Just back here to browse a bit.
Goombas...

awww... oh well. i like it

Its kinda funny the way I made the goombas walk.
Bored2tears, have you even played his demo? -_-
No. But i was saying it would be funny. Its like shapes!

Actually that is probably a good idea to inform the player of all of the weird looking gadgets, enemies and other obstacles in Mario's way since they look oh so different from the original game. As for a falling Tetris thing, that would probably be very easy especially if one of the cave levels has the sinking sand-bar that will crush Mario. Then again, it might be better to use a Panel De Pon or Tetris Attack garbage block(s) to look more accurate.

Keep gaming on!
I am not a hacker by trade, I am an observer and I can be very observant. I tend to lurk around here to prolong the good experience of playing the original SMW. Whatever can add onto it is something that I will definitely do when I am bored which is often. And I will rarely post and give praise when needed to the hacks that may make me interested to relive memories.

My worst enemy in Mario isn't Bowser but my controller that keeps on getting disconnected from the inside. Might be my memory count.
Its really common sence to avoid jumping on any enemies that are spiky, but I know what you all mean with just having to work with tetris blocks the enemies can get confusing. Maybe this hack is more for experienced Super Mario World players that know the enemies and how they move/act.

Im currently adding custom music, its fun and a great final touch...
Come to think of it, Brutal Mario had a level with falling Tetris blocks.
I bought a cactus. A week later it died. And I got depressed, because I thought, Damn. I am less nurturing than a desert. -Demetri Martin.

Agreed, but how can you tell(even an experienced SMW player) somebody that that pile of blocks is a goomba? It is especially confusing when so many enemies can be alike, and/or react the same ways. What is there to make a player think that a goomba and a koopa outside of its shell are not a spiny and a swooper?

You are right about the experienced part, but then again you did put in message boxes that describe what to expect. I really wonder what the custom music will be, perhaps a tune from Arkanoid I wonder?

Hopefully it wont be too hard...You just have to take it slow, observe the enemies, see if you can tell what they are...then attack, or avoid if they have spikes...

Or perhaps I should make a "Museum" type level at the beginning like in Yoshis Island DS where you can observe the enemies, and they are blocked off from hurting you.

Hm, Arkanoid music? Maybe...A lot of custom music Im inserting I dont even know where they are from, except for Tetris music of course. I just pick them because they fit the setting of the level.
Here's an idea: change enemy colors so people can tell. No need to stick with the Tetris colors, right? You've already strayed from the Tetris colors for the background.

I just dont know what to do with the OW yet so Im keeping it unedited for the fixed demo 1, I'll change it for sure on the demo 2 release If I ever get that far...
Would it be possible for you to create a patch that we can put on your previous demo?

I dunno, has that been done before?
I don't know. I wouldn't have asked if it was possible if I knew...

Good move(though I rush into levels without even thinking sometimes). The wings to an enemy does indicate a little bit of difference, but still........at least it will scream out "unlike all of the other hacks, this hack is so different that it is abstract art to even look at it".

"Or perhaps I should make a "Museum" type level at the beginning like in Yoshis Island DS where you can observe the enemies, and they are blocked off from hurting you."

That would be very nice, like some of those Kirby games where every enemy is boxed in. Perhaps boxes to explain them like a zoo. For example a sign next to a box indicates: Cheep cheep, he swims in water, cannot touch.

There would be a very good challenge if someone makes it through the whole entire game without pondering. Almost everything looks the same anyways, but the museum shouldn't be a bonus after completing everything in the game.

"Hm, Arkanoid music? Maybe...A lot of custom music Im inserting I dont even know where they are from, except for Tetris music of course. I just pick them because they fit the setting of the level."

Since Ark. music is so relative and since the games are so relative to Tetris I was just suggesting that. It would be interesting to hear the Tetris theme music on the title screen with all kinds of blocks falling down as custom sprites. Why aren't Mario and Yoshi, Tetris blocks anyways?

The story of the hack is Dinosaur Land was taken over by a strange Tetris looking overlord and he captured the Princess (Of course.) Mario and Yoshi were unchanged for unknown reasons, so they have to stop this...I wouldn't want to change Mario or Yoshi into a block either, things would be too confusing.

Good idea, changing Mario and Yoshi into Tetris blocks would be too weird(imagine a red group of blocks on a green group of blocks). In fact, it would seem perfectly logical as an alternative to turning everything into stone, so that is great. Do you know what the overload would be called?

I've got a suggestion, King Tet(instead of King Tut). I see a lot of promise and potential, maybe a puzzle to get rid of Tet, or lots of ledges, and platforms, afterall Mario is platforming so there is a lot of potential. If there was a way to have it like a real Tetris game where you push a bunch of fire barrels to create a line to destroy King Tet? Naah

Perhaps Mecha Koopas all in a line, or something involving Mecha Koopas and their ability to destroy King Tet. There is a lot of stuff to do. I hope that this hack is as great, and as thrilling, as it sounds.
