The 5th Non-Annual VGM Tourney Holiday Special (Finals)

Other Contest/EventResults

Undertale - Another Medium
Batman is good but I still prefer this.

ChainDive - Movin' On (Stage 1)
Pretty groovy

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim - Release of the Far West Ocean
This sounds like it would fit right into Touhou. nice. Really a matter of personal preference between this and Sonic.

Deltarune - Field of Hopes and Dreams
I forgot Deltarune had good songs too
I wish Undertale wasn't such an internet fad. If it weren't I'm pretty sure the motif would give me the chills just like Earthbound. Not Toby's fault though.
The other song is good too, for what it is.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
i/ dark studio - boring standard nes music vs lol undertale vs actually good music HMMMMMMMMM
ii/ movin on - both pretty generic but this is the good kind of generic where the other is... not that
iii/ release of the far west ocean - kirby being nostalgic doesnt make it tourney level good, sonic cd is boring. there are way better ys songs but good enough to satisfy my falcom craving
iv/ ludwig the holy blade - they both suck and i didnt want to vote but i guess for the sake of trying to kill undertale2 here (edit: ok the part at 3:09 is actually dope i stand by my vote)
soundcloud / bandcamp / twitter / buy/stream my EP / buy my touhou music / buy my NEW album!!!
-I-
The Adventures of Batman & Robin - Dark Studio

-II-
ChainDive: Movin' On (Stage 1)
(I so wanted to vote for the other one just because everybody else was voting for this one and I'm That Bitch, but both are generic in their own way. This one just happened to work a little better)

-III-
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim - Release of the Far West Ocean
(Thought this one was gonna be close considering the first track I listened to was the Sonic one, but damn I actually really enjoyed this one. Nice and intense)

-IV-
Deltarune - Field of Hopes and Dreams
(I know people are gonna meme about this being undertale: the sonquel so it's automatically gonna win despite not being good, but fuck you this track really hits. The other track isn't bad, but it's not the type of orchestral shit I vibe with),
The Adventures of Batman & Robin - Dark Studio
Tracks that begin slow but gradually pick up are some of my favorites, and this one is no exception

ChainDive - Movin' On (Stage 1)
Not too hot on the other one honestly.

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim - Release of the Far West Ocean
I was torn on choosing between the three, but I decided to go for this one, as much as the other two are good

Deltarune - Field of Hopes and Dreams
(tfw I didn't know this was a sequel to Undertale)
Sounds like a track I would listen to over and over. I really enjoyed it. Bloodborne is pretty chill and intense too.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
one more person vote so we can break the tie #smrpg{sad}

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - One They Fear
OFF - minuit a fond la caisse

--------------
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock (no contest)
A 76 year old Japanese Man - Imagine
Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag (kinda close, mambo was fun but this song had a bit more going on and was pretty cute)
OFF - minuit a fond la caisse (I was gonna vote Skyrim but then I took an arrow to the knee xD)

Tou hou, or not tou hou, that is the question.

not tou hou is right next question

knock knock (B A N G E R world of goo was aight tho... touhou was touhou)
ground's colour is yellow (slightly less generic and maybe even slightly better instrumented... these both suck tho)
rigor mortis rag (neat instrumentation, blend of piano with 8-bit stuff is actually decently done and the drop isn't too overblown. mario party song is aight but generic)
minuit a fonde la caisse (my nomination. i love the way the song switches up the beats and instrumentation as it goes on, its a really cool build-up and sounds kinda like the song is collapsing. skyrim song is super super long and im not that big on straight up orchestral shit)

Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism - Last Remote
Sorry it's really hard to beat this song

100% Orange Juice - Tsih's Theme
The Ground's Color Is Yellow is a bad song

Mario Party - Move to the Mambo!
Yeah hard pass on the other track

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - One They Fear
Hard pass again
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock

Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow

Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag

OFF - minuit a fond la caisse

off has such a nice soundtrack.
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
100% Orange Juice - Tsih's Theme
Mario Party - Move to the Mambo
OFF - minuit a fond la caisse
Exclusive content and nostalgia!
-I-
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
(World of Goo was close, ngl. Just a different kind of music for me)

-II-
Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow
(okay FINE, 2hu)

-III-
Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag
(Never even heard of this game before now and damn I actually really like the sound of this, it's got a really unique touch)

-IV-
OFF - minuit a fond la caisse
(I've heard the Skyrim song so much that it doesn't even sound like music at this point, just the "Ding! It's a dragon" notification that occasionally goes off while fucking about)
missed the deadline for set B. go me!

the first time I listened to Enthusia it gave me goosebumps, but now that I listened to it again I kinda wish I voted for Peace and Tranquility. it wouldn't have mattered anyway but still

5. Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
Best of Times is a very emotional song, Last Remote is also a great song, but Knock Knock has the sickest beat in all of history

5. 100% Orange Juice - Tsih's Theme
tough choice here. touhou's song has a better intrumentation but the melody goes weird sometimes

5. Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag
move to the mambo makes me want to dance and party, but rigor mortis rag has a lot more to it

5. OFF - minuit a fond la caisse
i like the version that doesn't have the transition around 1:56 better

Most of these were pretty close, for me.

World of Goo - Best of Times - All three good, splitting hairs between this and Hotline Miami.

Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow - I am not a Touhou person - at all - but I still like this song.

Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag - Just plain enjoyable.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - One They Fear - Very close, may well have chosen differently on another day. It also probably helps that I've never played Skyrim such that the song is something new.
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock

Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow

Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag

OFF - minuit a fond la caisse
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
100% Orange Juice - Tsih's Theme
Mario Party - Move to the Mambo
OFF - minuit a fond la caisse

i didnt like any of those songs tho OFF was at least interesting tho
ask me if i give a f*ck...
I. Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism - Last Remote

II. Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow

III. Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag

IV. OFF - minuit a fond la caisse

I should really play OFF... I don't know why I didn't yet.

Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
Sickest track I've ever listened to.

Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow
sorry Orange Juice, there's no way not to vote for my own choice.

Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag
This is pretty catchy. Mario Party is alright but it's just yet another generic mambo track.
That reminds me I should catch up with some games lol

OFF - minuit a fond la caisse
The only one out of the two that doesn't suck. I wish Skyrim wasn't super long enough for me to not have the patience to listen to it entirely.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
(both of them are cool IMO, but I have a pretty soft spot for synthwave jams so I'm choosing this one lmao; also fuck 2hu)

100% Orange Juice - Tsih's Theme
(I also have a soft spot for trance jams, so I'm voting for this one; also fuck 2hu X2)

Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag
(chiptune ragtime wins tbh)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - One They Fear
(sorry, but the OFF song isn't really my kinda thing; tho if you ask me both of them suck really, this one just sucks less IMO)

Hotline Miami - Knock Knock
(I like the way the bass sounds here.)

100% Orange Juice - Tsih's Theme
(Nanora!)

Death Road to Canada - Rigor Mortis Rag
(It kinda sounds like an insanely chiptune'd Spongebob song to me.)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - One They Fear
(It has some epic aspects to the song that worked with me.)
