AESTHETIC? (ft. Fortaleza Reznor friends!)

Hello eveybody and welcome to this C3 mini-project. As you can see, this time it isn't a solo work, it's a mini-collab we did with some Fortaleza Reznor users! Please take a look:

Backstory:
Quote
Back on March of this year, I (Shiny Ninetales) organized a contest in Fortaleza Reznor, thank to the staff who let normal users do events depending on the month of the year. The objective of the conetst was to do a truly "no-aesthetics" level. For this, the rules were basically the same as OLDC (NOTE: read twice, I said THE RULES, not THE OBJECTIVE), but plus some others like: you weren't able to use FG3 (you had to put an empty graphics file in the slot), certain global objects were banned (like nets and bushes), and background should be empty too (as a exception, the color of the bg could be custom). Other minor things like minor graphical glitches (note blocks, podobos) and custom music (because smw's sux) were allowed. Contrary to some expectations, the contest had a good interest, gaining 7 interesting entries. Motivated by the idea Fortaleza Reznor do a group mini-project for his C3, I decided to make a mini-collab with all the entries (besides I opened the collab for the rest of the FR members who didn't participate, nobody else besides me did an aditional level) So after all this time of preparation, it is finally here!

Levels made by: Gartore, IvanSword, Big Brawler, MarioZarGM, yupilongas, Carld923, Krak and Shiny Ninetales

Thanks for playing!

(We don't care if you consider this a joke or not, but please, don't except this to be like YUMP or something. Also keep in mind the level order is based on judging, so the levels get better while you pass them)

This hack is certainly unique. Perhaps this isn´t YUMP, but from what i saw, the levels were still fun. It´s cool to see this kind of a collab and i appreciate your work. I wonder how creative and difficult the future levels are going to be.

This is the ideal SMW mack. You may not like it, but this is what peak gameplay looks like.

Anyways, interesting idea for sure. While of course primarily intended as a joke, it probably still served as a neat level exercise in level design. Doing away with aesthetics forces the designer to really focus on a level's gameplay, so I'm curious how well this worked and might give this a play.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
Less is more I guess.

It will be fun to see how the levels turned out with not focus on decorations.
When i made my level i realized i need to work more on the actual level design rather than the decorations in it, but it was fun anyways #smw{:TUP:}

Thanks for your comments! After watching the podcast where this hack was kinda showed (kinda because it was showed just two levels) and after reading and listening the comments, I edited a bit the main post to clarify some things (because I think some aspects of this were distorted/misunderstood, but anyway) The intention of this mini-hack was purely to put together all the entries for the mentioned FR's contest, so you can play all at once. It was never meant to be a 100% serious hack or something (like for example, YUMP, the hack which people compared to on the podcast) Also when I say the rules were the same as OLDC, I literally meant ONLY the rules, not the contest's intention (because there's a clear differnce between OLDC and this)

Anyway, any comment is still welcome. Also, and keeping said what I've said, I don't know if this is able to be in the hack's section, so I don't know if I'm subimitting it, but if it's possible, I'll do.

That was my intention, force the designer to purely focus on gameplay (and in a minimal part, to see if they were able to "simulate" some kind of aesthetic, like some entries did) Thanks!
