Congrats on your 8000th post Katerpie. We're glad to have you around.

And I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends and anyone else who feels like celebrating this day. I hope you get to eat some good food and spend time with your friends and family.
congrats on the 8000 spam posts, katerboy. here's to another 8000 more!

fuck the idea of thanksgiving but i might try and have a nice dinner with my girlfriend since neither of us are doing family stuff for thanksgiving. what are y'all up to?
Just ate. Everybody always brings fifty different dishes, but I hate the idea of overstuffing myself just because everything is there. Give me some turkey, potatoes, and a roll or two and I'm good.
Thanksgiving this year will be bit of a snoozefest in my household. Most of my other family is on vacation, so we're just cooking stuffing, Walmart pumpkin pie, lemon cake, potatoes, no turkey because it's fucking disgusting, ham, and beans.

Oh and marijuana because Colorado wassup.

Dutch people don't celebrate Thanksgiving. Hooray!

I still really don't know what it's all about and to be honest I do not really care.

It's an US thing, so if you're not from the US then you really don't need to care lol

I'll gladly wait until Christmas comes tho so I can get my eat on #wario{;)}

I just ate a shitload of food including but not limited to a whole cornish game hen, a stuffed tomato, mashed potatos and stuffing. My mom doesn't like turkey that much and since I wasn't home to convince her to get one because of the spirit of the holiday we ended up with the hens. They were still good though.
I just don't get the whole thing about stuffing yourself with food because despite weighing a little over 200 pounds (around 92kg), I can generally only finish one plate moderately full of food before feeling full myself.
Is Thanksgiving, then, the quintessential "excessive eating holiday" in the US? Just curious, because over here that role is very much filled by Christmas. (I guess it could be both.)

On a similar note: starting four years ago (it's interesting to be able to pinpoint it), stores aound here have been trying to make Black Friday a thing. I don't claim to know what that day is about, but I don't think they do either, introducing variants like "Red Friday" and "Black Week". And of course, there's nowhere near the hysteria and stampeding that I think is associated with it in the US - it's just a gratuitous holiday type of thing they're trying to import.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thanksgiving became a thing in Germany in the near future.

Thanksgiving is absolutely a gratuitous holiday but it and the days after it make this country's businesses so much money there's no way it'll ever stop. First you buy a ton of food to prepare, then people drive and fly huge distances to go to one person's house to have the feast, then people tune in to watch American football all afternoon long. Then after the feasting is done some people go to their store of choice to get savings on items and contribute to the insanity that is Black Friday (this is still on Thanksgiving Thursday by the way, stores here open for Black Friday sales often at 6pm Thursday or earlier so I hope your meal was at 3pm), which is a huge amount of consumer spending for the holidays and is supposedly healthy for the economy.

Somewhere in all of this is the idea that Thanksgiving was originally some remembrance when the colonists at Plymouth and the Native Americans sat down and shared a feast together after working together to prepare for the cold winter ahead and therefore we should be thankful for various things. But these days aside from vague thanks given by people, Thanksgiving is yet another gratuitous holiday that makes this country money. At least it's an excuse to see my family and eat some good home-cooked food though.
I've finally done it. I've submitted my MaGMML3 level today, after over four months of working on it. This might just be the most work I've ever invested into a private project of mine. I didn't do it alone, of course, got a lot of art help from my girlfriend, but I worked on it almost every day with very few exceptions and had days that I worked on it for like 13+ hours or so. Now I'm just suuuuuper tired, I could sleep for a week straight, oof! #ab{^^;;;}

do yall know what its like to accidentally spill 10 gallons of soy sauce onto yourself

i didnt but now i know
(ok google, how many liters is 10 gallons)

Yikes. Hope your face was spared, because I imagine that stuff burns! (Then again, having it on your clothes probably isn't all that desirable either.)

With a name like that it has to be a Talkhaus-organized project, right?

my girlfriend and i bought a switch this weekend. we picked up let's go pikachu to play together, and just picked up mario kart 8 deluxe yesterday. we also picked up the gamecube usb adapter for mario kart & ... smash ultimate.

let's go pikachu has been really really fun. i never played pokemon go, and my girlfriend is a big fan of go. inversely, im a big pokemon fan, whereas my girlfriend has really only played gen 1 and a random gen 5 game (i think white?). playing co-op together is a really amazing experience.

mario kart is a dopey experience to play. double dash was my previously most-recently played mario kart, and the one i played the most, so jumping from it to mario kart 8 deluxe was wild. i miss petey piranha, and haven't really found a character in the game i like to play as. i'm also not familiar with the stages much, so i decided the most brilliant thing i could do is just play mirror mode right off the bat since its' reflection effects won't affect me. i wish it had actual unlockables for winning cups rather than just the new parts every x amount of coins.

mostly just excited for smash ultimate, though.
That's neat. You can have a lot of fun with the Switch. Are you only playing co-op games or also single player ones? If single player ones are an option, Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey are definitely must-haves. Though there's really tons of games to choose from on Switch, I can't even play them all in my life time, probably. Or if you're looking for a completely different experience (that also has a a two player mode): Taiko no Tatsujin for Switch a drum controller. I love thise game, but I rarely get to play it since it's a loud game, so I can only play it on weekends at most.

It's a Mega Man level contest. I honestly don't know about its origins, all I know is that snoruntpyro organized the first two contests. Not sure who came up with the idea or where it all started. I basically only participated because RoahmMythril LPed the first two contests and I had a really good time watching that, making me interested in giving it a try.

Howdy. Who remembers me? Not that I'm back or anything, just felt nostalgic and want to drop by.

currently just co-op with my girlfriend and i. our next game to pick up is gonna be smash ultimate.

i have plans to get odyssey sometime later, but i'm gonna be getting a lot of mileage out of let's go, mario kart and smash ultimate. going to pick up the kirby game as well.

frankly i'm just not a big zelda fan, and i'm also not really a big single player campaign game fan. i'm not a super huge gamer with a big backlog of a million games, i really just get attached to a few series and follow them pretty close.

So, what did I miss?

Me being a dopey.

And SMWC improving a lot of their earlier issues (or at least, I think so).
@idol: Understandable, everyone has different gaming habbits. Enjoying the play time is the only thing that matters! #smw{:TUP:}

@thread: Had the weirdest dream this morning before I woke up. I won't get into all the details here, but basically a lot of users from SMWC plus some other people were having a party on the lawn of our old house. I knew it were SMWC people because in my dream, idol had posted something like "hey, we should have a party on the big lawn of that old house" on SMWC, and I was like "WOW, this vague information REALLY sounds like it just could be our old house, haha, but nah, that's impossible, just a coincidence", and then some time later, a lot of people actually DID show up in front of our old house and made noise and stuff. At that point in the dream, I got really pissed, wanted to run outside, jump hysterically and shout "WHY WOULD ANYONE VOLUNTARILY COME HERE TO HAVE A PARTY? THIS PLACE SUCKS!". I couldn't, however, because I noticed that my pants, shoes and purse were gone, so I had to look for them inside the house where a few other note-worthy things happened, but I'll rather end the story here.
