps a lot!

Time for another round of updates

I didn't add Izun-echo yet, but I did increase the volume of the strings and ADSR them, and it already sounds better. Picking the instruments is weird overall since in the actual song, all the instruments sound saw-y.

Once again, I ADSRed the strings, and though it's subtler, it does make the song dreamier. $FA$E2 was a bit weird, specifically because of the inconsistent string note length. It worked well for long notes, but it made some parts sound much emptier since shorter string notes just cut off before any sound played. I used $75$A2 instead, which works with both. Also, I eliminated the rests in the percussion, but I don't think it made that much of a difference for this port. That being said, I'm working on a port of Can't Sleep Because It's Nighttime (another long but repetitive song lol why do i keep doing this), and I think it'll really help there since I'm using a clap sample. The pan command might help there too depending on what I decide to do with the echo. I tried messing with the pan for Satellite Café Terrace, but breaking up chords that way made them sound bad. Or should I have been trying to pan the bass/strings/background notes instead?
